We had a delightful stay at Licuala Lodge…a calm oasis in the rainforest and only a couple of minutes drive from Mission beach. The gardens and pool were fabulous and the cassowary that wandered through the grounds was an added bonus. All the rooms had a relaxing balcony to sit on, the bed was super comfortable and the breakfast was delicious to wake up to every morning…fresh bread, local jams, eggs, yoghurt, fresh tropical fruit and lots more. In particular a big thank you to our hosts who went out of their way to enhance our stay. They were both warm and helpful which added to the beautiful surroundings and made our stay so enjoyable.

We had a great stay at Licuala lodge,our hosts could not of done any more for us,they were friendly and made sure we had a beautiful Christmas stay in the Nth Queensland rainforest.We had 3 cassowary sightings ,one with a chick.Our hosts served a great breakfast.The location is near a local community,beautiful beaches and the Mission Beach resort bistro is a friendly venue serving great meals.

Some people may find the North Qld. summer a little uncomfortable ther is no airconditioning,but you have to remember why you are there,to experience the North Qld. rainforest.

What a gem of a place!! Should have stayed more than one night. The hosts Guillem and John couldn't be nicer nor do more to make their guests feel utterly special. Rooms are charming, they've thought of everything, and the rest of the facilities are lovely (gorgeous gardens and pool, and yes we saw a cassowary... twice!). Breakfast is delicious, local and plentiful. Very highly recommended!

The fruit salad was freshly prepared and delicious! The view from the verandah at breakfast was beautiful, and we enjoyed spending time in the garden and pool. We saw a variety of birdlife, as well as some gorgeous butterflies. We were lucky enough to see Cassowaries on both mornings of our stay! John and Guillem are terrific hosts. We received a warm welcome and provided excellent suggestions for eateries and places to visit.

Beautiful property with amazing garden and resident cassowary named Charlie who you'll likely see in the mornings. Breakfast was outstanding and filling. Hosts are lovely and interesting people who we chatted with over breakfast. Room was spacious and had plenty of shelving for your belongings. Bathroom was big and provided all the toiletries you need. There is a pretty pool but we didn't use it. Property was super clean and well kept, and hosts are onsite if you need anything. Super quiet location just slightly out of town. 3 minute drive to restaurants and beach. We loved it!

Everything was perfect! I would really recommend this lodge to anyone staying in Mission Beach. What I would highlight overall was the owners friendliness, warm welcome and information they provided to us not only about the stay but about wildlife, local recommendations and overall tips for a great tip around Australia. We were able to see for three times in our 1 night stay cassowaries around the garden as well as other fascinating wildlife (birds and pademelons). The homemade breakfast was one of the best we ever had. This was by far one of the most charming stays we have ever stayed in. The best choice for Mission Beach!

What a fabulous place! We loved the room, the balcony, the garden, seeing the wildlife close-up and the area. The breakfast provided, was such a wonderful treat - homemade bread, wonderful fruit salad, amazing coffee, homemade cake etc. I can’t thank Dawn & Blair for their kindness in taking care of my dietary requirements. I also really want to thank Dawn for kindly sharing some of her marmite with me because I mentioned that I was missing it. The care that was taken to look after us made us feel like we were invited guests to someone’s home. We cannot thank Dawn & Blair enough for looking after us! They are amazing people and the lodge is a place that we cannot recommend highly enough!!!

Jullian and John were the best hosts.. they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed!! It so very tranquil and relaxing!! The breakfast was amazing. Even a couple little bonus easter eggs yummo!!

The location is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. We saw five cassowaries during our stay.

We were lucky to be the only guests, so we had the place to ourselves. The rooms are side-by-side so if it had been full I would have felt a little too close to my neighbors.

In amongst the rainforest, the rooms are clean and beds comfy. The highlights are the pool, gardens, and couple who run the place. You have access to a kitchen and washing machine with detergent provided. Breakfast is on the high veranda overlooking the beautiful gardens znd is all homemade, bread, jams etc. The wildlife is extraordinary, a fabulous experience.
