What a fabulous find in Ballina. This place totally exceeded our expectations, from correspondence on how to access the room, parking outside the door and a discount voucher for drinks and meals at the nearby club. The room was absolutely spotless, all newly renovated. The bathroom was very thoughtfully laid out, including a shelf in the shower (no putting shampoo and toiletries on the floor!:) there was a wooden unit with crockery, cutlery, toaster and kettle as well as a microwave. Hot chocolate and biscuits were an unexpected treat. Spare pillows and an extra blanket were also supplied. For the price we paid,this motel was superior to many far more expensive properties we have stayed at. We will certainly return when we're next in Ballina.

Very minor, but my wife would have liked a handheld attachment in the shower.

Location quiet, parking outside room great, clean facilities,. Loved the brochures and introduction to Cherry St Bowling Club and enjoyed discount on food drinks at an upmarket local club with wonderful service and somewhat reasonable price. Also breakfast at cafe suggested by Ballina Colonial Motel only 100 meters away - quality of food very good, top service and quick.

Very organised reception requiring NO interaction with owners/managers but too impersonable for me although their telephone interactions excellent and information provided by SMS and reception door instructions clear & accurate. Room 6 bathroom vanity cracked and 'touched up' but should be replaced as rest of renovated upgraded room is very well presented. A little noise between rooms but low and tolerable. Enjoyed our stay overall.

We arrived around 7.30pm to find the room we were allocated wasn't suitable (only room for 2, not 3). Reception was unattended but I rang the number and a lovely lady answered and was able to move us to another room (all done remotely). The room was spotless and modern.

We stayed a week earlier in room 7, and the bed was so comfortable. This stay was in room 4, and the mattress was not as good. We slept well, though.

Very clean room, great shower (nice change compared to some motels). Considering a cyclone as due on the night of my stay, no noise in room and I was most relieved to have under cover parking right outside my room. The keyless entry with code on arrival was great. Happy to stay whenever I visit.

Nothing to complain about

Clean renovated room. Good parking. Effortless check in with no need to go to reception for usual interrogation as room has latest electronic keypad and information sent to phone

Very upset that the ad shows a lovely steak and states they have a restaurant and that they why we booked. BUT in the room they promote the local bowling club for meals and give a temporary discount card for use there. They say it’s 450 meters away and can be walked but to we oldies it seems further away and we had to drive. Misleading motel description in our view.

Return trip from Qld after forward trip a week earlier. I gave a great review for forward trip but ....

1. No text received giving room codes for after hours arrival. Had to phone bowling club for assistance. Text received at 6.03pm after arrival. Eventually found an email about 2pm but not many would open laptops & read emails while driving. 2. Despite car parked outside our room, a cleaning lady barged in without knocking about 9am.

The location was perfect, as I was due to catch an early flight the following morning – yet was close enough to cafés to have a coffee before I left town. Contacting the owners (as I arrived out of office hours) was easy by telephone which was well signposted. Parking in front of the unit was convenient, and the interior was spotless. I had a good nights sleep. Would recommend Colonial to others.

The motel was in a good location, and the room was clean and modern-looking with nice furniture. Each room had its own undercover parking out the front of the room which was very handy. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Some of the cutlery in the tray was dirty, the door to the bathroom didn't close properly, the shower door didn't close properly, the pillows were too high and hard and there were no softer lower pillows options.

Recently renovated. The rooms were impeccably clean. The linen, towels and set up perfect. There was wardrobe space and a place for my suitcase. Excellent location. Short walk to the Main Street, drive to great shopping. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Also your room key give members prices for the local bowls club which is a great saving for dinner and happy hour.

Couldn’t fault Ballina.

The motel is off the main road and there is parking right in front of the room. Before we arrived they sent a code for the door by email. This made things really easy in terms of checking in. We only stayed on night, but the main area of town is less than a 5 minute drive.

The air conditioning seemed to blow directly onto the bed. It was too hot to turn it off, but the air flow made it hard to sleep.
