The best thing about the Hotel was the staff. They couldn't have been more obliging, both in the restaurant, and the hotel. The room staff were exceptional.

My stay was for 3 days. There is a need for a toaster and microwave in each room. There is plenty of room for a few plates, cutlery etc. A tea towel was provided but no cleaning product. No spare toilet roll was available if required. No brochure/folder in the room to outline what services were available if any...meals, TV channels...local venues. The main meal from the restaurant was awful. The entree (the duck spring rolls were fine) ...the whiting fillets, chips and salad were disappointing. Living in a place known for its seafood I didn't expect frozen crumbed fillets that were then overcooked (they were plentiful but not really edible), the chips were 'just'...the salad looked okay, although I requested no salad, so that was left sitting on the plate.

Staff at check in perfect, nice, plus explained. Clean big room, but older. Kettle and tea, coffe,milk. Big bed, a little bit softer then I like, personal thing. Towels, toiletries, aircon worked well. TV with remote. A little table with 2 chairs. Perfect stopover. Location in middle of the town, wollies and other shops on your door step. Slipway pub next door with countermeals.

Older style , but for that price,no complaints.

The stay was great. The food in the bistro was good. The staff were friendly. The only negative was we were robbed while sleeping. It was no fault of the hotel as we had not locked our sliding door to the room. Just be careful if you are staying in the area and make sure you lock your car and hotel room door.

The location and price were excellent a short walk and you're right into the centre of Ballina or the river frontage. Although it's joined to the pub noise was no issue as the rooms are in separate building.

Could have had an iron, I was on business so that was a minor problem

The location was superb with walking distance to all the amenities and attractions (for myself) in Ballina, NSW. I didn't get to try the on-site restaurant but having 2 Indian restaurants in the vicinity made me spoilt for choice of food of my favourite cuisine. There is a bottle shop (great prices) across the road (River Street) and Woolworths nearby too. I walked to the Maritime Museum in the afternoon and it was convenient having to just take a short stroll from the room and back to this spectacular showcase of maritime and shipping history of Northern NSW!

The flooring in the room was wooden boards (cold for me) and I feel a carpeted interior would be more suitable, especially in colder months. Also, the positioning of the kitchen sink was poor (low height and too forward), so this was uncomfortable to use.

Comfortable room. Not far to walk for food.

Had to dodge a resident and the empty beer cans sitting and on ground at bottom of stairs in the morning. Late booking so choises limited but wouldn't normally pay that much.

a friend of mine stayed there at least ten years ago and said it was `a bit of a dump'. That is not the case today, it was perfectly fine. My only issue was the bad luck a single room was not available therefore I had to pay for a double.

Location

Good accommodation. We have stayed here before, however on this occasion there was a water issue in the adjacent room. The water also affected our room we did not discover until later. There was no staff around by then as the hotel was closed.

The staff were very friendly and helpful made me feel very welcomed on my arrival and check out could of been made later.i was told I'll be back for a feed and a few beers thanks again for your help and knowledgeable advice

I have stayed at the hotel four or five times now and found the food, position, plus the accommodation very good plus I love Guinness,,,, I will in time be moving to Ballina from the Riverina of NSW ...and will be a nightly vist or two for the meals which I found very good.....

Everything to me was just fine as it is now.
