The staff are lovely; helpful, friendly and efficient. We were there for a "drive experience" at Oulton Park (the hotel is perfectly located for this); when the breakfast staff learnt this, they wanted to know how it went!. Downstairs has lots of sitting areas, for meeting up, eating, having coffee, playing cards, reading etc. Beautifully decorated, comfortable – great place to stay.

not really a complaint - but, huge portions in meals, including breakfast - staff agree and say many customers mention this and can't eat it all. Time to review portion size ?

The hotel is very elegant and has a great feel to it. The staff could not have been more helpful - particularly the Manager. The room was delightful - beautifully decorated and furnished with a four poster bed and a sofa. The room looked out over the High Street, although it was very well sound-proofed and we slept very well. The room had beautiful traditional windows which made the room lovely and light in the daytime, with shutters and good curtains to provide blackout, The bed was OK. The bathroom and shower were great. Breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared and there was plenty of choice. The evening meal was good - again freshly prepared and tasty. I would have liked slightly more choice on the evening menu.

I am struggling to think what that would be. The only very minor thing was there were plenty of small bottles of Molton Brown shampoo, conditioner and body lotion but no shower gel. I prefer a pocket sprung mattress but that is a personal thing.

Our weekend at The Swan was excellent. It was our second time their and we enjoyed it just as much as the first. The location in one of the best of country towns is a real selling point. But The Swan itself is on of the best 'pub wit rooms' you will hope to find. The food during dinner and at breakfast is excellent and the staff are all very friendly and top rate. The hotel was in the centre of Tarpoley, with a private car park. The breakfast was very good, even with vegan options.had

We were put in the top of the hotel and there was no lift. It was also one of the noisiest rooms I have ever had a hotel. If you flushed the toilet or ran a tap, I think the whole of the floor knew it. We were kept awake at night by the noise of the pipes from other rooms, and I was woken up at 7:30 in the morning when they took a shower. The noise was impossible to ignore.

Beautifully appointed coaching inn. The interior is so homely and the designer has a real eye for detail. The carafe of drinking water, free snacks, along with a really cosy bedroom, and extremely comfortable bed made for a good nights stay. The room was very warm, you can open the window but the traffic noise can be a bit much. I stayed in a high street facing room. Thankfully I sleep with ear plugs, so didn’t bother me. The building is very quirky, a little like the staff. Everyone was helpful and welcoming. We stayed for dinner and the food and wine were both very good. The breakfast was quite frankly amazing and set us up for a long days driving. Thoroughly recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.

Parking can be tricky in a LWB van, but thankfully there is a free overnight car park a short walk away.

Parking was good, the main areas of the hotel were well decorated, had lovely furniture and were very welcoming especially the open fire in the bar area. The room was well decorated, comfortable and well laid out with lots of lovely snacks and plenty of milk and tea and coffee to select from. The bed was comfy and the room temperature could be easily changed to suit. The bathroom was good with a good shower over the nice deep bath. The bar had a good choice of drinks and plenty of seating areas. The breakfast choice and quality was excellent. All of the staff were welcoming and we were quickly greeted on arrival and each time we wanted to be served.

Brilliant staff, very friendly, with nothing being too much trouble. Food was also very nice, and, although a little more expensive than other places nearby, it was so much better. The breakfast was better than any other hotels we have been to, freshly cooked and excellent quality. The staff at other local venues we visited were not as friendly nor professional as those at the Swan. Accommodation was fine, not brilliant but good for the price, no complaints and would definitely stay there over other nearby places.

Beautiful, historic building, with modern comforts and attractive decor. Delicious breakfasts cooked to order from the pub menu, which gives a good variety of dishes to choose from. Our room was clean and comfortable. Nice drink selection in the room. The hotel has its own car park which is very handy. All the staff who served us were friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Sam, who really looked after us during our 2 night stay.

A minor quibble was that our room had no drawer space, which is a little odd!

We asked to go to the back of the property to get away from road noise and they complied with our request. The bed in our room was the most comfortable bed I've slept in for a long time!

We originally booked a courtyard room with walk in shower - which we didn't get. The bathroom had a bath and as we are both in our 80's and quite fit it was a death trap, we had to put towels in case we slipped and help each other to get into the bath so we could have a shower - please could you put hand rails in asap?

Well, this was perfect for us this trip. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and amazing breakfast. Wonderful relaxing areas throughout the property A proper traditional inn in a delightful small town. We loved this hotel with it's instant access to the shops and bars on the high street and it's own timeless charm.

The location on the high street of a bustling town was a plus point for us but I could envisage some folk finding traffic noise disturbing if you had a room on the hotel front. Also, because the hotel is really the focal point of the town, parking at the hotel was sometimes limited but local parking was also available.
