The property is arguably the most beautiful we have ever seen, not just in the US, but across the globe. The setting, the facilities, and design is just top notch and we could not imagine a more beautiful property.

Understaffed and (partly) unqualified staff. From start to finish we were not satisfied with the service, starting with the fact that upon check-in we had to wait for hours to get luggage l get delivered to our room and finishing with the fact that one has to wait for 10-30 minutes to get seated for breakfast table (although there were clearly empty tables). Likewise, many of the employees (albeit not everyone) were straight unfriendly or unprofessional (e.g., chewing gum when speaking, etc.). All in all, we get to spend +50 days per annum in hotels across the globe, yet we have rarely seen such poor service, which in our eyes is a big no go with such high price point.

Gen Z doesn’t have time for reviews of their room right now, so I’ll do my best to translate: sushi dining at Welina was the best of the best, coffee from Neighbors with views of the Bay as well as the breakfast buffet was top shelf, Johnny at the rum tasting was awesome, nothing was sus, no one was salty, everything was amazing, no cap.

I liked most of the staff -they're friendly. Great gym Nice sushi restaurant nice room easy check in process good beach service

The room didn't get cleaned early in the day - 1 day it got cleaned around 6pm and we had to raise it with the hotel. The food was good, but not out of this world. Plus everything was very expensive (mother's day buffet of $145pp and it was decent - not worth the money in my opinion) Definitely understaffed - very obvious. We had to wait ages for our bill at dinner one night and we also had an encounter with a waiter that was a bit rude (most of the staff was v nice)

Staying at The 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay was nothing short of magical. The view? Insane. I’m talking jaw-dropping, postcard-perfect scenery that makes you question reality. From sunrise to sunset, every glance out the window felt like stepping into a painting. The food was equally as impressive – fresh, organic, and clearly made with love. It’s rare to find a place that marries luxury with sustainability so seamlessly. Whether it was breakfast by the bay or a casual snack, everything was top-tier. As for the amenities? Pure perfection. Every detail, from the spa to the fitness center, was thoughtfully curated. If you’re looking for a blend of relaxation, luxury, and a deep connection with nature, this is your spot. Can't wait to go back!

Wonderful and inviting design, friendly team, the location is perfect! It’s very unique to be on the ocean with the view of the mountains. Lots of the best parts of the island are nearby. Great spa and gym, all the facilities are excellent in location and maintenance.

It’s clear that a lot of thought was put in the food, but the final result was not balanced, at least for our family taste. The food is very expensive and not fine tuned enough. We loved the sushi and the catch of the day!

Great location with an amazing pool and opportunities for kayaking. The valet service and pool staff were outstanding!

Our check-in experience wasn’t very friendly or welcoming. The mountain-side part of the hotel seemed older, though remodeled, it was clear they had painted over and reused old moldings from the previous hotel. The young, tall waitress at the restaurant on the right during dinner was not attentive at all; she didn’t even provide utensils and seemed disengaged. Perhaps it’s difficult to find excellent staff due to the remote location on the North Shore. The bellman took too long when we were departing, so we ended up carrying all our luggage ourselves to avoid delay. Overall, the service didn’t match the price of the hotel, especially when compared to the Four Seasons.

We were upgraded to a master ocean view suite, which was spectacular. The view and sounds of the ocean were the backdrop to our deeply relaxing and inspiring stay. The location is easily the most beautiful on the island. The swimming beach was fantastic and my husband was pleased to be able to snorkel right on the property every day. The breakfast and different options for food were plentiful, healthy and delicious. And the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, special and comfortable. We also enjoyed the complimentary yoga and sound bath sessions and I enjoyed a world class facial with the excellent Cindy at the spa. We loved the whole experience and will be back!

This is a hard review to write; every corner we turned was magical. Entering the hotel thru a garden/fountain wonderland, tropical cocktail at check in, passing thru lobby with overwhelming terrace/bar sunset, entering an oasis of a white sofa/carpet/woven art separate lounge off the corridor to our room. Bedroom with white plush fur sitting room/live fern on wall in bathroom. Fun to have gardener come to room for a fresh fern change. Doug at beach equipment rental very personal and informative on beaches and conditions. Adult infinity pool. Peaceful. Peaceful.

Concierge appropriately concerned about the approaching storm and roads washing out, but wish we had been told an online reservation was needed to enter Haena State Park. There is no cell reception at the park to make one. They did recommend Tahiti Noi restaurant; not to be missed!

We enjoyed the views of the bay and the restaurants. The adult pool and spa is a plus. The location is a good central location to explore the island.

We were somewhat disappointed with the room size especially with the cost of the room. $4,000 for 3 nights we expected a fabulous room. There was only one small sink and little room to kick back and relax. Ice had to be requested and it took so long that one time we just went down to the pool to have a cold drink. The room had a cake with a card for two guests that were not us. Although we were disappointed we enjoyed the stay.

The property, staff, view, pool area, lobby, entrance, rooms, etc.

The food was too earthy for me. Everything else was off the charts.
