the Location is great, walking distance everywhere you want to go around Ipanema and Copacabana

Standard room means low floors in Rio- the first room was just above the Lobby and almost at the street level. This with the windows not being very sound resistant. It would be great to mention this in the Booking system. I ended up taking a payed upgrade and got a better room at the higher floor

Renovated Beautiful decor - nice Brazilian wood furniture. Good location. Clean. Nice view of Arpoador.

Breakfast could be better: not many “healthy” options. Too many sweets and not various offers of bread. Only whole milk…

Everything, from the cleanliness or the rooms, to the friendly and helpful receptionists to the great location in the safest district in Rio and proximity to the beach, bars and restaurants

Breakfast was average, I even had a peace of plastic in my omelette and when I showed it to the waiter he just took my plate without saying anything or apologizing even.

The Room was very nice and clean, the beds are very comfortable. The facilities are overall well maintained. Breakfast is very well served, they have many choices and daily desserts. Rooftop with a nice view and bar

The receptionists were overall nice however not very proactive and friendly (e.g., welcoming explaining the hotel facilities was completely missing, not any further comment or questions on things you can see or do in Rio) Despite the room being overall nice, the sink in the room was not flushing correctly and the Air conditioning was noisy. Overall a bit overpriced given the amount of options in Rio. The air-conditioning in the reception room is way overused.

The night staff at the reception desk was really just a filler. No service whatsoever. The day manager was terrific. They had problems handling the holiday crowd at the bar, which it seems they should have prepared for. But they didn't provide any credit or anything for over an hour wait for drinks. The upstairs rooftop was terrific with beautiful views, but the rooms are quite plain. We had an amazing Spanish meal at the hotel restaurant. So a little mixed, the managers were great but some of the rest of the service was confused and not very good

I like the breakfast with various selections of food. There was more than enough food if you wanted, a good way to get your day started. Tasted good too. The location was great. It's like two minutes walk from the beach and easy to travel anywhere from this location. It felt safe with 24/7 open reception and security.

The gym is too small and overcrowded during normal hours. It can only fit 4 people max at a time maybe. Ended up going for a run outside instead.

The location and staff couldn't be better. Excellent breakfast with some different dishes every day. The view from the pool deck is wonderful with views from Leblon to Red (devil's) beach and right in front of Arpoador beach. We had a nice view of the park next to us that provides a short cut to Arpoador beach. All of the staff was helpful but in particular Cristiane Alexandre. She knew all the best options on how to get me to the Salgueiro Samba School practice and as a result I had an experience of a lifetime attending the high energy samba of my favorite Samba school! This is probably the safest version of this type of event as you have a shuttle or private car directly to the event and the event is not inside or nearby the slums. Moreover Salgueiro invites other samba schools regularly so you may get to see 2 if you're willing to stay later than 1AM. I also had the need of a plug adapter late on Saturday to do some remote work. Nothing was open to buy one but Cristiane was resourceful and though they didn't have one at the front desk she found someone that delivered me an adapter and I was able to meet my work deadline. Finally when Kiwi.com sent me an email telling me that our flight had been changed forward by 1 day (I received the email ~ 2h before my flight but didn't see it till 1h before the new flight time) she once again helped me locate the proper number to call of the airline (Kiwi never again) and I was able to get my original flight back. If you can stay at Arena Ipanema hotel do it. It's walking distance to many good bar/restaurants and fairly safe given the continued and very visible presence of police in the area (including mounted police in the park).

The included breakfast was terrific with so many options! You can't beat the location - only a block from the beach, and with a view of the beach from their upstairs pool deck. It's right at Arpoador between Ipanema and Copacabana (must walk a few minutes through the city streets to get to Copacabana) All of the guides that picked us up for tours commented on the great location. We were able to walk to many wonderful restaurants easily as well as the beach. The beds were comfortable, although the room was pretty small.

The Arena Hotel is a nice hotel with the advantage that it is located at the point where Ipanema and Copacabana meet so quick and easy to walk to either. It has a small but pleasant pool on the roof with views over a small beach. The room was comfortable with a good shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. I know many of the main hotels in the area but will return to the Arena next time as it has the right balance of comfort, location and price.

The breakfasts are fine but not lavish. It has most items you could want but could have a couple more options for English / American guests

The best value near Ipanema beach, in my opinion. The rooftop is spectacular and spacious, with views out to the ocean, the beach, the mountains, the islands - even Cristo and Pao de acucar can be spotted from the roof. Sunset was gorgeous. Of course, the view is not unobstructed, but that was expected, given the hotel's location. It was less obstructed than I expected, however. The pool is relatively small, but given how spacious the rooftop is, we didn't mind. We also appreciated that much of the roof is shaded, as the Rio sun can be relentless. The staff were very helpful with trying to meet our needs, and I appreciated the presence of security at the front door at all times, given the unique challenges that Rio has. The room had excellent AC and was more spacious than expected. I was in an "01" room - located at the end of the hall. If you can, request one of these rooms, as they seem to be larger than the others. Water pressure in the shower was amazing. The room in general was modern enough and very clean. Housekeeping was excellent and daily.

The breakfast is not the best to put it kindly, and we eventually chose to source more edible food elsewhere. We had expected this, given that other reviews stated this already. The gym should really be called nothing more than a fitness studio. Impossible to have more than two people in there at once, and there is a dearth of meaningful equipment. For example, there are dumbbells but just to 10kg and there is no bench. Also, there is an all in one cable machine that thankfully was working, but it wasn't the easiest to adjust. Fine to move to your body and do a couple of these and a couple of those, but don't expect to get a meaningful workout in.
