The breakfast service at BWP Del Mar is exceptional. The food is very healthy, fresh and delicious. The breakfasts are unlike almost any hotel breakfasts I have experienced that come with the price of the room in this regard. Real eggs, nice and varied fresh fruit, great (unsweetened if that's how you prefer it) Greek yogurt, etc. The Cafe is also very flexible in terms of what one can order as part of the 'included in the price of room' breakfast, which was most appreciated. Plus, the staff were friendly and professional. I also booked a room with a kitchenette (don't forget to ask for the kitchenette set on check-in as the cabinets are not pre-stocked!) and that was very useful for me. The room was pretty and very comfortable. I also liked the very small porch outside the room. Location on the charming main street of Del Mar (Camino del Mar) is also fantastic. People should understand in advance so they're not disappointed, however, that there is no direct beach access behind the hotel, but rather via a short walk down the street.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great place to stay. More expensive than hotels in other local towns as you are staying in Del Mar but it's a really nice safe town. Excellent pool and jacuzzi area containing a fire pit to warm you up and pool towels that are laid out for you. Stayed 4 nights and would book here again! Also an excellent and very busy Mexican restaurant, En Fuego Cantina, in walking distance. Worth going to if you like Mexican food.

The onsite small cafe could have been better supplied with breakfast options to make this stay even better.

We were pleasantly surprised that the property was so well-maintained. The whole place is clean and it felt special...even a "living room" with a fireplace. The check in was easy, and so was the check out. There's a little pool, a little cafe, and a dog park right next to the property. You can see the ocean from certain rooms...ask for that! And it was on the small side. A full range in the studio apartment, sliding glass doors, a little patio. Exceptional value right in the heart of Del Mar!

The pillows were stiff...so...bring your own...or buy a cheap one if you are staying more than a night. Everything else...amazing!

Our stay here was the best experience we have ever had. The location was so quiet, and restful. The staff were so polite and respectful, and the room was perfect. I want to be included in your list of notifications when you are having special discounts. We were in room 121 and it was perfect! The cafe was a different experience but well worth the upgrade because the food there was great! Thank you. P.S.-I do not usually do surveys but the stay here warrants a heads up for a great time there.

The room and staff

Cool little "boutique" style hotel in an awesome seaside community. Reasonably sized "mini suite" with a large comfortable bed and a full kitchenette (dishes/silverware, sink, fridge, microwave, etc.) All rooms have a small terrace, so you can sit and enjoy the cool ocean breeze. My room had a lovely partial ocean view (see photo): to address the earlier review that stated the only view available was of trees--that's not entirely true. It really depends upon where your room is located on the property. I was in the middle of the hotel. The property is essentially in a residential area & the trees are on the property of the home that sits directly behind the hotel (I bet you too would have massive palm trees on your property to block the view, if there was a 100 + room hotel facing your house). To get the best view you want to request a room that's on the far end of the property, the opposite end from hotel registration. (Also keep in mind this is NOT beachfront property, so you can still see the other homes in the neighborhood) Nice pool/Jacuzzi area & onsite cafe for breakfast/brunch Cool shops, restaurants, bars, within walking distance. The Del Mar Racetrack/Fairgrounds are 5 minutes by car (can walk, but it's a bit of a trek). Torrey Pines is less than 10 minutes away and it's about 20 drive to the exquisite beaches/shops/and other attractions of La Jolla

No serious complaints but just to present the full picture... The ice machine was broken (there is only 1) 4 days of my stay in the middle of a late summer California (105 degrees) heatwave. Nothing a $3.97-- 20 pound bag of ice from Walmart couldn’t solve. Since I had a freezer in the room, it lasted the entire stay. Also, I had to extend my stay a day at the last minute but my room type was sold out, so I had to give up my ocean view. Everything else about the new room was the same plus it had a nicer kitchenette. Lastly, the cafe closed too early (breakfast only--I'm not really a breakfast person). It would be nice to have a onsite option for lunch or dinner.

The location was great. The hotel was charming. We enjoyed the pool. The front desk person was very friendly and helpful.

There was a restaurant which was closed the first couple of days of our stay. They did provide some pastries, fruit, cereal and yogurt, however, in the front desk area which was nice. We had breakfast one morning during our stay and it was mediocre.

For all who live rural nationwide but need quality medical care come to scripps La Jolla. This best western is in Del Mar almost a straight line and 10 minutes in a car to surgical and other facilities. Then so wonderful to see ocean as rest usually is required. Or for a beach surf trip. They have a small restaurant on site. Cool pool hot jacuzzi. Nice staff which is huge. Only reason I give a 9 is hotel has all kinds of nations flags surrounding building. But no Amaerican flag. Maybe I missed it. I’m not perfect. But I would like to see a flag higher and light up at night.

Nothing great.

Good location, fancy interior with a fridge&freezer, microwave, and a coffee maker. Cafe was in the hotel garden and breakfast was prepared on the request. Bottled water and other snacks were available there and also at the reception. I arrived a few hours earlier than the check-in time, but they offered me a room. Other employees (room cleaning and facility maintenance staffs) were all friendly and nice. I want to spend more time at the hotel on the next time.

The only point that was uncomfortable to me was that the hotel driveway was only available on the road from north (southbound). When driving from south (northbound), you have to make a u-turn at a signal. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

The property is clean and attractive and close to restaurants and a few blocks from the beach. The staff is very kind and helpful. I loved the little cafe on the property. The pool area looked great, although I never used it. The room was clean and comfortable and the tv was easy to use. There was a little kitchenette and the bathroom was nice.

I booked an "ocean view room" thinking I would be much closer to the beach. I don't think I'd spend extra for the ocean view again; while you can see the ocean, the room is directly over the parking lot.

The room was very clean including the bathroom. Everything worked and was well stocked. Lots of lights and plugs including for chargers on both sides of the bed. WiFi is good. The guy checking us in was very welcoming and offered clear explanations to our questions. The included breakfast was excellent and the person working the cafe was very friendly.

The decor in the room is a little dated but we focus more on how clean our hotel rooms are than how pretty they are. This room was very clean!
