The location was amazing with the most incredible views of Hallstatt, the Alps and the glacier. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, providing ice packs for our daughter who hurt her foot earlier in our trip. Breakfast was very good. Meeting the friendly roaming sheep was a bonus. The cable car ride up was also beautiful. It can get a bit crowded during busy times, but on the way down the next morning, we almost had the whole car to ourselves.

No concerns at all with the property. Our only issue was that it was a bit challenging getting to the cable car - we walked quite a ways and had trouble getting a taxi, but it was a holiday. We also did not realize that there was a bus to get there from Obertraun. We also booked our return train too early as we did not realize when the cable car started in the morning, how long it would take to get down and then the additional walk/taxi/bus to the train station - bad planning on our part.

I loved the location! Up in the mountains, away from the cities and people! The fact that you had to take the cable car to get up to the peak/hotel was both a pro, and a con. However, overall, it was overwhelmingly pro because there was no crowds or clutter for relaxing and breathtaking events such as sunrise and sunset. If the cable car ran earlier/later, or the peak was more easily accessible, the slots to view these amazingly beautiful things would have been crowded with people. The owners of the lodge were incredibly friendly and helpful. I loved sitting and chatting with them about the mountain, the village, about life, and food.

The upstairs dorm got a bit stuffy and warm in the mornings. Just wake up early and go experience the outdoors! You won’t like if you: miss the sunrise, miss the sunset, don’t go out and explore! So make sure you do all of those things!

The glass window wall provides a fantastic view. The room was very cozy and the place was pet and kids friendly.

You need to pay for extra rides if you want to do the check-in first and then do the cavern visits. Tip: Use the locker at the first stop, do your tour an then go up to the hotel.

hectic checkin as ppl where busy in restaurant, thats ok, challenging for customer as well since basic info was missed - a small one pager on the room can solve this. one person a bit to grumpy, kind of refuse to try speak english (is this a thing in Austria?!) - i get that its end of season but i pay €400 for one night and expect not to get this. i didn’t get the feeling they care for guests coming back - and they might not need to due to location but word travels…

The location is absolutely amazing! On the top of the mountain, just beside the cable car. The view from the rooms, the restaurant and the sun terrace is wonderful. A few minutes’ walk away there is the perfect spot to marvel at the sunset and sunrise. Great starting point for hiking routes and via ferratas. The food is very good by all standards - even the choice for breakfast is good - there are fresh fruit and veggies. The staff is super friendly.

The accommodation is pricey - but considering the breathtaking, out-of-this-world location it is worthwhile!

I would've stayed for longer if it had been more affordable. The shared rooms were practically empty apart from me and one other person (out of 20-30 beds) it felt like I was the only person silly enough to pay the price asked. The shared room is in the loft, don't expect to get any view of the outside here, which contradicts the point of paying a little extra to stay here if you're not coming here during off-peak season like me

- was very isolated and we were surrounded by pure nature - 2 ladies in the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful - upgraded our room automatically given they had free better ones

We needed to pay for the cable car and parking which cost us additional 100Euros - probably negotiating a discount on such would be great.

The views are stunning. After the crowds leave for the day, it is very cozy up on top of the mountain. The staff was very helpful. Make sure you bring everything you need up the mountain with you. You have to pay each time you use the two gondolas up the mountain.

Great location & friendly staff!!! When the day trippers are gone, I went to the nearby viewpoints. The next day, I went to 5 fingers to see the sunrise. Breathtaking! I had the place to myself! In here, mother nature is defo mothering! Make sure to check cable car timings when staying here 😉

The location is just absolutely insane and the staff is extremely helpful.

We weren’t aware of the cable car schedule in advance of our stay which would have been helpful for planning our trip from the US to Krippenstein. Luckily we made the last cable car by 10 mins, but had we not made it, we would have been out of luck. Also, the beds were somewhat uncomfortable for us but that’s a personal preference and is subjective.
