The staff were exceptional being very welcoming attentive and helpful. The room was in a separate building to the main Pub just to the front across the car park so no noise from the pub, the air conditioners or coolers. It was sufficiently back from the main road so little or no road noise. The room itself was clean and had the facilities you would expect. The pub had a restaurant serving very good food which was served on hot plates which meant the food was also hot when served which is more than you can say about other rival establishments. The breakfast menu did not include a European selection of Croissants sweet pastries Ham etc (after all we're in England) but did have the usual cereals yogurts juices and toast. The menu for breakfast was comprehensive with the cereals and cooked food. Overall my wife and I had a lovely stay and would consider returning in the future.

I wouldn't say this was a dislike but the bed mattress was a little firm for me and the external door to the room had seen better days. It should be replaced as it is rotten at the bottom and so filling where there is rotten wood before repainting is not a long term solution. There is no wardrobe in the room to hang clothes, only a rail close to the door which means if you don't close the blind to the door anyone passing can see your clothes and in the room in general. There also seems to be a possible security problem as an intruder could smash one of the glass panels reach in and unlock the door. Adnams should perhaps consider changing the external door with higher glass panels.

The property was very good value for money. We had excellent service throughout from our initial greeting to checkout. The staff at reception/ waiting staff and cleaning staff were all very friendly. The food generally was of good quality and well presented. We enjoyed the breakfasts. My wife had chilli prawn skewers which were disappointing and expensive. The ret of the food both for dinners and breakfasts was excellent. We had the special deal for 2 steak pie, chips and peas. This was very good. The room was excellent. It was very nicely decorated, had a very comfortable bed and was warm. The heating was excellent. The bathroom was good and the shower in particular was good. One small point is that there was a lot of light in the room at night. I understand the need for emergency green lighting, but there was a lot of light coming from outside the door until the early hours when it was switched off. I think this could be improved. Other than that everything about our stay was excellent. We would definitely like to return!

As above 1 meal was disappointing and the light from outside the room at night could have been shielded better.

It was lovely and convenient. The staff was great, and it was less hassle than other hotels or B&Bs. The Breakfasts were fabulous and freshly cooked. The car park was ample, and you could park close to your room - it even has an electric car charging point. They have fabulous lunch and evening menus. Even if you don't stay it is worth going for the food.

There was a bright green LED in the self-maintained emergency light over the door which didn't help when you were used to it being pitch black to get off to sleep. Considering that was the only little moan it is pretty insignificant compared to the wonderful facilities they have.

The location was good. The accommodation was spacious. They were welcoming of our dog, both in the accommodation and pub/ meals. The breakfast was good quality and cooked well. The bed was comfortable. The cleaner was very good at catching a couple of very big spiders! Parking is free and plentiful.

There was a bit of a delay in getting our breakfast on a couple of mornings of our stay, which delayed us going out to holiday activities. A small fridge in the room would have been a good addition to the facilities.

The staff were friendly and super helpful. Quality dinner and breakfast in the pub, everything fresh and well prepared. The walls in the rooms were a bit thin and you could hear other guests going to the toilet in the middle of the night, farting and flushing toilets etc, I should have bought earplugs. Saying that, the room was comfortable, clean and tidy with good bathroom and shower. I felt this was good value for money and would definitely return if in this neck of the woods again. Thank you!

We had a very comfortable stay. The room was big, light and airy and we liked the fact it was separate from the pub, so it was quiet and private. We only had a few yards to the pub and the food was plentiful and enjoyable. Overall everything was very clean and well maintained.

They were short staffed and on the Sunday morning the lady was serving breakfast, covering reception as well as looking after the bar. Then I overheard a telephone conversation where housekeeping was not available. The lady was doing a fantastic job, but we felt she should have had more support.

We booked two rooms at the Five Bells for a quick pre-Christmas visit to Southwold, and we’re so glad we did! The pub/restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Both rooms were spotless, well-appointed, and had everything we needed. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, giving us a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of high-quality options, all freshly cooked to order. We’ll definitely be returning in the new year!

On arrival there was no heating or hot water available in our room as the boiler had broken down. The management did supply a portable oil filled heater, but it made no impression to the room, which was quite large. they appologised the next morning informing us that they had called in a plumber. When we returned to the hotel the heating and hot water was working. CH>

Location was just where we wanted to be, as close to Covehithe as possible. Room was actually too warm when we arrived, but rather that than cold. Even with the radiator turned right down it remained warm and cosy. A lovely spacious room and given we had adog in tow, much appreciated. Breakfast was great and ran until 10.30, so fantastic for a lazy start to the day!

Dinner was a bit of a dissapointment. Nothing we could complain about at the time, just very average and overpriced. On the plus side the whitebait were the fatest whitebait I've ever seen, but the accompanying tartar sauce was served in the packet. My double cooked pork belly was OK, but the veg, advertised as "Wangford seasonal vegetables" I expected to be roasted, but were uninspiring and the whole plate looked like something off a carvery. My partner was none too impressed with her curry either. Should have taken the hint that it was two fish & chips for £20. Would have been very happy I'm sure.

Only one thing when you come back to room when it's dark there are no lights in car park there was a light attached to wall of accommodation but unfortunately didn't work so had to leave headlights on to unlock door but this didn't detract from the lovely accommodation and staff
