Exceptional, historic luxury and authentic architecture. We stayed two years ago and were so impressed. I had forgotten the half of how spectacular this place is. It has a warm and even temperature throughout despite being a fort/ castle. I am sure King Carlos and Napoleon didn't have this much luxury. For all its grandeur such as embossed sheets and towels,this parador is informal,friendly and peaceful. The breakfast choice is first class and a lovely mix of waited on service and self service. We splashed out for our wedding anniversary near Christmas and the hotel decorations were simple and stunning.

I loved everything. I like that it doesn't have a pool or restaurant, it makes it more authentic and more like a castle than a hotel. The small cafe/ sack area is perfect.

The hotel is actually a castle and all by itself this is amazing. You feel like you are teleported back to medieval time but with the luxury of enjoying modern facilities. Room is tastefully and contemporarily furnished. Breakfast is well assorted and can be enjoyed both indoor or outdoors. There is paid parking onsite (within the limited-traffic area of town). Environment is quiet.

It was a unique experience. If I have to think about anything at all: the view from the room was facing the inner courtyard and the parking is a bit hard to find (turn off the GPS and just follow the road indications for the Parador once you get to town).

We were disappointed by the catering. On arrival we were given a breakfast time of 815. When we arrived at 815 the tables were all being cleared, noisily. We felt in the way and this was the case throughout breakfast. The coffee was poor and d there was No butter, only margerine. This is not acceptable for what is supposed to be a top hotel. The Coffee in the room was also poor quality. It was the worst breakfast we have had in Spain and let down what was otherwise a lovely place.

The building is magnificent, a 10th century castle. The room was spacious. The common areas are excellent, the staff was friendly and the view from the patio over to Hendaye in France is breathtaking. The town of Hondarribia is very beautiful and worth the visit.

Since were were only staying one night, and the hotel was fully booked, I assume we got one of the lesser rooms and there was a bit of a smell in the room that bothered me. It´s something that you may have to take into account in a building dating back to the 10th Century. It did not affect the overall experience, we really liked the hotel.

The Paradore is a stunning old castle/palace that has been converted into a hotel. It retains its character but the hotel and it's rooms have all the modern features you would expect. A terrace provides a comfortable place to have a drink while enjoying the magnificent view over the harbour to France and out to sea. There are plenty of good places around to eat and have a drink

Location amazing. Reception staff really lovely!

Breakfast. Started late despite having to book. Personally didn’t like scrambled eggs as I think cooked with olive oil which for me made them inedible. Also not helped by a couple who secreted themselves in the corner and decimated buffet every time staffs backs were turned, depositing everything in to large bags they’d brought with them!!!

The room was very spacious, in keeping with the great age of the building, very well equipped and with amazing views of the sea and the Pyrenees. Also San Sebastian airport run way was very close, and it was exciting to watch Airbusses coming in to land over the sea. I hasten to add that there were very few planes a day, and that the bedroom was totally sound proof. 20€ a day for secure parking was a bonus.

We would have loved to have patronised a restaurant as we have superb memories of the restaurants in other Paradors. When paying I mentioned that I had had a bottle of water from the fridge and was surprised that I was charged for it, as it is quite often free in many hotels. A charge point for electric cars would be a good idea.

One of the best paradors we have stayed in. The vibe of an old thirteenth century castle with modern amenities was amazing. Be sure to check out the old dining/banquet halls upstairs for another glimpse of the past, especially the upper hall with priceless Ruebens tapestries!! Breakfast in the castle courtyard was a dream.

Parking a bit of a hassle in the old town because narrow streets but the hotel parking worked well.

The view was exceptional. You cannot call the breakfast VERY good. It is a GOOD breakfast. We liked the hotel very much and would stay there again on my next visit.

From most of our interaction with people we noticed that they are not service oriented, especially the people involved in the horeca business. There is some truth about this also between the inhabitants themselves.

What an absolute pleasure it was to stay at this magnificent Parador. Our room had a sea view and was a Junior Suite. It was just perfect. The staff were so accommodating and even helped us with learning a little Basque language and sharing some of the history of the area. Being celiac, the breakfast more than accommodated for me which was a bonus. We loved loved loved our stay!!
