Hosts Maria and Wayne were very friendly and accommodating. Maria showed us through the room and the adjoining dining and kitchen area efficiently and warmly. We were encouraged to explore the beautiful gardens. The room was comfortable and well furnished with everything needed to make our stay special. Bed was very comfy. Bathroom was spacious and had everything we needed. Shower lovely and hot. We had our own coffee/tea making facilities and fridge in the room, but we were also welcome to use the main kitchen as well. Breakfasts were yummy and it was nice to chat with fellow travellers. We were given lots of advice on where to go and what to see in the area. The little balcony had a lovely view of the Huon River over the top of the gardens.

Google Maps directed us wrongly, taking us past the entrance to the next road, which led us to someone else's house! There is a good sign alerting you to the coming entrance, but it's still easy to miss if going too fast. The driveway is slightly scary to exit from, especially if turning right to Huonville, but the road is not too busy.

Our host was very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The room had a nice ambience as did the communal breakfast room. Her attention to detail with respect to our comfort was a nice touch. The breakfast was nicely prepared, the muffins baked onsite and the coffee very much to our liking. The room was tastefully decorated, the window coverings of excellent quality and the bed comfortable. A glass of port was provided as a complimentary treat. Private off street parking was available and the gardens surrounding the property were well kept. Traffic noise from the nearby road was minimal and certainly not intrusive.

Can't think of anything that detracted from the overall very positive experience

The accommodation was lovely and the garden was well maintained and full of life 😍 We spent every night playing cards outside. We couldn’t get enough of the view! Maria and Wayne have created a very beautiful experience, with the home cooked, complementary and small personal touches which made all the difference. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Just be mindful if you are coming from Huonville town to approach the entry with caution after the sign as it comes up quickly and is a sharp left. Not a fault by all means just something to be aware of so you don’t miss the turn off into the fabulous accomodation 😊

The breakfast supplied was awesome. There was so much to choose from and no matter what was ordered, it was delicious.As for the property it is outstanding. it is only a few kilometres outside of the town and overlooks the Huon river with an expansive view from the room overlooking the valley. The room itself was very nice with everything provided to make you feel comfortable. Also one of the best aspects of staying here are the hosts who make you feel right at home. We liked everything.

This B&B is like visiting long lost family!, they exude old-fashioned hospitality and charm, Wayne and Maria (+ Annie) go out of their way to make your stay as perfect as possible. The rooms are immaculate and look so inviting, they provide all you could want for a pamper time including dressing gowns, fully catered delicious breakfast and more, they also have a charming communal room to relax in with views all around the area. It is a perfect getaway for a quiet weekend or more. I'd highly recommend Hillside Bed and Breakfast

This turned out to be one of the best places we stayed in our recent Tasmanian trip. Originally booked one night in transit from Bruny Island to places further north, changed it to two nights so we had a day to explore the Huon Valley. Glad we did, booked the River Room, plenty of space, and set up better than described - roomy, clean as a pin, and obviously lots of thought gone into what stayers may want - all the essentials, plus unexpected extra touches, like bath robes and even a small amount of port in a decanter for a tipple before bed. Maria and Wayne were great hosts, breakfast was excellent, with good attention to any guest requirements (eg we have a preference for light milk over full cream, told them it wasn't a big deal, and it was in our room and on our breakfast table). We wondered about being outside Huonville, but it's only 3-4km, takes a few minutes to drive to restaurants, hotels, etc. I doubt there's anywhere in Huonville that would be better to stay than this, we would definitely come back here if in the area again. It's great to find a place where the owners really care about providing a good experience for their guests. Thanks Maria and Wayne, keep up the good work!

This is an outstanding BnB. The hosts are very friendly and willing to share their time and knowledge of the area. The area and the facilities can't be faulted. Plenty of space and a magnificent garden over a large area to explore. We liked the River Room which had a very comfy bed and large bathroom. Cleanliness throughout was exemplary. Breakfast options were extensive and the quality was as good as it gets. Plenty to see and experience in the surrounding area and we had 3 nights. Highly recommended for a short or longer stay.

Access and parking was a little tight, but OK once you got used to it.

Our Terrace Room was exceptionally comfortable with all the facilities we could want and a fantastic view of the Huon River. It was spotlessly clean. The included breakfast was beautifully presented very healthy and with lots of choices. Our hosts Maria and Wayne were very friendly and helpful and greatly add to the experience iif staying at Hillside B&B.

We could not fault anything.

Excellent place to stay if you want to explore the Huon Valley. Our room had river views. Absolutely magnificent gardens which were in full bloom. Breakfast was a good bonus served in a separate dining room well heated. Food was freshly prepared by the host who made great conversation while preparing the food. Plenty of food for those who prefer a large morning serve. Breakfast was complimented by an array of jams and chutney with raw materials coming from their own garden. Very short drive to commercial outlets, restaurants and a couple of pubs. Very highly recommended.

Beautiful view of the Huon River from our terrace room, also overlooking established botanical gardens with lots of secret garden paths, hedging, footbridges, sitting spots, and magical charm. This is a tranquil hideaway where Maria and Wayne spoil guests with kindness, delicious porridge, and helpful tips about this beautiful part of Tasmania.
