The room was very clean and comfortable. While there were lots of guests, the room was quiet and the public spaces stayed well maintained. The day staff were welcoming and friendly. The facilities (pool, fitness center, breakfast room) were spotless. For the most part, the breakfast was very good.

The first day, the breakfast meat (sausages) was overdone to the point of tasting burnt. Instead of taking the loss and replacing the tray with fresh sausages, they left them there to be eaten. Otherwise, the breakfast experience was fine. Also, while the daytime staff was friendly and engaged, the guy on night duty was a "grunter." I needed something for my room, and when I went to the desk to ask, he was blunter than he needed to be (he was checking someone in) and when he brought the item to the room, he barely said two words even in answer to a question about returning the item. I understand it's the night shift, but it doesn't reflect the overall tone of the hotel, which is much friendlier.

Always a great stay at The Hotel Salem. Clean rooms, the staff are friendly and breakfast is always good! Area seems secure and the beds are pretty comfortable. This has been my favorite place to stay in Salem when I come to visit my mom.

Love the shower pressure! However, the water was barely warm this visit, both evening and morning showers. Even my significant other said the water was cool and he takes tepid showers. I always appreciate a nice shower here because we come to help my mom that lives local and the jobs we help with are usually cold and wet, dirty or both.

The service was excellent. I wish i knew her name, but the lady at the front desk was so kind. I got there way too early, she recommended a place to go have lunch while arranging a possible early check in for me. Called me shortly after to say my room was ready. The breakfast is a proper full breakfast buffet. The room was big, comfy and clean. And not much noise through the walls. The area is perfect distance away from city center, in a more suburb area, with everything you could need on terms of food and stores. Felt very safe in that area. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Location was good with shopping within walking distance. No unhoused tents in site and plenty of parking.

Random truck pulling a trailer took 10 spaces and parked within 3 ft of my car. Not sure why they would pull in if you have a travel trailer to sleep in or not stop at a rest area if passing thru since this property is not next to freeway. I was under the impression it was private property. Morning crew at front desk 2- females seemed bothered I would bring the subject up. Eye rollers . Was told people sometimes pull in to park and sleep. Again under assumption it’s private property. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Staff was super friendly especially the maintenance guy who I ran into in the hall more than once. Breakfast was AWESOME! So refreshing to stay somewhere that gets that it is imporant that folks leave your property happy and full rather than hungry. Really makes for a better start to the day not having to figure out somewhere to eat. Room and all comfortable & clean but staff friendliness & their breakfast are what stood out the most. I would stay again.

Only issue was no way to make tea in the room. Used a paper cup to heat water in micro & it almost caught fire. Not everyone is a coffee drinker so something for us tea people would make a difference.

The staff were great. Very helpful and responsive to requests. The room was large, clean and comfortable. You can tell it's an older property that has been revamped. They did a fine job with it. The breakfast was excellent and varied items were available. It was easy access to and from the freeway and very close to shopping and dining.

This is just personal preference, but although I like a firm bed, this seemed a little stiff. Again, just personal preference and it doesn't take away from a great stay.

We had a king suite during our stay. There is plenty of room to feel comfortable. The layout of the room is convenient as well. Our bed was comfortable, and we had one of the best nights of sleep. The room had a microwave, refrigerator, and a coffeepot. Very nice water pressure in the shower. The breakfast in the morning had plenty of choices. The staff in there kept up with keeping the food replenished so it stayed fresh and kept up with removing dirty dishes and keeping the tables and floors clean. We didn't use the pool or fitness room so I cannot comment on those. The hotel is conveniently located to stores, restaurants, bars, and drug store, and area sights of interest. I-5 isn't too far from the hotel, maybe five miles. This was our second stay with Hotel Salem. We'll be back for more visits in the future.

I think all hotels should have a night light to make late night bathroom trips safer instead of having to keep the bathroom light on with the door closed to use as a night light.

The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. The room was laid out well and had good lighting, which seems to be very rare for hotels. There was enough vanity space for both my husband and myself. The bed and pillows were comfortable and it was quiet at night. We slept well. Having hot breakfast options was nice. We stayed during a snow/ice event so ended up spending more time in our room than is typical, which made it's comfort even more important. There is a lot to walk to from the hotel (in normal weather) and it is conveniently next to a Trader Joe's and has a nice brewery about a half a mile away.

There are no real complaints. We were completely comfortable. I would suggest adding a small table to place coffee cups on near the sofa. I only rarely like hotel breakfast so believe most people would enjoy the options offered here.

Breakfast had a lot of choices and the coffee was good. Plenty of seating and an attendant cleaning tables and refilling food choices. It was a pleasant way to start the day. I also liked the dog potty area. It was well lit and had different surfaces for your dog to use, bark, rock and grass.

Not really a big deal, but only having one sidewalk to cross to the other side of the parking lot. When people are checking in and out they block that sidewalk with their cars which makes it a little difficult to cross over the rocks to the other side.

Easy to access, good parking, safe and well lit place to walk my dog. Exceptional staff that were friendly and accommodating.

First room I was given was blazing hot although remote thermostat said 68. It would also have been a long walk to get my dog out. Fortunately they were able to change my room. New one had much easier access for my old dog. It was noisy since right by lobby and had no tub since it was an ADA room, but I still appreciated the switch.
