As the proprietor, Tom, mentioned to us - I da mit means “in the middle”; a light hearted, efficient and accurate naming of the hotel which is situated overlooking Hallstatt’s main square. In an unexpected contrast to the traditional design of the facade and gasthaus, our recently remodeled room was a modern, efficient, innovative and welcoming retreat space. Our room featured comfortable beds, and a creative, attractive efficient shower and toilet area. Original traditional window openings and balcony in the sleeping area overlook the square. Breakfast included a traditional Austrian buffet with a hot egg dish of your choice. I da mit was a great place to launch our exploration of Hallstatt

The location couldn't be better. It is a wonderful place to stay if you are hoping to see Hallstatt without the huge number of daytrip visitors. The town is so lovely, but it does have an overcrowding problem. Our favourite part of the stay was being able to walk the streets in the evening when most people had left, and getting up early before the new day's groups arrived by the bus load. If you would like to experience any of the Hallstatt that you see in the pictures, I'd recommend staying here, to give yourself the opportunity to wander around without fighting for photo opportunities. This hotel is right on the square and it's fun people watching from the bedroom windows. Spacious room with lovely wood finishes. It feels like an old-fashioned inn, but in a nice way. Nice breakfast prepared by a friendly lady.

The location is a pro and con, as the square can be quite loud and the windows are not soundproof or double glazed. There was a wedding on and the bar across the square only closed at dawn with lots of noise throughout the night. We still slept well though.

We had an amazing time in this place! the room was perfectly fine , super clean and very cozy. the bed was one of the best we had this trip!- king size bed. the bathroom was very good, there was enough space for everything and the shower was very good also. the breakfast was superb, verity was nice, had everything we need. and in the end we got apple strudel home made that was tasty. the hosts was very nice and help us find place to eat in the evening. there is a free shuttle bus from P2 to the hotel, the park cost 15 e for a whole day, cheaper than other places in the city. the shuttle belong to the hotel and brought us directly the hotel and back to the parking lot. it was a pleaser visiting this place!

Our Favorite Stay Yet – I da Mitt is a Gem! I da Mitt in Hallstatt was hands-down our favorite stay so far. The location is unbeatable, right in the town center with our room overlooking the charming square from a lovely private balcony. The room was beautifully appointed, cozy yet modern, and full of thoughtful touches that made us feel at home. The breakfasts were fantastic—freshly made, delicious, and a perfect way to start each day. The local beer was also excellent and a nice treat after a day of exploring. What really made the experience unforgettable were the people. Thomas, Ferdinand, and Eva were incredible—genuinely warm, helpful, and went above and beyond when we needed them most. When we mistakenly assumed the ferry runs on weekends (it doesn’t!) and would have missed our train connection, Thomas personally drove us to the next station to help us stay on schedule. We truly owe them big time. If you go—and you absolutely should—ask for the “pine”. Let’s just say it’s incredibly helpful after enjoying a few of those great local beers! Highly, highly recommend I da Mitt for a memorable and authentic Hallstatt experience.

Amazing location in the historic square. Beautifully decorated. Great breakfast offering paired with the perfect playlist of music to enjoy while you ate. Very nice owner/host. Really lovely place to stay!

If you’re sensitive to cigarette smoke or noise, avoid room 2 which is directly above the bar and right in front of the busy square. I chose the room for the decor (wooden beams) but in hindsight should have booked the third floor with balcony. I have asthma so am more sensitive to smoke but if that’s not an issue for you, room 2 is lovely.

This is the perfect location in Hallstatt, very near the ferry and right in the main square. Our room ( number 1) was cosy, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The owner was very welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and even the music during breakfast was awesome. We arrived a little earlier than the check in time, and we were allowed into our room, which was very convenient. And we could also leave our luggage there after the checkout. Hallstatt is much more enjoyable if you stay for the night and it's definitely worth staying at Ida Mitt

Everything was very perfect

I Da Mitt is a beautiful place to stay nestled in the heart of a picture perfect town. My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at I Da Mitt, which was made perfect by its ideal location, ultra comfy bed and clean/modern facilities. However, what we found most enjoyable about the experience was the kind and friendly hospitality provided by the lovely staff - particularly Eva who prepared us with an incredible breakfast each day. Simply delicious and made with love! Her warmth and smiles made our trip very memorable. I would highly recommend I Da Mitt to anyone planning a visit to this dream-like village.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful. With it being a small hotel, we didn't have huge expectations, but I was blown away by the room and the staff. The upgrades and renovations make it feel cozy yet luxurious, and the room was very clean and comfortable. As we like quiet, the property was extremely quiet at night with the lovely white noise of the stream behind the hotel. Breakfast was wonderful as well. The owner was very kind and helpful.

Nothing to do with the hotel itself, but it's extremely busy in Hallstatt and parking can be a nightmare. Be prepared to walk to the hotel or wait for a shuttle.

It was unique. It had a nice view of the church steeple and surrounding buildings. There’s a rushing stream flowing just below the room. With a window open it envelopes the room with a peaceful sound. The staff were very kind and helpful. I didn’t expect the quality, value and hospitality for such a touristy area. If we get the chance to come back we will be booking the Ida Mitt. Thank you Ida Mott for a truly wonderful and memorable stay.

There was literally nothing to not like. This place was wonderful.

We had such a lovely stay at I da Mitt. The staff were so accommodating and helpful, would encourage anyone to book here! The hotel is in a very central location. Information provided by the staff how to explore was so helpful. Easy check in and check out. Ada so kindly helped with our washing, and we were offered a ride to the bus stop as we had an early bus to catch. Such a lovely, wholesome experience! Thanks for having us!
