Beautiful location close to amenities , large spacious hotel , lovely big double shower

There was the most awful smell of drains/sewerage coming from the bathroom sink during ther night , spoke to the receptionist in the morning so they knew to bleach the sinks to be pretty much ignored !!

The rooms were great - spotless and large. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful. I enjoyed the pool facilities - the lower lights created a relaxing atmosphere. I spent a long time in pool area. A superb breakfast - very enjoyable - the restaurant staff very very friendly and helpful - making sure the breakfast items were topped up. The spa staff were also very friendly and helpful. Great location with super available walks. I really fancy staying there again.

My room was very hot -i wasn't sure how to turn down the heat - fortunately there was a fan in the room. I think the Receptionist could have been more welcoming. I like to feel that I'm a welcome guest not just someone who is passing through to be thrust two check in cards - then room keys. I travel a lot and I'm used to the receptionist at least pretending to be interested in our journey - or asking us if we've visited before. And perhaps to have the facilities explained. We were also sent in two different routes to our rooms even though they were quite close apart. Perhaps she was busy that day.

Friendly team, excellent facilities. Nice and clean recently refurbished. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We came here as a family so had a twin and a triple room meaning we had lots of space to relax. Gym over 2 floors, lovely big swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Food was amazing we had freshly made stone baked pizza, I had Caesar salad with beautiful freshly grilled chicken. I Tried chefs own Raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake , it was best pudding I ve had in years. Breakfast was also incredible. Looking forward to booking a return visit. Set in nice location . If weather had been better would have been lovely to sit outside for a cocktail here, Highly recommend. Good value for money. I'd looked for accommodation near Chester and can't believe that by chance I stumbled upon this gem.

I have probably stayed here over 100 times and it was getting tired. This time I was put in what looked like a newly refurbished room which was very nice. I hope they do more rooms to match

Still looking tired, but I still enjoy my stays here

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here and it’s nice to see the place has been refurbished to a lovely standard. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the staff were lovely. I upgraded to an executive suite but the only thing different in this room than the room last time was the bed felt a little bigger. That was all so didn’t feel it was worth the price to upgrade but it was a nice room so can’t complain really.

The pool facilities were not very good most of the lockers were broken and not many cubicles to change in privacy. We didn’t use the leisure facilities last time we stayed and unless it had a refurb I wouldn’t use them again.

Really relaxed vibe at this hotel, brilliant location with outdoor space to walk with the kids, and look out from the top of the hill across to Liverpool and surrounding areas. We came as a large group of friends and family and booked two rooms next to each other, spacious rooms with very comfy beds and a lovely breakfast in the morning served by friendly helpful staff. Great swimming pool and hot tub which the children really enjoyed. The shower and changing facilities are brilliant here. Lots of showers and seating area with mirrors and hairdryers which made the process with several young lively children easier. I can’t remember the name of the lovely, dark haired, female staff member, who could see I had my hands full with the kids in the changing room, and allowed us some extra time when I didn’t realise it was supposed to be closed up. Thank you for your patience :) On attempting to leave for home after our lovely breakfast, my friend’s car would not start which was a stressful situation, as she had two young very tired children and it was very cold and rainy. We couldn’t have asked for more friendly and helpful staff! Leona, Paul and Joel were so helpful coming out to help without a second thought, bringing jump leads, calling mechanics for advise when it wasn’t working and staying with us trying to get the car started. It took a while and several attempts but with the help of these staff we got the car going. They went well above and beyond, standing outside, shivering and wet until the car got started which they did not have to do. We can’t thank you all enough! We will definitely return to this hotel. Thank you all!

Room was warm and cosy, but a little tired looking, could do with a bit of tlc. Breakfast was good and plenty of choice, dinner in the evening was very good value and again a good choice on the menu. The facilities were excellent with the pool and the gym being well used by our family. Big car park so no issues with parking, lovely grounds and areas to walk around. Lovely receptionist who was very helpful and quickly got us all settled in.

Our room was comfortable but in need of decoration and modernisation, for instance, bedside light switches were too far from the bed to reach without getting out of bed.

The welcome, very miserable young lady in reception did not make us feel welcome at all. Arrived at 2pm after driving 200 miles for family party at 3, room not ready fair enough but she was rude and miserable and didnt even point u in the direction of the bar or toilets to get changed so we waited half an hour, went back to reception and asked if room was ready yet, didn’t. Speak just got the key then gave us directions! Just not the welcome on Boxing Day we would expect from any hotel! Service with a smile would be good! Thoroughly annoyed us with her attitude!

The room was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was really good.

The initial reception staff were a bit frosty when we arrived before initial check-in. Not being able to check in until 14.30 (unless you pay an extortionate £25 fee) is not very good when you have somewhere to be and there wasn't anywhere to put my baggage except behind reception. I was not informed of ongoing refurbishments and the potential disruptions caused by the repairs until the day before my arrival. The car park is a mess and muddy meaning all that dirt transfered on to my shoes and into my car.

I think this hotel is very convenient and good value for money, the refurbishment has certainly refreshed the public areas such as the breakfast room. It was fairly quiet. I guess this is because I went after the main tourist season but before the business trade gets going. As a result the food was all cooked to order and has certainly improved. I like this hotel because you can easily get to attractions in north Wales and Merseyside.

I do think the council could do some work on the nearby roads, the hotel is an asset to the area and deserves better and smoother access although to be fair some parts of the car park would benefit from a resurface.
