The staff was very friendly and the location is prime

The heating in the air conditioning in the room there was really no in between so it was either you were really caught or you were really cold and there were no instructions on how to use the phone like what to dial out or how to get a hold of room service if there was room service or how do you even get a hold of the front desk. also for an ocean view room, the ocean was quite far away, but it was really good if you wanted to look into the restaurants and bars down below.

All I have to say is the man for overnights at the front desk saved my life last night. The staff was so exceptional and did everything to make sure I was okay. The people were great and it is a safe area. The view was beautiful and perfect distance from the beach and the funzone. The beautiful blonde lady at the front desk that checked me in and out, thank you so much! You were amazing and made me feel more safer. Just like quick trip you guys are a safe place💕 the room was amazing the price was amazing! I have no complaints!

We were there to celebrate memories of growing up in Balboa. My sister is quite ill and it was my Christmas gift to her. 1st room heater did not work and they gave us extra blankets. The next morning front desk staff, led by Laura, upgraded us to a beautiful room with working heat!!! So appreciated this!! My sister has to rest/sleep between short outings. Overall we had a wonderful memory to last a life time. Thank you and Merry Christmas to all. Kathy Dells

No heat bedroom #1

*Wheelchair-accessible w/ an elevator, which is essential for my elderly aunt so she can enjoy the trip. *Beautiful architecture and sea view from our balcony, w/c is what my aunt appreciated since she did not want a corporate conglomerate brand experience but an authentic local feel *Walking distance of everything we needed - restaurants, whale watching tours, shopping, sight-seeing, pier & beach views *Secure gated parking for hotel guests that is also wheelchair-accessible, so my aunt & I can get our things as needed *Excellent free WiFi for my various devices (essential to me for my remote consulting work) and I was just careful as usual to use my own VPN (virtual private network) security in each device for my cybersecurity peace of mind *Timing-wise, since it was not quite Easter Spring Break yet, so thankfully the hotel itself was not crowded, so it made my aunt comfortable in not having to deal with/ a ton of foot traffic to get around *Also timing-wise, the sunny w/ slight breeze weather during our stay is perfect respite from recent rainstorms and it helped to make our scheduled whale watching experience with Davey’s Locker even more engagingly fun *Thoughtful & attentive staff who made my aunt’s stay very special in being very patient w/ us in unloading & loading process since my aunt is not very fast mobility-wise, plus for a reasonable day gated parking fee, even after we already checked out, my car was still safe with them while we went on our 2 hour whale watching tour & leisurely late lunch afterwards before finally heading home.

At first, it was hard first meeting to find where the entrance & drop-off valet parking was since GPS is generally not very good about identifying properties that are really compact. I actually had to park my car temporarily in the 2-hour municipal parking lot to walk to find the canopied entrance, then I was able to drive up to the entrance to disembark & get valet parking going. Also, probably this might be an oversight on my own part for not asking ahead of time, but I realized when I was about to sleep in my pull-out sofa bed that they do not automatically supply a blanket for the pull-out sofa bed. I still had a good night’s sleep though just using the pull-out sofa bed’s mattress sheet & big and small sofa pillows.

The continental breakfast was great, the orange juice was fresh and the coffee was robust and fresh. The location was perfect, the hotel is right at the center of everything: the balboa pier, the sand is about 75 feet south of the hotel, the marina is also about 75 feet just north the hotel. You can Walk on the strains on either the north or the south. And running or biking can be enjoyed on the south strain between a beautiful Oceanview and lovely beach houses. Wow! What a wonderful place to visit or live.

More vanity space in the bathroom

Great location on the beach and walking distance from great shops, food, and ocean experiences.

The parking situation was absurd. The hotel does not have its own parking so you have to either do valet which was robbery with how expensive it was. More expensive than doing day passes. The hotel did not care about their guests or they would be trying to strike deals with the city OR have cheaper valet options.

Location was wonderful. Staff was wonderful. The assignment of a balcony room was wonderful. Loved our one night stay after the fantastic Christmas Boat Parade.

Just seemed pricey, I'm sure it is due to the location. So close to everything. The morning breakfast was disappointing, only fruit (apples, bananas) yogurt, I think cereal, and not much more. We walked 1/2 block to get a hot breakfast elsewhere. Also, paying for parking (too much) and the inflated price for location made this trip a once in a lifetime deal. Would not pay that much again, although it was a great time.

Fantastic location. Old property but nicely updated. Bathroom was modern with a walk-in shower. Small lanai overlooking Main Street was nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

No exhaust fan in the bathroom. Dorm fridge needs to be replaced.

Overlooking the pier and the water. Very close to stores and restaurants and fun zone. Comfortable bed and pillows. I was allowed to bring my dog.

Didn’t have a microwave or a bathroom counter just a pedestal sink. AC kept going on and off on and off all night waking me up and the wall thermostat was so loose when I pushed it to off it just fell back down to on.

Location Had frig in room and a drip coffee maker. Which was So much better than the ones you find in many hotels now . Loved the Jacuzzi pool. Close to ferry to Balboa Island. Restaurant very good

A microwave would have been nice but they did let me use one on kitchen. No place to park at location without valeting which is expensive. Booking.com didn’t mention that I recall. People up late in park close by.
