Beautiful tiling and Indochina aesthetics. Spacious and comfortable. Fabulous food with helpful and attentive crew. Nothing was ever a problem We were very impressed with the way they dealt with a very difficult situation after Super Typhoon Yagi hit Halong Bay and Hanoi. I will highly recommend to friends and family. The owner of the company was front and centre from day one as we were one of the first cruises allowed back in the bay after the devastating result of the typhoon. We met many local Vietnamese people who were so helpful when they would have had family of their own impacted by the storm. We felt very lucky compared to many others in the region at the time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as it will take some time to recover. We are confident that their resilience and love for their country will ensure things will eventually bounce back.

Look, the halong/lan ha bays are tourist traps, activities are dull, and there is this feeling of being moved like cattle BUT if you are still willing to do the cruise in the bay, i don't think that you have many options better than Genesis. Staff is fantastic and attentive, the boat is nice and small, and the food is not excellent, but more than correct. My advise: do a 2 night and skip most of the activities (only Cat Ba village is worth it, and not much), the best things here are the view and the boat, enjoy them and relax.
Rooms in the first floor are noisy and at some moments your privacy can be compromised (see pic) As said, activities are kind of dull, and prices are obviously bloated (drinks 7 euro). Bathroom is slighly smelly as it does not drain as it should.

Beautiful boat with large comfortable rooms. Spacious bathroom and show with a soaker tub. Safe in the room along with coffee making supplies for the morning. Staff were excellent and attentive. Lots of food and were able to accommodate my shellfish allergy during meal service. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of options. Happy hour was great for pre-dinner cocktails. The tours organized by the boat were ok and gave you the opportunity to kayak and swim. Visiting the village felt like a time filler but again it was nice to see another area. We did not bike as it had rained earlier and the roads wore a bit slick. Local boats with come by the ship and sell beer and snacks at cheaper prices that the boat bar. Nice outside sitting area to enjoy a beer and take in the area. We did the 2 night tip but would cut it to 1 night if we could do it over again considering the cost. I would have rather spent the extra money elsewhere in Vietnam.
Expensive but overall a great experience. Would consider only doing 1 night if we returned and spending more elsewhere.

Luxurious! Wonderfully attentive hosts, amazing food (more than we could eat!), and plenty of free bottled water. The positioning of the bed directly opposite the large windows is perfect for viewing the karsts. Unlike other cruises, they purposefully choose a more serene part of the bay, which makes a huge difference. Would highly recommend!
I recommend splurging on a first or second tier room. The cheapest tier rooms are on the first floor of the ship, which means that you can hear people walking and moving around on the hardwood floor above you. A pair of earplugs will help at night if you want to go to bed before the activities are over and are a light sleeper.

We had a great time, our room was amazing and the crew were excellent.
We didn’t have breakfast as it was served way too early around 6am. It’s only a small thing but we splashed out on the panorama suite and were slightly disappointed that their small ferry boat was attached to the back of the boat so it didn’t feel so private. I would also recommend that genesis upgrade this smaller ferry boat so transfer time from the shore to the main boat is faster.

An excellent experience all around from pick up in Hanoi. The transfer cars were very nice and water supplied. A very comfortable journey. On arrival check in was easy and efficient. All of the food was excellent, we did not have a bad meal and staff really took care of you. Special thanks to Jonny the catering manager as he did a great job. Also Henry was excellent at taking care of us and a lot of fun! Lots of activities but there’s no pressure to partake so you can opt in/out of what you want to do. The rooms were beautiful and views breathtaking.
The ship was slightly worn but we were told that the annual painting cleaning takes place in March. Unfortunately we were on board just before so may find the same if there at the same time.

Well organised from booking onwards. They also help with onward travelling arrangements, everybody is always helpful. Amazing rooms, good hot shower, the big and clean window is like a moving digital photo frame. Loads of plants on the cruise. Staffs are very friendly and attentive, they really try to make guests happy. Food was good and plenty, they try to help if you have food requirements. Wished we stayed an extra night so it’s not rushed
If I have to say something it would be the cruise needs some maintenance on the wood, looks abit worn, so slightly different from the pictures. Maybe softer pillow and better/nicer music during happy hour that fits the ambiance

The cruise was definitely a luxury cruise, the room was stunning with an unbelievable view and the facilities were superb. The food was fantastic and plentiful and the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the 3 day 2 night cruise and it was worth every cent, we simply had an unforgettable experience.
The rooms were stunning, a great view, a super comfortable bed and a great bath! The boat was luxurious.

Staff were super friendly, especially the guy arranging all the activities, who gave a full run down of the cruise. Bedrooms, spacious clean and comfortable. Lovely ambience, with it being limited to around 20 cabins in total, so very relaxing. Food of good quality and variety. Ha Long Bay was wonderful even with the heavy clouds and thunderstorms. We were lucky, as the previous days cruises had been cancelled due to a high winds caused by a Typhoon in central Vietnam Definitely worh the experience, but in my opinion only for 1 night.
No problems, but for awareness here is how our cruise and I think most others, work. You transfer to and from the Quay side, by small tender boat, with the actual big ship moored 20mins or so away, already in the Bay. Big ship cruises around for a while, then stops while you use the tender again to go off on trips like canoeing, visit caves etc. Big boat moors in the bay overnight, although I could still see the shoreline, cruises around a little bit again in the morning. Return to Quay by tender.

Wow. What an experience!!! I did a lot of research before selecting the cruise, as there is a lot of choice out there. Genesis had really good reviews across all platforms so seemed like a safe option. It was the most expensive accommodation we paid for during our Vietnam trip, but we expected it. When I say it’s expensive, there is a lot included. All your meals and excursions. Definitely worthwhile doing a 2 day trip because you get to see more of Ha Long Bay / Cat Ba island. Food was excellent and the staff were truly amazing. The room is super luxurious - I’m not usually a bath person but I had two because the view was too good to miss.
