We stayed one night following a day visiting Chester and the following day in Delamere Forest. Perfect location for our needs. We also travelled with one dog. We ate at the pub in the evening. They advised us they have limited menu compared to normal but there was still an extensive choice. The food was delicious and was freshly cooked. The staff and locals were very welcoming. We didn't stay for breakfast but it smelt lovely whilst it was being cooked for others when we left :-)

We had a downstairs room and you could hear upstairs moving around a little. It is an old building. This didn't detract from our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nuno is an exceptional host, manning both the bar and kitchen by himself as well as being on call for all your needs. The breakfasts were fantastic and evening meals possibly even better. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. If given the chance, we would highly recommend the Sunday roast. The room was warm bright and colourful, the bed comfortable and nicely sized. We will definitely keep the White Horse Inn in mind if we are traveling to the area again.

The room could have been a bit cleaner.

A small, traditional village Inn with accommodation in a separate building. The room was accessed up an outside staircase and was very clean, cosy and comfortable. The area and the room were quiet and we enjoyed 2 excellent night’s rest. The host is super friendly and helpful and the Inn has a great atmosphere with locals and visitors. The home cooked food was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. We definitely plan to return there!

We were entirely happy with our stay. Obviously, anyone with mobility difficulties should check if a ground floor room Is available and in inclement weather you need to be aware of the very short walk to the Inn itself for drinks or food.

This is a beautiful little gem if you want to relax and take a chilled night away We stayed here as we were going to oulton park racing which was about 20 minutes drive away The room was fantastic comfortable bed and seating area and you can look up at the stars The staff were also fabulous

No reflection on hotel but absolutely no other pubs or restaurants around in walking distance The outdoor furniture was a little tired The pub did feel cold about 20.00pm and I wanted thr beautiful real fire to get going but went back to room which was lovely and warm The shower didn't have an attachment so of you don't want to get your hair wet there wasn't an option

Nuno was a lovely host, nothing seem a problem for him. The property is a good location to access Chester as its within a 20 minute drive to the center or Chester, so a god base. They offer food in the evening and a lovely cooked breakfast for an additional charge. Nuno is an attentive host and asked about you and your day and what you've got planned. We paid a reasonable price and had a good nights sleep for it.

The room had quite a bit of dust around, on the toilet roll holder and in the drawers under the bed, in their defense they hadn't realised we had booked so hopefully the room would have been cleaner if they had been expecting us. The room was the smallest of the three and could have benefited from a small comfy chair like in the other rooms. Just by moving the desk down the wall a bit would give enough space, then you don't have to sit on the bed if you don't want to. The TV on the wall needs a bit more securing.

Great decor. Modern furnishings and a fantastically quiet fridge! High end bathroom and pleasant outdoor seating. Quiet countryside location. Big kettle. Not in any way above the pub so much quieter than expected.

Internal and external doors need replacing as this would give privacy when going to the loo with the light on! We didn't sit on the sofa as there were pet hairs all over it despite my booking a "non-pet friendly" room. Guy in room 1 had telly on through the night 🤷‍♂️ which was minorly irritating.

Lovely room, great location, lovely pub with great food and really friendly staff. I come back here regularly and can thoroughly recommend

The only point to note is that the booking.com page says the pub is open for drinks Monday and Tuesday evenings and the rest of the weekend for drinks and food. This isn't accurate as the pub isn't currently (June 24) open at all Mondays and Tuesdays. The staff say they've tried to change this on booking.com but are unable to. If this is a concern best to phone or message the pub first to check.

Very spacious, clean, comfortable room which was great value for money for one night stay. Quiet setting (except for nearby church bells ringing early in the morning), plenty of parking. Liked the decor.

No staff around in the morning when checking out about 9.00 (guidance had said only need to request early check out if before 8.30) - not a huge issue but could have had better communication about how to check out beforehand. Slightly disappointed that pub closed early on the night so unable to have a drink there, but Nuno did message about this.

Lovely rooms, well thought out and comfortable. The owners/staff were amazing - so lovely and accommodating, we felt very at home and looked after. Surprisingly quiet and peaceful for rooms in a pub as well (stayed Thursday and Friday nights). Food-wise, we only had time for breakfasts here, but they were so good! Great quality produce and perfectly cooked. We were travelling with babies which always involves worrying about what they can eat and the mess they'll make, but the breakfast was perfect to share with them. Came down in the morning to the table set up already with two highchairs which was lovely. We will definitely stay here again!

The rooms were very cold on the first night. I think perhaps they'd been empty for a couple of nights, so had no residual heat and therefore, took ages to warm up. The second night they'd caught up though and were lovely and toasty!

We used The White Horse as an over-night stay following a visit to Chester Zoo which is only 6 miles away. We occupied 2 rooms close together for Grandparents, mum, dad, and 2 children aged 10 and 4. The rooms were clean, spacious, very quite at night, and the bed very comfortable. The beer garden and parking are excellent and the village of Barrow very impressive. We ate in the bar in the evening with the food being excellent and very well priced. The staff and local customers in the bar could not have been more friendly, helpful and welcoming.
