I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Metropolis and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, which was a big plus since I was traveling for business.

We rented one of the King suites with a jetted tub, which we absolutely loved! I enjoyed the free breakfast, my husband wasn't always a fan of it, but he's a pickier eater than myself. We loved the location to everything, just a 5 minute drive or less to most of the places we went to see. Loved the comfortable beds so much! The place had an indoor pool and hot tub also.

The first day we were there the power went out 3 times for a few minutes each time. They seemed to figure out the issue because the next couple of days we didn't have a problem. The jets on the hot tub weren't working either but I'm so glad that I had booked a room with a jetted tub so that we had our own hot tub basically.

When I checked in I told the man I was paying with cash, he said ok just pay at check out and then asked for the card I booked with, I showed it to him, after I said again I was paying with cash, and he tried to run the card and told me it was declined(it was locked). I told him again I wanted to pay with cash not the card that's linked to my booking account. He then said well give me the money now and $100 deposit. It made it very confusing since I told him from the start I was paying with cash.

They're in the middle of renovations, so there's some messiness There's no full length mirror, no other mirror except in the bathroom, but the bathroom is so small 2 people can't be in there, so you have to take turns getting ready.

Beds were very comfortable and very clean rooms. Pool was nice for the kids and Hot tub was great for us adults. Staff checked on us at the pool and brought us more towels as they were out.

Our room was facing the back parking lot with several bright parking lot lights lighting up our room at night. The curtains were mostly sheer and the heavier curtains were stationary, so couldn't move to make the room darker.
