Room was amazing....ensuite well designed, equipped and clean. The room was hot, there was a fan but no air conditioning. This was clear in the description and not usually an issue but we happened to pick one of the hottest days of the summer. Staff were brilliant...we arrived early, we were only staying one night but wanted to spend 2 days on the beach. We were allowed to park for free from the moment we arrived to the time we left (circa 6pm having checked out at 10am). Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Had a full English breakfast in the morning ( included in the price of the stay). Really enjoyed it, beautifully cooked and locally sourced.

The staff at The Crown were all very friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was comfortable. We stayed in a standard double room which was plenty big enough for our one night stay. The breakfast was delicious and had several homemade elements The homemade granola was the best I’ve ever tasted as was the black pudding. We also ate in the restaurant and the food there was super too. The beef my husband had was melt in your mouth. He said he’d never eaten such tender meat. We coupled our stay with the Adnams brewery tour and lighthouse tour. Our stay was fab and we can’t wait to return to Southwold and The Crown.

The room was a little noisy but that was due to other guests returning to their rooms so not the hotel’s fault.

The staff are a real asset here, all very polite, friendly and willing to provide an excellent service. Location is excellent and on site parking greatly appreciated. Lovely big room with a very comfortable bed. Superb restaurant, we enjoyed a most delicious 3 course evening meal.

The breakfast menu was quite basic and it was disappointing that the buffet part of the breakfast did not have any croissants or pastries. The ensuite was of a good size but a little tired and water pressure to the shower could be better

What a fabulous team and hotel 🥰❤️ Emma and I stayed here as our Valentines 💝 treat. I'm recovering from knee surgery and currently on crutches so when we booked I wanted to know about accessibility. The receptionist very kindly went and actually climbed the stairs so we could make a decision based on how many steps there were 🥰 The staff at The Crown are wonderful and could not do enough for us, so a big special thank you to Auntie Mary and Nicky. The food was fantastic and we had a super evening meal in the restaurant which felt cosy, warm and welcoming. We loved the decor and the fire place and fire being lit was a nice touch. The bedroom was great, well decorated and spacious , certainly enough room for me to hobble about safely. We even had a seagull alarm call the next morning at 805 am as he/she tapped on the window. We will certainly be back, my first visit to Southwold has given us some wonderful memories that will last a lifetime ❤️❤️❤️ 5 massive stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you

We loved everything. Staff were so caring. A particular shout out to the receptionist and waitress at breakfast who genuinely cared. Our room was huge and exceptionally comfortable and beautifully furnished. Everything was of the highest quality and the complimentary extras were much appreciated and very thoughtful. Breakfast was outstanding. An amazing selection. We loved the full English and shatshuka. Produce was high quality. The location is fantastic - right in the town centre.

There is nothing not to like

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food, steak, and chestnut pudding at dinner was amazing. The hotel is right in the middle of lovely Southwold and 4 mins walk from the sea, wonderful. Very nice upmarket clothes shops, 2 blackbirds brilliant bakery and various restaurants. Nice spacious room, complimentary beer and crisps, and the windows OPENED hurrah!! We could park our car in the hotel carpark during our 3 day stay. Adnams Beer tour very interesting.

Unfortunately the room we were in was incredibly hot, even though none of the heaters were on in the room and the windows were open. This was the end of October. The landing heaters were all on which may have caused this.? Thank goodness we had a fan in the room. Also a building next door to the hotel had some builders sawing and hammering at 6.30am on a Friday!!!!

Hotel is situated in the town centre and just a short walk from the beach. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. There were 2 bottles of adnams in the room when we arrived which was a nice touch. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a bath/shower. The breakfast was good and I particularly enjoyed the kippers whilst my husband had the full English. We really enjoyed our 2 night break and would come again

Our room was facing the high street and unfortunately a shop alarm kept going off.

Location, staff, food.

We’ve stayed at the Crown many times before and always had a room at the front overlooking the High Street. This time we made the mistake of booking a cosy double which was at the back of hotel,up 3 floors above the kitchens. When the windows were open you got whiffs of food, it was 29 degrees when we arrived so they were constantly open. We will definitely be returning but with an upgraded room.

I have been visiting Southwold for forty years and this is my first stay at The Crown. Very nice room on the front, friendly staff, great food! Great location in the centre of Southwold, with parking. Overall, a very good stay. 😃

Shame that I was not allowed to sit in the lovely front bar rooms for coffee in the late afternoon, despite them being empty, but directed to a dark and rather unwelcoming bar at the back with scaffold at the windows. Disappointing to find no Adnams sweet sherry available! 😪

The best thing about this hotel is the location and the fact it has its own carpark. It is right in the middle of the town, and only five minutes walk from the beach. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good too.

We had a room on the top floor which would have been hard to get to if you had accessibility issues. It was hot up there too and we couldn't open the windows properly for fear of seagulls coming in!
