To start with, we had such a wonderful and comfortable stay at The Hotel Salem. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, they truly made us feel at home. I was so touched when they surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and candies for my birthday. Special thanks to Rachel (Hotel Manager) and the whole team for such a thoughtful gesture that made my day extra special 💕 We also appreciated their helpful suggestions on where to buy local souvenirs, which made exploring Salem even more fun. This city holds a special place in our hearts, not only for its charm and history but because of the warm and hospitable people we met here starting with the amazing team at this hotel. Thank you so much for making our stay memorable! Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Salem. ❤️

Nothing. Everything is amazing

The location was close to everything we needed to do - shopping at the Trader Joe’s next door, as well as down the street was a Walmart. It was super convenient.

Ok, the main issue we had with both rooms was the shower curtain. Both rooms had curtains that slide to one side or the other leaving a wet mess in the bathroom. The width of the curtain wasn’t long enough and the curtain rod must have been at an angle because the curtain always wanted to gather up more towards the center. I had to put painters tape on both ends of the rod and have a tail hanging out so that the curtain hole can go past it and be held in place by the tail. Finally figured it out on the second day.

We sold our house and hit the road with our 3 & 7 year old kids about 6 weeks ago, I say that to say- We've stayed at a lot of places in this pricerange, this is the first I'm reviewing. The building looks handsom (we book-on-taped Charlottes Web) from the outside and even better on the inside. The staff was clearly enchanted by some kind of customer service Godmother, it was really clear they wanted us to be very happy with anything under their control and I appreciate that vibe in exchange for our families hard earned budget hotel funds! The rooms were spacious, lacked the oft encountered campfire warmed gym sock nostril punch in lieu of simply pleasant near nothingness hitting the olfactory senses, clean sheen and comfortable beds. If it's in your budget any given night, I think you'll be happy you did.

The room was large and spotless! The hotel is within walking distance to a couple of small places to eat, and Trader Joe's. What helped make this hotel wonderful was a lovely housekeeper. She stated she has worked as a housekeeper for many years. However, she doesn't want to retire because she loves her job and the people she works with. She calls them her family! She is a very special lady and I hope the hotel knows how lucky they are to have her!

I didn't explore the area very well, because I was there only one night, but I didn't see any comfortable, sit down, and have a drink type of restaurant within walking distance.

The room was very clean and comfortable. While there were lots of guests, the room was quiet and the public spaces stayed well maintained. The day staff were welcoming and friendly. The facilities (pool, fitness center, breakfast room) were spotless. For the most part, the breakfast was very good.

The first day, the breakfast meat (sausages) was overdone to the point of tasting burnt. Instead of taking the loss and replacing the tray with fresh sausages, they left them there to be eaten. Otherwise, the breakfast experience was fine. Also, while the daytime staff was friendly and engaged, the guy on night duty was a "grunter." I needed something for my room, and when I went to the desk to ask, he was blunter than he needed to be (he was checking someone in) and when he brought the item to the room, he barely said two words even in answer to a question about returning the item. I understand it's the night shift, but it doesn't reflect the overall tone of the hotel, which is much friendlier.

We loved Hotel Salem. The property was clean and tidy, the staff was courteous, friendly and efficient. Our room was comfortable and clean. The love seat was nice enjoyed by our two young and rambunctious boys. Pool was great and the food for breakfast was plentiful and had a meat option. What really put it over the top for us was the location. It’s right next to a Walgreens and a Trader Joe’s. We didn’t need anything from the drugstore but picked up snacks, water and 6-packs of some excellent Oregon made cider and beer. We’d stay here again absolutely.

The property was very attractive, perfectly clean. From the front door and lobby we were charmed. Every member of the staff was very kind and helpful. Our bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with so many choices: hot oatmeal with six toppings, waffles, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, ham, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, berries, juices, coffee hot chocolate, tea, Danish pastries, toast, fresh fruit, and more. There is an indoor pool and gym. All just wonderful.

Nothing was anything but wonderful.

Always a great stay at The Hotel Salem. Clean rooms, the staff are friendly and breakfast is always good! Area seems secure and the beds are pretty comfortable. This has been my favorite place to stay in Salem when I come to visit my mom.

Love the shower pressure! However, the water was barely warm this visit, both evening and morning showers. Even my significant other said the water was cool and he takes tepid showers. I always appreciate a nice shower here because we come to help my mom that lives local and the jobs we help with are usually cold and wet, dirty or both.

First of all, the staff, especially Daniel. He has always been kind and respectful, as with the other staff. The rooms are always clean, bathrooms are spacious and breakfast is amazing. Been able to get early check in and outs with no problems or fees.

Don't really care for the soap and shampoo pumps in bathtub/showers. Other than that, this is a great place for the price point and location.

The service was excellent. I wish i knew her name, but the lady at the front desk was so kind. I got there way too early, she recommended a place to go have lunch while arranging a possible early check in for me. Called me shortly after to say my room was ready. The breakfast is a proper full breakfast buffet. The room was big, comfy and clean. And not much noise through the walls. The area is perfect distance away from city center, in a more suburb area, with everything you could need on terms of food and stores. Felt very safe in that area. Definitely recommend this hotel.
