I had stayed at The Light Hotel in November 2015. Jenny Hoang and her mother were wonderful hosts back then, and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Jenny arranged for me to go on a 1-night cruise while in Ha Long. When I decided to revisit Vietnam this October, I contacted The Light Hotel and was pleased to learn from Jenny that her family still owns and operates the hotel. Jenny and her mother have not changed in the past 9 years: still warm and very welcoming. Joyful reunion. The hotel has expanded from 2 levels of rooms to 6 levels. My room was on level 5 with a view overlooking part of the city. The accommodation is new, spacious, very clean with all the amenities of a 5-star hotel. The breakfast was varied and delicious. In summary, I highly recommend The Light Hotel for your stay in Ha Long. You will cherish your time at this family hotel.

A very good place i would like to come back whenever im at Ha Long Bay. Kinda like how good it was even tho it just a standard room at cheap price. Couldn't ask too much cause you get what you pay for! Besides, they also provide laundry services and tours around the bay which is pretty good and convenient! Good location, the food was amazing, and specially thanks to all of the friendly and helpful Receptionist at the front desk. They're served!

Place is pretty new so all the facilities and stuff are still quite nice. Awesome view on the pool area, pool size is decent enough. Family room is pretty spacious, cozy and quite relaxing to stay at. Owner is pretty friendly and accommodating! I asked for a little birthday cake to surprise my son and she provided one free of charge! Really really appreciate that!😊

Stayed 3 days and availed of 2 free breakfast but it was the same for both days, not much variety and on the second morning we came down at 9 and some of the food options (fruit, bread, & butter) were gone already and no more refills. Lesson learned: come down for breakfast earlier! :) No coffee cups provided for hot instant coffee or tea, only little glasses that were also used for juices/water. Not much of the hotel or management’s fault but our room is on the same floor as the pool and the local guests with kids were quite noisy and we could hear them so loud even when the door’s shut, early even after 9pm when the pool is supposed to be closed already. Could also hear all the noise of the Vietnamese family staying next door.

The breakfast is consistently good. I would like to see more variety, some cereals etc. The pool is great, the beverage prices are good and the staff are friendly and very helpful.

The beds are very uncomfortable. If you go for a lower priced room, you will be put in the basement. The hallway light is left on all night and shines into the room. If you try to turn it off someone will turn it back on. Exceptionally annoying.

Our triple room at the back corridor facing the east was bright, sunny, and airy, and having a little patio accessible from the outside, overlooking the Sun Wheel and cable car line at the distance. Overall, a charming, quiet, relaxing place, with a rooftop pool, although it was closed for us in January.

Furnishings and bathroom was a little old, but functional. Breakfast was quite basic and boring, but in a satisfactory, ample, buffet style portions.

the room was very modern, spacious and clean. great wifi and air con. really great value for money (we did a one night boat cruise through ha long bay and paid for the hotel room also as it was so cheap!) nice roof top pool. good location to walk to restaurants and Sun World although, there’s not much to actually do in Ha Long itself.

we had breakfast included. there wasn’t a lot on offer and when we went down at about 8am, most items were gone. they need to put more fruit out. we did laundry through them and I explicitly explained not to put my clothes in the dryer - to dry them in the sun only, and my washing came back within a couple of hours and had definitely been put through the dryer and shrunk a lot of my clothes which was pretty disappointing. if you’re sharing the room with a friend, just note that there’s not much privacy with the bathroom. there’s no actual separate bathroom - the vanity is in the bedroom and the toilet and shower have glass doors.

Excellent breakfast. Good location, close to the market and shops. Smiling staff. You can park your motorcycle here.

The room is downstairs and the window overlooks the wall of another house 10 centimeters away. No good view and little light, but if you are only staying at the hotel, then there are no problems.

We spent the first day going to the sunworld park and cable car it was a short walk down to the main street after arriving around 11am. The hotel helped us with booking a 4 hour from 2pm to 6pm 2nd day and a 6 hour from 12pm to 6pm 3rd day Ha Long bay cruise. we are now waiting to head to Sapa around 10pm which will take about a 7 hour drive to arrive around 6 or 7am. The price was fair and the staff spoke decent English which made everything easy.

One of the best beds I had in Vietnam! The family room is super comfy and big and has a great view. The roof top swimming pool has a great view too! I fell sick there and the staff helped me out with painkillers and was very nice! It's an awesome price point!

The breakfast could have been more varied and it was mostly not to my (Western) taste.

Lovely rooms, Extremely helpful staff. Poil refreshing. Ha long for us was a necessity rather than a destination as we were travelling to a small island so it was lovely to have a good hotel with a great pool to occupy us while we waited for our ferry.

No fridge in room. This is so useful and we have had in other rooms of a similar price Breakfast the eggs were cold.
