Always a great location downtown but the staff was not user friendly

I did make a mistake and booked for the friday nite ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, which was my mistake and did notice the rate had gone up because of long weekend but thought oh well I aslo had to verbally fight with the night attendant about the pet fee,,,, he wanted to charge me the 40.00 for a large dog,, I did state mine was 25 lbs,, so he said oh well 25.00 is the charge... little did I know that was maximum for his size and no he is none shedding so should have been 20.00 as a result we will NEVER stay there again !!! The night clerk could have said we can drop 10.00 for the error or night booking and dropped the pet fee to less money ... but was not user friendly.. I suggest anyone booking to read the fine print and also note the charges for pets are not nice...

There are three main things I look for when I book a hotel/motel: 1. Does the air conditioning work? Does the room cool off at night so you can sleep? The air conditioning in our room worked great and we had a wonderful sleep 2. Is the room clean and are the beds and pillows comfortable? In this case, the room is clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable, and the pillows were good 3. Is the motel located in a convenient location in this case as well the motel is located perfectly in the centre of town so you can walk to different restaurants and shops I’m not sure why there were reviews that were negative about this property. It was perfect for our group and we stay here every year.

There was really nothing to not like about our stay

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Big area out back for our two dogs to run and do their business. Location in more of a business area of a small town. Access from/to Highway 1 was good. No traffic or train noise.

Location is a bit awkward to find, it's on street a block off the main road. A map is helpful in locating them. They were having water issues while we were there, they were repairing a water main break so access was more restricted than normal, but these things happen. There were some gerrymandered cords by the writing desk that could be replaced with new and more appropriate wiring.

The man at the front desk was super friendly when I checked in. Very easy to check in. It's a great location, within easy walking distance to the main part of downtown Golden. Not sure if the indoor pool and hot tubs were open, but the outdoor pool will be open in a couple of weeks. Great facility. We have been staying at Mary's for about 20 years, ever since our kids were young. Because of the pools. And we stay there now because of the outdoor pool, and the location.

The fridge in my room could definitely use a defrost!!

Staff were friendly. I like how it is a ground level room. Closest to Lake Louise/Banff with very cheap accommodation. IGA was just behind us. Very spacious with 2 extra large beds. Laundromat, MC Donald's were nearby.

Showers don't work properly. They were too hot or too cold. TV did work. You can turn it on, and that's about it. Pillows were flat out and needed replacements.

Big spacious room, Free sauna and hot tub for all guests. Rooms have a refrigerator and micro wave which was quite helpful. Staff in the motel were very helpful and responsive. There is also a supermarket (IGA) and a laundromat next door. Loads of parking on site.

There was a period of time when there was no hot water in the bathrooms. We raised the issue with the staff and they were able to sort out the problem in an hour. I do appreciate the responsiveness of the staff.

Everything was good. My room was clean. The location of the room was great. The outdoor pool was working and the water was clean. My family felt comfortable in the Marýs Motel. There was a kettle and coffee machine in the room.

There were 3 people staying in the room, but there was only one coffee stick. But for me, this was not a significant minus.

I've stayed at Mary's many times. It is nothing fancy and nothing new. But it is reliable and clean and travelers with pets stay in a special building of their own. The price is right and they always seem to have a room available.

Many people might expect more, but personally, I find that Mary's always has what I need in a room.

A pretty normal motel with a queen sized bed, a fridge, microwave and bath room. The location is beautiful. The room was silent and all in all I enjoyed my stay. They have plenty of parking lots. The AC is working well. The prices are relatively low compared to competitors. The staff was friendly.

I wish they had a trash can other than the tiny one in the bath room. The wifi constantly dies and comes back a few seconds later. That is quite inconvenient. Also if a customer spills water on a pillow or blanket and after washing it the stain still remains visible you might want to replace it. Yes it costs money and yes it's bad for the environment but otherwise it will make the impression of it not being really clean.

It was a drive-up room, which was helpful because of my luggage. There is a grocery store around the corner, so combined with a fridge with a freezer in the room and a microwave, I could eat in-room and rest and get a good sleep. The internet was excellent. The pool looked very nice, but I didn't have a chance to use it. It would be a place I would stay in the future if I needed.

The room wasn't cleaned very well. There were still used coffee pods in the coffee maker and opened shampoo envelopes in the shower. Also, the baseboards and other surfaces could use good cleaning/dusting. This motel could be a fun, kitschy place if some elbow grease and creativity were applied. Unfortunately, it just gives off the feeling of a tired location in desperate need of attention.
