The hotel was easy to find and, having found it, it offered easy parking. Our reception was very friendly and our room was cosy, clean and quiet. We slept well and over the next three days enjoyed some excellent breakfasts from -- for such a small hotel -- a very wide menu. The location was excellent: on a main bus route but also within very easy walking-distance of the city-centre, and in fact only 10 minutes from the railway-station. The local 'village' has a wide range of very good restaurants, pubs and shops.

We were in a group of 10 which, on the morning of the first breakfast, somewhat threw the system. It was, in fact, our choice to sit and be served together but, in the light of experience, we subsequently decided among ourselves that it would have been better for all if we had sat in groups of 2 or 4, like the other guests. We were there in a heatwave. It would have been pleasant if there had been an electric fan provided.

We were welcomed by a very friendly host who showed us to our room, explained how everything worked and booked in our breakfast times. The location isn’t far from Chester City Centre - we walked to and from it several times in our visit so having free parking at the hotel was really convenient. I expect this hotel was much quieter than staying in the centre - in fact we wouldn’t have known there were any other guests staying if we hadn’t seen them at breakfast! 2 very friendly neighbourhood cats outside who also gave us a great welcome!!

Couldn’t complain about anything. Will definitely stay here again next time we’re in Chester!

Nice welcome, very clean guesthouse. Good toiletries options, chilled water and milk in room fridge. On site parking (although tight for today’s larger vehicles)

Limited car space ( not much can be done so arrive early if possible) on arrival advised that neighbours had cats so please keep windows closed in room. Limited breakfast time slots and limited tables due to used crockery not cleared away. Would prefer orders to be written down so correct food order brought to table. Be better to have a continental style buffet available to allow guests to help themselves. Good location for pub, restaurants and local small shops near by. With some little refinement, this place could be exceptional. Would still recommend to friends for a romantic get away.

Small hotel reasonably close to Chester walls. Great breakfast prepared to order. King bed comfortable. Good shower.

While I appreciate that cars are getting bigger and the carpark is the same size, and far be it for me to tell a hotelier how to run an establishment, you get asked your car rego around the place enough, that I don’t see why that information can’t be collected at checkin. Arriving at the hotel and returning after dinner, is quite stressful trying to fit in when not all the cars are parked within the bays. It takes a driver and a guide to manoeuvre.

Lots of choice for breakfast, it's all cooked fresh to order ,so if it's busy there could be a wait ,but that's all explained to you when you first arrive. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We had the afternoon tea which was lovely, too much to eat at the time, so they boxed the remainder of it and we put it in the fridge in our room. It's about a twenty minute walk to the centre of Chester and ten minutes to the train station. Lots of lovely shops and restaurants two minutes from the hotel in Hoole. Will definitely be returning next time we stay in Chester.

Lovely little place just slightly away from the train station. The staff were very friendly and I would like to call out Amy for her exceptional service when we booked in. Breakfast was outstanding! Both I and my partner had the eggs royale and it was perfect. Coffee in a cafetiere was a nice touch and everything was made to order. The bed was comfortable, large and clean. Nice bathroom facilities and the soaps and lotions were delightful (I made good use of the soothing lotion on my sunburn). Just around the corner was a street full of shops and eateries if you didn't want to walk into the centre, but it was only a 15-minute walk if you did! Overall we had a lovely time and definitely will be staying again in the future.

Location was good, beds very comfy, bathroom very nice and spotless. Breakfast was excellent. Staff friendly.

The only issue we had was the afternoon tea we had at the hotel. We didn't say anything at the time as did not want to offend the young man who prepared it but it was very disappointing. The quiche was burnt and very hard and dry, the chocolate and orange cake was also very dry, did not seem fresh at all. Some of the sandwiches had gone very soggy with the tomatoes, think they had been done awhile. The whole thing just looked very beige, nothing exciting. Definitely not worth £20 each.

The hotel was lovely, staff very attentive. Excellent food at breakfast and we had booked the afternoon tea that was delicious. Room and facilities brilliant.

Our room (number 2 downstairs) was cold and twice we asked for the heating to be switched on when we got back in the afternoon, to be told it only comes on at a certain time, around 6pm and when it did it wasn't that warm anyway. It was December and we'd walked about all day in the cold. This was the only fault. For the price I would have expected to be warm when in the room.

Very warm welcoming, tea and cake offered on arrival, very clean room and comfortable bed. The power shower was also a great feature. Every member of staff were welcoming and friendly, no matter what time of day. Breakfast is also worth a mention, being able to choose smoked salmon bagels, or full english, fruit platter, good choice and mixture of breakfast items, which were all very tasty! The location itself I felt was perfect, 5 mins away from the train station, 2 seconds from a busy street with lovely pubs and local shops, 20 min walk into the centre for a great day exploring the city walls, the river, cathedral etc. Also only a 5 min drive from chester zoo which we enjoyed very much. Local taxi drivers very friendly also, and also good value for money. Also, although mentioned in hotel guide, towels dont get changed for 3 night stay or less, we did in fact have our beds made and fresh towel.

I cant say there was much we didnt like. We would of liked the option of a bar but thats not on the hotel. Also the mushrooms at breakfast were extremely salty. Apart from that we had a great weekend away. And would recommend to friends and family.

We booked last minute and contacted the hotel to let them know we would be arriving later than the usual cut off time. The gentleman who greeted us was professional and curious. He was also serving breakfast and although very busy made an effort to chat to us and our daughter about our plans and checked in regularly to ensure we didn’t need anything else. The bathroom was well sized and modern with a Bluetooth mirror. The parking although tight was extremely handy. The breakfast had a great range, all freshly prepared.

Cannot fault the property or staff.
