Bar/restaurant on property

Was told about car break in problem at check in. Someone tried to break in my vehicle. If management knows about problem they need to take preventive action to solve problem. More lights needed in back parking lot.

The location is what sells me every time, not to mention the restaurant food is super good. Easily the nicest staff at any business on Amelia I’ve encountered. The beach is a short walk across the street and there’s plenty of parking. This was our second stay and we’ll be back for a third!

The shower in the double room we stayed in had a hand held shower head which was partially broken- it kept falling out of the mount. This was the only real issue we experienced. Other than that the room just really needed some cosmetic work, it wasn’t as nice as the Queen room we stayed in previously but still doable.

The location was great. We just had to walk across the street to get to the beach. The room was a nice size, along with a kitchenette in a separate room. The room was clean and quite nice. The price was very reasonable considering the location. The staff were friendly and helpful. When we arrived, we went for a walk along the beach and saw a whale and her calf!!! We were so thrilled. Turns out it was a right whale, which is endangered. We saw this at the end of February, for anyone who is interested.

I don't really have anything negative to say but perhaps one thing to add is that the outside appearance of the hotel is a little run down. Don't let this deter you! We were very happy with our stay.

We stayed in Suite A, with three clean queen bedrooms, one bath, large living room/dining room and a full kitchen. The beds were comfy (three levels of soft, medium, and a firm to choose from). Would be nice if the bedrooms had TVs, but we (husband and grandson) survived with just one in the living room.

-Only one toilet for our six people. There are extra bathrooms on the property, but they were locked when we needed them. It would be nice if guests had access to those when the office is closed. -There is extra street noise in this unit. However, if you wear yourselves out at the beach, the street noise probably won't bother you as much at night. -Even with these two issues, we have already made our reservations for this same unit next summer. 😀

No coffee cups in room. Office was CLOSED. Had to drive to McDonalds. Also....What I didn't like, was that I booked my room almost 4 months ahead and they called me at check in time to tell me they were cancelling my room, due to the AC not working. :( After a nice conversation, they ended up letting me keep my room, and giving the next person a free room with fans for the night. Still extremely irritating, that I would have been the first person they called to cancel, when several of my friends had just booked that week or the week before. That process was pretty bad on their part.

The location was great, price excellent & room comfortable. The motel staff were very pleasant. The bar staff for the most part were very good. One evening the wait staff were not so good.

We had visited before for meals & drinks w/local family. The food & service were super. On one visit this staff we sat for about 15min before we were approached for drink orders. When meals were served no silverware was provided. The tables were not all full & the servers had time to stand together & chat. It was a totally different experience then any previous.

This place was exactly what we didn’t know we were looking for!! I was looking for 2 cheap rooms for our family to stay in the night before we embarked on our first cruise. I found The Beach Surf Motel at an unbeatable price. We ended up staying in there 3 bedroom “room” (more like house… it includes 3 seperate bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining room and kitchen!!) We got in earlier than expected and the room was ready and we were allowed to check in early, so we were able to change and spend more time at the beach. The beds were super comfortable, we had plenty of space for everyone in our family, and the kitchen and dining room was an added bonus for a stay in dinner!! It is right across the street from the beach which made it the perfect location!!

Only slight issue we had is that when we got back from the beach and the kids showered, the tub wouldn’t drain. It was the tiniest inconvenience and we didn’t even bother the wonderful staff. I do know they would have fixed it if we had requested though!!

Room was great. The only problem was the light coming in every window. Woke up at 12:47am thinking we were late to get in our fishing boat... but that is just me. Everything else was wonderful... the only thing else i can say something negative about is, even if you are staying at the hotel, you still have to wait on table to eat.. which took forever. Seems like guest would be the first to seat. But love the waitresses, so perfect and running like crazy. Please tip these girls good yall. They deserve it.

This would seem to be your typical 60s Beach hotel, and it pretty much looks like it from the outside - but the rooms have been wonderfully redone on the inside, awesome. I stayed here a couple years ago - it was great then, and great now as well. Room was good sized, everything in the room worked well and it was comfortable. Great lighting Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Fernandina / Amelia

personal preference I guess - but the bed was high for my taste. wifi was not so strong

We didn't have breakfast. The restaurant was closed when we arrived a little after 8pm. And it didn't look like it was open yet the next morning. We did have drinks and food the following evening and enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the other guests. We especially were happy to have our room there so we didn't have to drive any where. The beds were super comfortable and the whole place was very clean.

The parking was a little far for us to carry our belongings. When we checked in it was dark and we were a little apprehensive about the looks of our room location but as it turned out it was very quiet there and in the light of day it appeared much brighter and inviting.
