Our hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and happy to help. The room was small, but as we were only there to shower and sleep, this was fine. The room was tidy. The building is Victorian era and is decorated as such. A nice touch, IMO. It's a short walk (2-3 mins) to the bus station and many restaurants, and just a little further to the train station. Chester is a very walkable city, and Maison Claire isn't far from many of the attractions. A 10-15 minute walk will get you to most.

Not a "didn't like", just a heads-up for others: the building is middle Victorian era. As such it has narrow stairs. If you struggle with stairs, this isn't the place for you.

The decor was lovely - the owners have great interior design skills. It was centrally located and great value for money. The bed was comfy and it was a great use of a small space - very creative. Perfect for a solo traveller for one night. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The access was a bit complicated and “clunky”. Keyless system, which is a great idea but was not simple. Other guests were also having issues. Also there was nowhere to hang the towels in the room I used.

A very pleasant Victorian end-terrace house, in an excellent location for my purposes.Fairly small single room but comfortable. Though adjacent to a fairly busy road the triple glazing meant that it was exceptionally quiet. WiFi very useful. Though no breakfast available at the moment (looks very good on the website pictures) - and it was clear on the booking information that there was no breakfast included - there were alternatives close by. One of the nearest ones was was closed on Saturdays.

I am not a technically competent person and found it difficult to remember the verbal instructions as to how to lock and unlock the front door - but Claire was always at the end of a phone immediately to assist.

Well located for the city centre; secure pin numbers texted on the morning of arrival for outer door and room, the owner available for any queries and replies very quickly; the room is tastefully decorated, petite but big enough to be practical. I liked the 'Nice Ass' print in the bathroom (with the head of a donkey above!)

I had a bicycle, which was stored discreetly out of view underneath some banana plants from anyone looking through the garden gate. The first night the garden gate was locked but the second night the lock was removed because apparantly all the rooms were booked for that night and this meant it had to be left unlocked for access (to at least one room) My pre arrival understanding was that the gate was always going to be locked. To be honest the chances of theft are pretty low but it is a point for cyclists to consider.

Comfortable and beautifully furnished room in a great location for the city centre. Very friendly and welcoming hostess. Whilst breakfast not provided, Wetherspoons is just round the corner and provides a good value choice. 1100 check out time rather than the industry standard 1000 is a nice touch. Will definitely stay again.

A minor point was that our room was next to the front door so we were awoken by other guests entering in the early hours (2am and 4am), but then that can happen in any city centre B&B.

Excellent location, very close walk to car park and city centre. Nice modern decor as well and comfy beds.

For a Family Room, the space could’ve been a bit bigger though I appreciate it is an end terrace building so space is more limited. The radiator had been turned off in the room so when we got into the room in the evening it felt particularly cold, taking a little while to warm up. One very creaky part of the flooring that could do with tightening but only a minor issue.

Lovely room and helped us check in when it was late at night which was much appreciated as we weren’t expecting to stay originally!

Got woke up by the cleaner walking in at 9:40AM this morning. Then got told we need to leave our room at 10:40AM with no warning or reason why. Check out is 11AM so this should be stuck too … felt a bit pressured to get out when we’d only just woke up.

Would have preferred a chair to be available in the room.

I asked if I could have access to the kitchen but was told I paid for a room only. I checked in late at 8pm and I only wanted to warm my milk at the microwave. Atleast good guess would have been appreciated. But it's all good. Would have preferred a chair to be available in the room.

The property geographical location is excellent - hence why this was the second booking/stay. The check in/access to the property on arrival was simple and accommodating when a misunderstanding of the room requirements, was evident. This was handled fuss free.

The access out of hours to the room. The looking system on departure that evening was faulty and despite notifying the the staff, it was not rectified on return and was left stranded without being able to get access to our room. Despite ringing ALL numbers notified, we had no response. Luckily for us, a resident at the hotel was awaken when we knocked the door and he let us in! Was not impressed as this was early hours and no one responded despite texts, calls and messages. We understand the owners were away, so we sense the failure on this occasion, was isolated. As stated earlier, had stayed there before and no problem previously.

The location was excellent, it’s in the city centre but a quiet part of it. The owner was lovely too which made me feel a lot more comfortable during my stay.

The bathroom door didn’t shut properly which wasn’t a problem as I was by myself but if I had someone visiting the room whilst I was there it could’ve been a problem
