it was amazing to sleep in this hotel. we could check in as early as 8:00 in the morning. large, clean room, with a large window. à la carte breakfasts made fresh. coffee and sweets at the reception 24 hours a day. The hotel has bicycles. the last day surprised us very much. when we knew that we wouldn't have time to eat breakfast because we had a bus to Cat Ba and we had to go there, the owner made us a takeaway breakfast, gave us a whole container of fruit and attention!! she called the agency at our bus crossing to make sure where the pick-up was and took us there by car. it was incredibly nice. We are very pleased and recommend your hotel to everyone. Thank you again!!

We stayed here for four weeks whilst working as digital nomads and it was a wonderful set up. Our hosts were super kind and helpful, always ready to lend a hand. The owner even gave us a lift to our sleeper bus when we checked out as the shuttles were too busy. The room itself was beautiful, with high ceilings and large windows. There was plenty of room for both my husband and I to work comfortably.

The only downside was the location which for some may be tricky if you are looking for good local food options. But if you don't mind taking a Grab it's still doable. All of the local sites are very accessible with some transport!

We booked The friendly Home after reading excellent reviews & it certainly didn't disappoint. We have been travelling for 7 weeks & this hotel has to be the best by far. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Hugh room & excellent breakfast choice. The owner very kindly organised tours for us & drove us on the first tour with 2 excellent tour guides. The girl who took us on the 1st tour was amazing at taking photos. Thanks to her we have brilliant pics of Trang An. The staff all made you feel soo welcome & couldn't do enough for you. The also had 2 lovely well manared kids. Flanty ( hope i spelt the name right) is the kindest person..soo attentive & willing to help you. Thank you for a great stay. 🇮🇪

This is a family run guesthouse and hotel that offers exceptional service. Seldom have we felt so much appreciation as guests. We are used to plan everything by ourselves but soon learned that the Friendly Home Hotel offers trips that are carefully planned and a lot of fun. The owner organized a guide to accommodate our language. The guide was very friendly, humble and highly educated. We did 3 different trips and would recommend each and every one of them. The owner knows every single detail - where to take pictures, what to be mindful of, how to adapt to the weather etc. We stopped in the middle of the road to take pictures of the rice fields just as they were re sown, had the opportunity to take pictures of the mountains as they were glowing from the setting sun. We saw birds, buffalos etc etc. Oh and let’s not forget the meals that were cooked for us. All of them were delicious and we tried half of the menu. Our stay at Ninh Binh was a dream come true, thanks to the family at the Friendly Home Hotel.

The host was really nice, he can help setting up any trip or visit around Ninh Binh and help booking buses to other cities in Vietnam. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was great, not a buffet, you would order from a menu with lots of choices (sweet, savory or typical vietnamese food).

Maybe the only bug is the position, it's a bit far from the touristic attractions like Hang Mua, Tam Coc or Trang An but it's just a 30 min walk to the beautiful street of Hoa Lu Old Town and anyway, you can rent bikes or scooters directly from the host for a very cheap price.

Beautiful little hotel tucked away off the main street. Close walking distance into town. Clean, comfortable room with everything you need. Great tour selection available, including transfers to and from other areas.Mr Truong and his family are amazing people. I was a little sick when I arrived, so he took me to the local pharmacy and got some supplies. When I was getting worse, he drove me to the hospital and spent a few hours there with me translating while I got all of my tests done. Once I had antibiotics, he took me back home again. The meals they cook in the kitchen are using all fresh market fruit and vegetables. The happy water was amazing. Thanks for the great hospitality.

Fabulous place to stay and lovely staff/family who make sure everything is good during the stay. Fresh fruit and drinks on arrival. Excellent location in Ninh Binh away from tourist central in a real town but close enough to easily reach everything you need to see. Room itself exceeded expectations and for a good value place is remarkably well finished and polished. Bigger than it looks in the photos and very clean. Thoroughly clean everywhere with clean towels and sheets daily. Accessed not far from main road down a quiet, quaint lakeside street. Lighting great, lots of electric sockets, hot water, big shower room. Efficient air con and excellent wifi. We went on a day trip option organised by the owner which was perfect. Wonderful breakfast with plenty of options and a handy supermarket very near.

Mr. Truong is such an exceptional host! In addition to the big, clean, well-appointed room and a tasty, personalized breakfast every morning, he has a fully organized set of tour options available for guests who want to explore Ninh Binh province and the surrounding region. We had not done our homework before arriving but were able to put ourselves in his capable hands to do guided tours of all the local sights, get restaurant recommendations, and borrow the hotel bikes to tootle around on our own. I can't recommend this place highly enough--it was such a great experience! This is a family run hotel, and the whole family helps to look after their guests.

The owner and his wife are very accomodating. "John" is also a tour guide and really went out of his way to take care of us! He speaks english so that was super helpful in every aspect . He drove us around and brought us to excellent places, always has water for you, explains everything well. He also picked us up from Halong Bay! Of course you pay for all of this but his fes are super reasonable. His wife is an excellent cook, I highly recomend eating right there at his place. This is a home converted into a home away, so not a hostel, not a hotel/motel. He also makes his own "happy water" which he likes to share lol! We sat outside on the driveway talking, it's a very authentic experiance!! I'd definatly go back.

The rooms are very outdated.... could really use a few upgrades, epsecially the bathroom. Also, since this is his home, and everything in Vietnam is narrow and tall, there are no elevators. Lugging your stuff/bags up and down is kind of a pain.

I cannot rate our stay here high enough! It was brilliant. Just a 10 minute walk to the train station and the local markets. We were greeted so warmly by Mr Troung with fruits and snacks, wine, tea coffee. It was just so welcoming! Rooms were huge and immaculately clean - just spotless. There were too many courteous touches to mention - like draft stoppers on the doors, toothbrushes and paste, water, a safe, extra blankets and pillows, hairdryer, fridge, TV. There are a number of tours that Mr Truong can organize and he drove us around to beautiful sites where there were ZERO other tourists. Ninh Binh is peaceful and the Trang An boat tours and Lying Dragon mountain (Mua Caves) were a highlight. Breakfast was generous and fresh- the fruit salad was delicious. They even have super cheap mini bar options. Nothing was too much trouble and it really made our trip so wonderful.
