If you love New Orleans jazz, this hotel perfect: it's really close to most of the main bars/venues and it hosts fabulous bands in its lobby most nights. The hotel itself is a glorious, old (1830s?) somewhat quirky place with a lovely courtyard and helpful, friendly staff. I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to friends.

The hotel advertises an accessibility room for those less mobile guests, my husband being one of them. We booked this room. However, when we arrived, there was really loud music in the lobby. The person who checked us in said there was no way we could stay in the accessibility room because of the loud music, and so we were shown to a (small with tiny windows) top floor room. My husband managed fine but if we'd had the choice we'd probably have booked a lower, larger room with proper windows instead. The hotel shouldn't advertise the accessibility room if it can't be used.

We love the location and have stayed at this hotel several times. It was clean, the staff was great, and loved the live music in the lobby. The park across the street is wonderful to enjoy a cup of coffee. Near all the bars and live music on Frenchmen yet we heard nothing when we went to sleep.

The only negative was the room temperature. They were having issues and were addressing swiftly but never felt fully resolved. Our room the last night was rough.

Excellent location, in a quieter area of French Quarter, facing a small park that was perfect for walking my dog and having some green space. Private gated parking was very handy and safe when traveling long distances with lots of luggage and gear. Several good local eateries and non-touristy music bars were within a few blocks. The best part is that the hotel is a known location for local highly talented musicians to have jam sessions in the lobby or right outside the hotel. The night I stayed featured 3 hours of live New Orleans style jazz, with several different top-notch trumpeters, pianists, bassists playing together and jamming to a small but truly appreciative audience.

Nothing!

We stayed after the epic snow storm and we could not get a flight home for three days as the airport was closed. Our original hotel's shut as there was no heating and water leaks everywhere. The staff here could not have been more kind, helpful and awesome especially given the difficult situation in New Orleans at the time with no public transport for days, and most main roads, shops, restaurants and attractions being closed. However the live music continued in the bar during the evening and we really appreciated and enjoyed that.

Nothing, full marks given for the wonderful staff and jazz!

Superb location in the French Quarter with loads of bars and live music close by. The room was comfortable, particularly the bed but the room did not always get serviced - it was a bit hit and miss to be honest. The hot water was also sporadic and showers were often cold or lukewarm. There is music in the hotel every night until at least midnight so don’t stay if you like an early night. We loved the music and didn’t mind but it won’t be for everyone.

if you are looking to be where the music is, this is the hotel for you! It’s 1 block away from all the usual Frenchmen St hangouts right across from a beautiful park. The hotel lobby is becoming a popular music venue with great music every night. The bartenders mix up delicious personal cocktails to add to the festive vibe. The hotel itself exudes New Orleans charm from the architecture to the friendly staff. Our room had a balcony overlooking the park. We could sit outside and listen to the fabulous music in the the lobby below. If you are looking for a quiet hotel experience and like an early bedtime this is probably not your place ,but if you want to experience true New Orleans this is it.

Everything exceeded our expectations! The staff in the hotel and the on-site bar, especially Amanda, were beyond amazing and everyone made us feel at home with their hospitality. The neighborhood is super eclectic with lots of great people, great restaurants, and great music. This will be our go-to place for our yearly NOLA trip!

Live music from the local bars and the hotel lobby occur almost every night, so if you require a silent sleep, this won't be your place. However, we embraced being lured to sleep by the jazz music and the sounds of the neighborhood.

The location was good it is in a lively area. The staff were brilliant, I was robbed the first night and the next morning the girl in reception was so helpful and accommodating helping me get sorted (even letting me use her phone). If it wasn't for her it would have led to worse problems for me. Forever grateful. I would return because of that alone. My room was nice and the downstairs bar was good too.

Everything was fine. Maybe the breakfast could be a little better but generally ok.

Staff was amazing! Friendly and helpful. Location, location, location! Everything is walkable or a street car ride away. Being on Frenchman was a blast. The Royal Frenchman is the perfect blend of old and new, clean, comfortable, and fun.

With music in the lobby each evening and being on Frenchman, if the sounds of New Orleans late into the night isn’t your thing, bring ear plugs :)

The staff was amazing! Very helpful and accommodating. Michelle and April were so good to us. Coming from Miami were most of the hotels are very new, we were a little concerned viewing the royal from the outside. This is a older established city with lots of history and the buildings are also older but have tons of charm and character. The band does play loud and we enjoyed them tremendously. Plan accordingly if it will bother you but don’t let it keep you from passing this great place.

I hate the fact I forgot our kids gifts in the drawer. Rookie mistake!
