The hotel (we had never tried a Holiday Inn Hotel before) exceeded our expectations. Great rooms, quiet, super clean, very comfortable beds (!), great breakfast with extended hours, friendly and helpful staff, easy parking, great access to downtown Newport News, close to Buckroe Beach in Hampton, and not too far from Virginia Beach for a day trip to see the aquarium and boardwalk area. The Mariner's Museum and Park in Newport News was wonderful! Our 8-year-old daughter loved it! Very enjoyable 3-day trip (we live in Northern Virginia) and we were very impressed with the hotel. It made all the difference!

Property in main areas are clean and offer different entertainment options, like tv, games table etc. the pool needs maintenance, in regards of cleaning the floors , the pool have to much bleach that my swimming suit turns almost white, and the original color was blue. The elevators needs to be clean more often. On the room it was comfy but some of the furniture needs to be fixed.

The food I got was not good. I ordered a burger and tater tots, and the tots were barely warm. From the presentation, they looked as though they had been at the bottom of previously cooked tots. I was really disappointed as the eating spot is really marketed within the hotel, so I thought it would be a great experience, but it wasn't.

The room was very clean, almost spotless. Didn't have time to visit the restaurant, but the aroma made me hungry. I like the free parking. Very, very, very nice. This may be my getaway place next time I visit.

The view of a roof overtop the back of the hotel, a cracked concrete paved area, and some a half fallen tree. Lol

The hotel's location and our floor overall were quiet. Located near the elevators, we barely heard people talking loudly at all. Very peaceful at night. Ed checked us in. Reading the reviews, he was mentioned often. It was my pleasure to have him as our desk hospitality personnel. Ed was very professional, patient, and efficient. Staff greeted us as we left and when we returned to the hotel despite the time of the day or night. I especially want to mention the female with pretty pink nails (didn't get her name) who went above and beyond that bought fresh clean washed, right out of the dryer, warm, towels and washcloths straight to our room before we had to leave for our event. Thank you!

The use of the microwave and small refrigerator. The plate wouldn't stay in place when it was on. The refrigerator barely kept our bottles of water chilled. So, keeping our leftover food had to be trashed. The chance of eating spoiled food was a huge fear to me. No manual temperature dial was found. Parking. Handicap parking. There are no signs posted where to walk to avoid the steep hill of steps or lights along the walkway by the steps outside on the slope/hill.

I like the location and the fact Burger Theory was on site to help with or food options, instead of trying to find different places to eat. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in so many ways to assist us in our stay.

My Family and I don't have anything to complain about.

Loved the indoor restaurant Burger Theory. Loved the complimentary coffee and tea. Loved the heated indoor pool as well as the lounge area.

Sheets in both queen beds were not cleaned, lots of stains on the sheets which were very noticeable. Housecleaning was not able to provide me with washcloths, only towels — called the staff downstairs a total of 3 times in on day for washcloths (morning, noon and evening, did not receive them until a hour before midnight.

Friendly staff, nice clean and comfortable room, and good location.

Only thing I can say might be a negative was we went to the pool, and there was a group of about 10 kids with no parental supervision and they were running around and acting like feral animals otherwise it was a great stay

Ideal location as came to town for 10k which was close proximity. Burger Theory was so convenient being located in hotel. Lobby was nice & clean good area to sit and chat. Room was clean upon check in.

Unfortunately saw cockroach in bathroom the morning after check in. Appeared to be from hole in wall behind bathroom vanity. Did not alert staff as just killed it.

Breakfast we had one waiter he was very very polite took special care of my family even until the last day … will look for him on our next stay…

When approach by the young lady waitress she seem annoyed when she spoke to me … I only ask her was she our waitress.. she replied to me not in a friendly courteous way to hold on she will be with me which I understand but is how she said it.. again I approached her she used the commit WHAT IS THE PROBLEM I never said there was a problem… she was assuming again. As stated the gentleman who waited in my family who book a wedding and reception at the hotel took very good care in politeness of our guess for the reception held there over 250 people… Will come back and refer our friends and family Dates we attended March 17-19
