I was looking for a place to get acclimated to Rio after my arrival that was safe, near some friendly restaurants and cafes, and close to a metro stop so that I could get into downtown and visit Pequena África. There a few options in Flamengo and Botafogo, and in the end, my familiarity with the Ibis chain in Europe and Africa led me to opt for this hotel. Good choice. As expected, it is modern and rather minimalist, with a clientele that skews a little (but not too) young. The room was comfortable, and the TV, AC, and bathroom stuff all worked fine. The staff was pleasant, and I liked the bar/waiting area off the reception. The best part was the location: a few steps from some great bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and a wonderful bookstore-cafe (Livraria da Travessa) on the way to the nearby Botafogo station (Lines 1 & 2). That whole area around Praça Nelson Mandela is jumping (safely) at all hours with outdoor eating and drinking places, markets, etc. Plus, the scenic beach, with its view of Sugarloaf, is only a couple of blocks away.

You don't get many surprises at an Ibis hotel, and in this case that was just fine: the surrounding neighborhood has enough interesting, quirky corners to satisfy anyone's interests. My one mini-gripe was that there was only one elevator working for guests, and it could take a while before it would show up. Also, because I didn't see the "Por favor, arrumar o quarto" door hanger on the shelf next to the phone and put it on the outside knob when leaving for the day, my room was not serviced.

Breakfast was unfortunately not very nhamy this time. Scrambled eggs were poorly prepared (absolutely raw and uncooked....) and automatic coffee machine was out of order. Only brewed coffee. But fruit salad was ok and the pastry part was very assorted.

Eggs....a pity they didn't prepare it properly. Natural yogurt only came in skimmed version. They sould have the whole milk version for people who appreciate it.

The location is nice and safe. Locating on the main road makes it easy to Uber in and out. The restaurant is clean and with many tables and seats. The breakfast is nice and diverse. The staff are friendly.

The key tag gets disabled easily, which might be due to the interruption of your phone or credit card. That seldom happens to me. Thus, I think it would be nice if they could improve the stability of the key tags.

The location, close to great restaurants and the subway, makes it easy to get around.

The breakfast included doesn’t have water, the coffee is not good. Having to pay for water at the bar is not ideal.

Location is great, staff is very nice and friendly and helpful, room is very clean, lots of breakfast options.

Issues with wifi (we were on the 9th floor). It was good enough since we weren't staying much inside but it went on and off.

I was not picked up at the airport, although I've writing several times on Booking.com "contact the property". Very upsetting! Especially, because 3 of the people from front desk and the travel agency representative were not able to tell me who is responsible, what is the procedure or the phone number to book an airport pick up. The pickup is complimentary for hotel guests, but not the drop off. Even if I was not picked up ( had to pay a taxi myself), I am going to be charged for the return. I'll be following on this issue and demand a refund of the shuttle booking. Will raise an official complaint.

The location of the is very central to most tourist areas and the hotel is well maintained. The early check-in option when available is a plus.

The options at breakfast were the same daily. The room lighting is a little dark.

The property is located in tourist friendly area with many places to walk, eat and buy groceries. The area felt safe and was centrally located for reasonable walks to the beach area at Copacabana. We also found a parking garage within 100m that could accommodate our camper van.

It a well run - easy to use and thus met our expectations 100%

The location is great, you can walk to many places in Botafogo! We cycled along the beaches and explored all of Rio's amazing sights. The staff is very nice and the rooms are very clean.

The check in was very slow as other guests arrived at the same time. We had an issue with our AC unit in the middle of the night but the staff was amazing and relocated us to the room across the hall in no time! Amazing stay!

Staff was VERY good every issue that came up they dealt with right away. location is amazing food spots right around the corner also the metro station is right around the corner as well as the beach. not the best beach around but a nice walk breakfast was alright not the best but ok
