The restaurant was great, and open till late (very convenient) and you even get a 10% discount off your main meals. They also offer lunch boxes for hikes. The location is great, close to the restaurants/bars and main hiking points. However, the hostel is located at the end of town so it's about 25 min walk from the bus station. All staff was friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned daily incl. making up the bed. You can book bus tickets to the hiking points at the reception with cash only and if you need a towel is 7.000ARS deposit cash only as well (they return 4.000ARS at the end).
The showers seem to be temperamental with the boiling water, so make sure you turn the cold one first (on the right) and then slowly add hot water. The kitchen fridge was a bit crammed but it was cleared later on during my stay, so it was okay. If you need to work using Wi-Fi, I would suggest going to the coffee shop called Matilda as it seems to be the only place that has decent Wi-Fi in the whole town. It's not the Hostel's fault, it's a general issue in the whole of El Chalten. The Movistar sim is not working, and even Claro has non-existant reception. The Wi-Fi in general comes and goes in all places if you are at hotels/restaurants/bars so its a bit frustrating thing if you want to download anything.

Great vibes, we can meet a lot of people in the common areas upstairs. Nice restaurant open 24h and also a super nice bar with good pub food and craft beer. Kind staff who helped me move rooms mid reservation to stay with different people. Luggage storage is very helpful too.
Great for starting the hikes but a bit far from the bus station and taxis are incredibly expensive for a 2min ride. Showers upstairs would overflow occasionally and would be nice to have curtains on the bunk beds.

Perfection location. Friendly staff. The food is nice (good value!!) and with discount.
The space of the restroom is so small. The stairs of the bunkbed is not stable (it’s dangerous to climb up and down). The bedside lamp of my bunk is broken. Even got a cold shower….(don’t go to the first shower room of the 2nd floor)

A stones throw from the entrance to the Fitz Roy trek and Glacier Nat. Park. Large common area above and around the restaurant/cafe on the 1st floor by the reception desk. Facilities are pretty clean for the use they get. Around the clock staff at reception are very friendly and can answer most questions. Can also buy bus tickets directly from them. Despite being far up the main drag, still decent eateries and a grocery shop nearby.
A decent walk from the El Chalten bus terminal and the eateries/shops around it. You are on one of the main drags but on the far end of it. A very busy hostel (even when I went at the end of the trekking season) with the common areas being pretty noisy until 11pm.

In mid Sept, off season not a lot of restaurants in the area. Really good that the hostel had a 24 hr restaurant and food is reasonable and good Staff very helpful Enjoyed breakfast from a menu instead of buffet (included in price of room)
Shower didn't drain fast enough. Always standing in a pool of shower water Only 1 sunken stool in a room for 2 No rails to hang clothes in what looked like a cupboard space No rack or shelf to open luggage. Had to be opened on the floor Housekeeping didn't vacuum or sweep floors nor clean the bathroom over 3 day stay. Only emptied out trash bin Can't flush toilet paper down toilet Shower water takes forever to heat up

Located on one of the main roads in El Chalten this is a busy and popular hostel with a 24 hr restaurant. Staff were great, many speaking superb English. We had a twin room with private bathroom. It was clean and comfortable, with a great shower and comfy beds. Breakfast was excellent, with several choices and generous portions as well as good coffee, and can be taken anytime between 1-10am, handy if you are getting up early to do one of the hikes. There is also a kitchen facility if you want to cook your own food with large fridges to store food and four cooking points, along with a lounge area upstairs for residents. We were also able to change some money here at a reasonable rate, although the first two days they didn’t have any to change. However, we found most place in El Chalten took credit cards so cash wasn’t essential.
It was quite noisy on our corridor with people talking on and off through the night, and what sounded like a trolley being wheeled back and forth.

All shared rooms have 2 bunk beds and a locker for each guest. There's a daily housekeeping so the room was clean and it was nice to have a socket and light near the bed. It would be great to have also a curtain. There's one bathroom per floor and it's more than enough. It's cleaned regularly during the day so it's clean. There are two kitchens next to each other, a bit small and with limited equipment. Dinning room is located on the upper floor of a restaurant and there was always some space.
There was no possibility to regulate a heater so it was hot in the room and I had to keep window open all the time (what's a waste of energy).

The facility is well-equipped and well-run. The staff was great and very responsive and they try very hard to clean up behind the patrons who leave a mess in the kitchen space or bathrooms. The only issues that you will experience are the standard issues with communal hostel-living so they were mostly to do with other people.
The lockers were not very secure. My locker was falling apart and I could have easily opened it by pulling the door off it's hinges. Not great but also not a deal-breaker since everyone seemed very respectful of the privacy and belongings of others.

We have booked apartments in Rancho Grande Hostel, but the apartment was changed to the “Destino Sur” hotel located nearby, so my review is related to the “Destino Sur”. Awesome hotel located very close to the entrance to all main tracks including Fitz Roy track. Diverse breakfast starting from 6:30. There is a SPA included in price which was super convenient to relax after long day’s hiking. 2 hours daily bikes are also available to use which in the town for free. You can also store your baggage after check out which was very useful for us.
It’s not related to the hotel. But the restaurant Rancho Grande left me quite disappointed. There was an inconsistency between menu and serving (I have ordered 3 lamb pieces with potato, but got only two pieces, one of them was raw and impossible to cut and to eat). When I asked why it’s only two pieces, the waiter said: “the menu is old”. Next day I decided to give this place another chance, but after waiting for 25 minutes with no serving decided to go and find a better place for lunch. I have also tried lentils stew which was perfect. But overall I don’t recommend to visit.

Big friendly hostel and one of the only places open out of season. 4 bed dorm was clean and comfortable with plenty of bathrooms available. Two kitchens are also available though they get busy at peak time. Communal area available for sitting and eating etc. Meals also available in the big restaurant. It is in an excellent location for the trails as it is just by the start of the main ones. 15min walk to bus station. Dorm beds are one of the best value for money in otherwise expensive location.
Mattress was a little uncomfortable.
