Charming 19th century /victorian house in effectively a charming 19th century town. Creaky everything in the house. Brilliant position close to Asbury Park and Ocean Grove amenities. Lovely to sit on one of the verandas and watch the world go by.

What you have to realise (and I didn't) is that this is really a bed and bath. There are no room services-great if you are staying for the weekend, but not if you are staying longer.. Room is tiny and has no lounge, with just one chair to sit in. There is a communal lounge across the hall. There's no space in the room for a coffee machine, just one for the whole building.

Quaint hotel. Free coffee. Bright room with good a/c and ceiling fan. Clean sheets and bathroom. Excellent shower pressure. Small fridge in room. Close to beach and boardwalk. Easy free street parking. Walkable & safe neighborhoods near canal, green space and beach 1 and 1/2 block away.

TV was poorly positioned on left side of bed. Impossible to watch from bed without neck ache. Small room so very little alternative to comfortably watch tv from bed. We were there 3 nights. No room cleaning or towel change. Although we had fresh coffee, a light breakfast would have been nice. Would stay again. Price is a bit steep but adequate for time of year.

Easy access. Simple for needs (only stayed one night). Close to Asbury Park, easy walk. Was there in March so the beach wasn't really in play but also close to the beach. There are not many rooms, so there is not a lot of traffic. Also, there is pretty easy, free street parking.

No soap. No tissues. Pictures left me to believe we would have a seating area but that is common between the two rooms on the third floor.

Nice clean room with private bathroom. The Full size bed could use updating. Shared balconies were comfortable with nice view of canal. Walking distance to beach and Asbury Park. Coffee machine available 23/7. Fridge in our 2B room. No ice.

All transactions were done online. You have to docusign an agreement before they send you access codes to enter hotel and room. No physical person was available. I booked this room in 6 months ago. Didn’t read all the way through. Waited an hour and numerous calls to a help desk to access room. Room has minimal necessities.

The Melrose was a great place to stay. Walking distance to the beach. Room was clean and large with our own private bath. We had never stayed in Ocean Grove just always drove down for the day. Staff was friendly and so were the people we met staying there. Very quiet. We were happy to get away for a mother daughter weekend and stay in a nice place.

We had a bit of an issue with getting beach badges through the Melrose. The link on the page didn't work for us. Paying for your badges up at the beach is $12. Through them it's $8. But it was rectified with them and we were able to get them. The Keurig in the lobby stopped working, so we had to drive to get our morning coffee. No biggie for us. We still were able to sit on the porch in the morning and enjoy the view.

Beautiful place one block from beach and only a few blocks from the charming shops in Ocean Grove and also only a few blocks from Asbury Park. Room was meticulously maintained and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was just coffee but that was ok

There was absolutely no where to PARK. We drove around for 45 minutes and then parked in Asbury Park and walked to The Melrose. I loved the room but probably would not stay here again because we couldn't walk back cause the gate to the bridge was locked at 1030. So we had to drive back and again find parking

The room was super comfortable and had all the amenities I needed for my stay. The house is adorable! And located in a great neighbourhood and all in walkable distance to the Asbury Park boardwalk and cafes across in Main St.

Location was wonderful felt very safe everything was clean had everything that I needed. The lobby was stocked with coffee, creamers microwave.

Clean and comfortable. Free coffee is a great touch. Easy check-in/check-out. Reasonable price.

Pillows were a little small but no big deal
