Old style accommodation was cute & the balcony view was superb. Described as a Deluxe Bungalow with a view - the view of the Blow Hole across the lawn was superb & offered a stunning sunrise vista.

Converted older style A frame was adequately refurbished (though lacked some kitchenware, especially for the oven) - except perhaps for the split system heating system situated above the sliding door. Given the height of the unit (A frame) the heat tended to travel up & leave the floor space quite cold.

Located with easy access to Freycinet National Park & Bicheno Blowhole, Bicheno by the Bay is a great base. The complex has a number of room choices, we chose a standard motel style room which suited us, our friends chose a two bedroom self contained cabin which was stand-alone surrounded by bush - lovely. The resort is child friendly so maybe don't choose one of the motel rooms by the lake if you want peace & quiet as children can paddle canoes or swim in summer. We were in a lovely room by the lake but it was cold so the children were gone by 3pm. There is no restaurant onsite so staff made suggestions, supplied us with a map of the town and suggested the Lobster Shack which was casual but fun and tasty. Lovely place to stay.

Not sure why we were allocated the disability access room when we were the youngest of the four couples travelling together, :-) but it was a lovely room and we were happy with it.

The locaiton is great, just besides the sea. Sadly it was shower rain when we arrive so could not have a walk on the beach. But the next morning we see great sun rise on our balcony. Since i arrive after 6pm, i did not meet any staff, but in reception it has clear guidence to get the key, so i have no problem to checkin. Room has well equipted kitchen and bathroom. Room is warm and comfortable.

On the first floor there is an extra room but looks like under construction and in a very messy status. The door to that messy room cannnot be locked. I would highly recommand to get that door locked or even make that room hidden.

Loved this place. Much more than we expected. We had one of the units overlooking the small lake and really enjoyed the covered sundeck and the view. WiFi was great in our room despite a sign indicating only good bt office. Room and bathroom had a feel of a luxury unit with crisp sheets and modern bathroom. Plates, cutlery, kettle etc. Came in handy. Loved that we had on-demand heat in the unit, could walk to Lobster Shack, and Blowhole. Nice oceanside trail between the Blowhole and Lobster Shack. Wallabies on property was nice too.

Everything was great.

The 2 bedroom unit was located up the hill. One bedroom ones can get the sea view. The unit we stayed at has a new kitchen, toaster, microwave, fridge, stove, utensils, dishwashing liquid, and foam - basically fully equipped. Living room has 2 sofas, split system aircon, TV and remote. There is WIFI in the unit. We stayed in winter - the split system could not cope with the cold but there are electric blankets in both rooms. The bathroom has heated lights - water pressure wqs adequate, has hot water as well. Towels, shampoo, bodywash provided. The place was quiet and peaceful. There was a small kids playground within the compound along with a small lake with canoes / kayaks. Check in was a breeze, got to the reception, collected the key and off I went to the unit. The place itself is about 1 minute drive away from Lobster Shack, and around a minute drive to the Blowhole as well. Both places are walking distance as well. Can walk to the rocks leading to the beach in front of the property. Shops, food outlets, fuel are about 2 minutes drive. Waubs Beach is where we saw penguins. Don't forget to bring red light or cover your flashlight / torch with red cellophane as bright lights can blind penguis temporarily leaving them vulnerable to predators.

The aircon heater function was unable to cope with how cold it was but not a deal breaker.

Bicheno by the Bay is a lovely property that is close to lots of places and facilities. It has a beautiful spacious bathroom, room to place a suitcase so that it is out of the way and a large and comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean. My verandah overlooked a large pond but unfortunately I was unable to access the verandah due to being unable to open the screen door. There is a mini fridge and long life milk was provided for coffees. Just outside my door was a little kitchen and laundry area that can be used by guests. The free washing machines were a bonus although I didn’t use them. The microwave was in this area rather than in the room.

On the downside, the room that I was in had a fire door at the entry. This meant that whilst it can be locked from the outside, I was unable to lock myself in whilst in the room. Reception staff offered to change my room and to come and fix the screen door out to the verandah area but as I had unpacked I said it could be left. It would have been a better idea if I was made aware of these issues before I entered the room.

Spacious, good comfortable beds, good position to town.

Scant kitchen/cooking provisions. 4 ofus stayed, for 4 nights ,so we got 4 plates, 4 knives,4forks, etc. With 2 tabs for dishwasher and no liquid soap. No salad bowls, plastic containers, etc. Some salt, pepper, sugar packets. A coffee machine was provided with coffee. For the price of $1800 it was a beautiful unit but a bit of thought into providing some kitchen basics would have made this worth the money.

This was a great place to stay and my husband and I wished we were staying more than just one night! It’s a very short stroll to the Lobster Shack and simply cross the street to walk on the large flat rocks alongside the ocean. The house was very clean and comfortable. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. There was lots of local wildlife to admire as well, including a kookaburra which visited our balcony, and a wallaby which wandered around the grounds.

We loved that our accommodation was an Individual free standing unit with a proper outdoor clothesline to dry our washing. I loved the clothes line! There is a laundry on site. Great location, very quiet and very relaxing. It was fantastic sitting on the large balcony watching the world go by. It reminded me of times gone by, how we used to holiday. The unit has character. There was space, everything is not built on top of each other. It was so peaceful.We cannot wait to return.

I was lucky to be staying in room 1 By The Lake. The location was perfect as it was close to car parking, close to the laundry and a short walk into Bicheno. Very friendly staff who were happy to share advice and information.

Check in procedure works fine but I'm one of those guests who likes to see a human face on arrival. This is a minor thing and it certainly didn't spoil my enjoyment of Bicheno By The Bay.
