The location is perfect. The breakfast was great. This is an old building with very squeaky floors, which adds to its charm, and we didn't hear the floors and stairs at night. The rooms are charming with old rustic furniture. Our room faced the town square with a magnificent view. Our co travellers had a view of the lake. The outdoors serving area is right on the lake, which would've been amazing, if only we hadn't been there in wasp season.

We were in Hallstatt during a heatwave. We knew the place did not have AC, but it would have been great with a fan in the room at least. But that's really the only less positive thing we can say about the place. The wasp season was in full bloom, so sadly we had to quickly escape from the outdoors serving area, where we attempted to enjoy our breakfast. We're not faulting the B&B for that, it's wasp season everywhere.

Location was awesome! Right by the town square and lots of restaurants nearby. The staff was so polite, made us feel welcomed, and happily offered us restaurant recommendations. Our room had a dedicated toilet (outside of the room) and a shower dedicated to just two rooms. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Hallstatt!

They claimed to have a shuttle service since you couldn’t drive in the main town where our hotel was. We tried to use the shuttle service but when they arrived the shuttle bus driver said our hotel never called. We gave up and walked 15 minutes to our car which was no problem since we only had backpacks and got to enjoy the stunning views one last time.

We are a family of 6 with 4 adult children age 17 - 26 years. I booked 2 rooms both facing the lake. We traveled from Zurich via train. It took us around 8 hours, 3 trains and a ferry to reach Hallstatt. We arrived around 6 pm and it was already dark since we were travelling in February. The hotel was only 100 meters from the jetty. I received clear instruction for us to check-in. The keys were left in the lock box which was just next to the door of the side entrance. There were no lift but our room was only one floor up. So carrying our luggage up one floor was quite okay. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised with the decoration of the room. Old cupboard that was a bit musty but still functional. Solid wood chairs, table and bed. It was beautiful, charming and unique. We really appreciate the staff for turning the sofabed into bed and putting all the beddings. It was very thoughtful of them since we already arrived late and the beds were prepared for us. We were quite hungry but we get a good dinner at the halal kebab stall just nearby the jetty. The view from the room was stunning. I watched the sun rise across the mountains and lake from the balcony of our room. It is a breathtaking view. The breakfast provided was wonderful. The staff was very attentive. Even though it was simple but we had a good breakfast with breads, cereals, cheese, fruits, cakes, yogurt. Tea and coffee were served at the table. There was also a self-service coffee and tea at a corner of the hotel reception. Everything that we want to see was only a walking distance from the hotel. Checkout was quite early at 10am. But the hotel staff let us leave our luggage while we went for sight seeing.

The toilet bowl in the room that my sons stayed was installed wrongly. Other than that, I love everything. I wish I stayed longer instead of just one night.

We enjoyed everything especially our cosy room with lake view. Location was exceptionally unbeatable just a few mins walk from the boat pier. Breakfast at the lake was wonderful. Also love the vibes of the atmosphere inside the house even the wooden floor was squeaky. The most impressive thing was that I dropped my card holder (travel card +small money) around the reception area. The lady at the house instantly texted me in the inbox. Thank you so much for your honest (to your colleague) and kind service. Very appreciated.

The hot shower seemed to not working properly (only in my room I guess).

The staff were great at communicating with us and accommodating our arrival. Our rooms had balconies with views of the lake (so beautiful.) The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Hallstatt. We stayed overnight, got up early to eat breakfast and see the sites, and then headed out of town by lunch, which seemed to be the way to go. The village became progressively more crowded with time, and we were happy that we had experienced it in the quiet of the morning.

This isn't a reflection on the property itself, but a heads up for anyone considering this hotel: I didn't realize when we booked our rooms that the shuttles that take you from the parking garage into the village stop running at 7 p.m. Perhaps I missed it in the description information, but I didn't realize how difficult it would be to check into the rooms if we arrived past the advertised check-in time. I should have been paying more attention! It worked out for us, but my advice to anyone driving to Hallstatt is to allow plenty of time for traffic and mountain passes so that you arrive well before the check-in window ends.

This wonderful, quaint guest house is located in the most beautiful Austrian town... in my opinion a must see on any trip to Austria. Gasthof Simony is located in the very center of the town and we had very clear directions as to how to arrive. The staff were all helpful and friendly. This is a typical old style, European guest house. The room was small but worked great for three of us. The daily European breakfast was wonderful and again.. the location cannot be beat. We would stay there again for sure.

If you are looking for a luxury type of hotel, this is not that type of experience. This is a traditional European Bed Breakfast- quaint, clean, and hospitable.

We had unforgettable stay in this hotel. It is located in the most center of the city, the location cannot be better. It has a wonderful garden with a lovely terrace for taking meals. Ancient interior of this house is amazing I felt there like in a museum. Breakfast was good and hotel staff was friendly and very responsive.

It has to be considered that level of comfort is limited with old-style furniture, sound-proofing and sanitary facilities, therefore I would not recommend this place for long-term stay (4+ days).

Cozy inn with clean room, nice lobby and affordable prices in the main square, nice historical building. Great view to the lake from the room. Ferry is 50 m away. The famous view point of the village few minutes walk. They also have a beautiful furry cat inside.

The floors were very noisy, was hard to walk out of room without waking up the entire level. Good free breakfast, but it could be more substantial. The restaurant is cash only and the ATMs nearby charges you with additional fee. You better have cash with you before arriving in Hallstatt.

The room was definitely clean, with a rather ambience of antiquity and a sense of old days in Austria. The room has a sink inside the room, rather useful for washing teeth and face, but toilets and showers are outside and shared with other rooms and other guests. This is not necessarily an inconvenience as there are plenty of them and are rather clean. Breakfast is good, with a good variety of food, though it is recommended to show early to avoid crowds. About the location. Well Hallstatt is an idyllic for those wishing to experience a place of fairy tale location. The hosts, rather say hostesses, as they are mostly women are rather polite and show concern for the experience of their clients. Hallstatt is actually a rather difficult place to get specially by train, as a ferry must be taken afterwards and are specific runs of both of them. Guests should be aware of this situation and ask Gasthof Simony staff for advice in this sense. We received a great treatment in this sense, and we were advised with anticipation about this. In general, all was OK. But like all touristic locations in this world Hallstatt, like Barcelona in Spain, Athens in Greece, Querétaro in Mexico, is one more town that is getting tired of tourists. There are clear warnings to tourists placed in the town: "This is our home, do not shout or be drunk, or whatever..." Clear demonstrations have taken place in Spain recently (July 2024) and Hallstatt, despite living of tourism mainly, can turn rather hostile to tourists under certain circumstances. Things can turn rather ugly if the visitors don't take this into account.
