Amazing spot right on the beach! Staff were so friendly and helpful!! The accommodation wasn't overly fancy but it suited being on the beach and the area and a lovely view of the beach. We decided not to pay for a penguin tour due to their being fewer penguins around at the time but the resort offered a free walk down to where they come in up from the beach and we were able to follow 2 penguins up the grass in the resort area. This was a highlight for the kids.
The 2 bedrooms were upstairs and the stairs were steep. If travelling with younger kids or elderly people I would contact the resort before booking.

All went well. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Accommodation excellent. loved the view of the bay and sunrise.
The penguin viewing could have been managed better. A japanese group kept getting too close to penguins and blocking them every time they tried to head to their burrows as well as using camera light when asked not to. Young girl on duty didn't step in and kicked myself afterwards that I didn't (politely) explain to the group what they were doing wrong! I was more worried about them disturbing the penguins sense of security than the group's personal space.

The bathroom and kitchen were newly renovated and all you could want for a beach holiday. The cleaning staff were most obliging in providing fresh towels and extra teabags when asked. The bed was a king and was quite comfortable. the shower was spacious with lots of hot water. The beach was beautiful and only a short walk across the lawn then down a pathway. The clean white sand was very appealing, along with the huge boulders encrusted with bright orange lichen. Animal life abounded on all sides. Sheep grazed on an adjacent property. Birdsong filled the air, rabbits cropped the grass. In the evening darkness the fairy penguins came ashore to feed their young. A very appealing setting for nature lovers and children. There was a detailed information sheet about the fairy penguins in our room. Only a short drive into town.
Lack of attention to details in our room. The walls had been touched up with a matching colour of paint, but a glossy finish that strangely stood out. Lack of a bedlamp on both sides of the bed, only one. Coffee sachets were of an inferior brand. The property seemed a little run down. The shared guest laundry needed a good clean out. No one had cleaned out the lint filter in the dryer. The veggie gardens needed replanting. A map of the town would have been a welcome addition in the rooms.

location, beach and room
The penguin experience was hopeless Could not understand the guide could have broken an ankle walking around down there in the dark it was cruel to see another tour going on in the background ...the penguins must feel disorientated giving the torches to the children was not good planning using the words free penguin tour is an untruth I would have rathered been at the paid tour and learnt something and been in a safer environment people were out there for ages bothering the penguins ...children on their own also

Amazing location right on the beach with a fairy penguin rookery. Judge amount of grass for kids to run around on. Nice 2 storey mini apartments , pool, restaurant( although we didn’t try that as we had the Lobster Shack recommended in town)
Stairs inside were very steep. Tv channels didn’t work. Didn’t realise paid penguin tour from town happened at our properties beach access so we were locked off the beach for 2 hours . Our penguin tour was from a platform within our property . Totally understand the need for penguin viewing to be strictly controlled for the penguins safely but probably would have booked a tour had we known( they were booked out the night we were there once we understood )

We booked a 4 person room then I requested a ground floor room as we were travelling with elderly parents. The property manager contacted us and advised there were no ground floor rooms for 4 people so they provided 2 x 2 person rooms, one directly upstairs from the other, at no additional costs. Very generous.
The 'complimentary' penguin tour was very appealing for us and as such we did not join other paying tours anywhere else around Tasmania knowing this tour was included. Unfortunately, on the night of our tour, our little furry friends were not interested in appearing for us! Had we known the tour booked through other providers in town was in a different location/operated by a different company, we would have booked with them to view the penguins earlier in the night as well as attending the complimentary tour. We have no complaints about the complimentary tour as no-one can predict wildlife behaviour, but if promotion included information about different viewing opportunities, that would have been helpful.

We really loved staying here, there was a spectacular view from the living and bedrooms of the mountains and sea. We enjoyed watching the rabbits on the lawns out the front. The best part was being able to walk down to the private beach and wade through the water to diamond island. It was a bit cold but I still enjoyed swimming in the calm cove on the island side. It is a short drive to the shops in Bicheno so easy to pick up some groceries and meals. The pool has an amazing view and there is also a pool table, gym and laundry. The rooms have very good fresh white linens and have everything you need.
The penguin show is very basic and you may not see any. We saw one briefly in the distance.

Our room was lovely with a massive bed which was very comfortable. The rooms open up onto a massive grassed area that has bbq area in the middle. Seeing the little penguins of a night was definitely a highlight, I can't imagine you would ever get sick of seeing them. There was a short walk from our room to a private beach area with beautiful white sand and clear water. I wish I had of brought my children here to stay when they were younger.
I must admit when you drive in it looks quite underwhelming. But when you get in there it is gorgeous.

Was quiet and reasonably priced. You can see there is work going into the property and the staff were very nice.
The free penguin show is misleading. There is a tour group running a penguin show at the beach but the resort penguin show is standing at rear of property in a stage like structure with a staff member. Whilst attempts where made to support guests around not using a flash and letting the penguins make their way up the beach to their nests, I found the lack of care taken a little distressing and ended up going back to my room.

Great location right on the beach with large grounds and stunning views. The on-site restaurant was lovely. The kids loved looking for penguins at night on the grounds. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It had a real family feel to it.
We didn't realise that access to the penguins was closed when they came up from the beach so you get to see them when they arrive at the resort but if you want the full penguin experience you might like to book the tour as well. We loved the adventure of looking for them in the resort.
