The Waldorf while being an older building and showing it's age, also carries with a lot of character. It's easy enough to get to via public transit from downtown. It's clean, and stocked with all the expected amenities. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Really for the price point and location there wasn't anything to complain about. The Waldorf is nothing fancy, but perfectly exceptional for it's weight class.

Truthfully the only comment I can give against the Waldorf is the neighborhood it's located in, East Vancouver is a little rough and I'm sure can be uncomfortable for some people. That being said, that's not really the fault of the Waldorf, just one of the realities of Vancouver.

Clean and in convenient location

Although we knew about the night club downstairs, it was very loud on the Friday night. Wouldn’t put us off staying again though.

Before I checked in, I saw a lot of reviews of not clean environment. However, I think the room and it’s bathroom are very clean. In addition, the staffs are very friendly.

The location is a little distant from the downtown. (But there are a lot of buses, and the compass card enable passengers to pay only 2.6 CA$ to take unlimited bus in 90 mins) When I booked the hotel, there was no many choices, and I didn’t notice that there was no hair dryer for my room. This was a little inconvenient.

This was by far the best value hotel that I came across in Vancouver when I was considering where I was going to stay. The staff was incredibly friendly, the room was cozy, and the access to Downtown Vancouver and other areas in B.C. was incredible.

As stated by other reviewers, urban blight is pervasive in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. For that reason, I didn't canvas the city much late into the evening. That said, I never truly felt in danger or unsafe as I walked around, took the bus/train, or during my stay at the hotel. The front door to the hotel is locked 24/7 which gave me piece of mind from a security perspective - especially since there is a bus stop right in front of the door.

Nice clean hotel. The room was very small but had great storage space, a large closet, a safe box, several mirrors, a fridge, chest of drawers, a coffee machine, and a desk. So there was a very clever use of space. Staff were very helpful and the wifi worked great! Lastly, there is no breakfast provided but you have a discount at a bar attached to the hotel, and there are supermarkets around. Highly recommended!

No microwave, the shower is very tiny and the mattress wasn’t the most comfortable I slept on. Yet, I think this was a great value room and I would definitely be back!

The room was comfortable, it was clean, the shampoo was veeery good, seriously, the best I've ever tried in hotels! hahaha Besides the "bad" points, I would stay there again for sure. We arrived around 8pm and the hotel receptionist was very kind!

Very noisy (okay, they say at the description that there is a nightclub nearby), but there was a window pretty close to our room, we could hear the people having party out loud and it was after midnight. Plus, there is no breakfast included, and I thought a little bit expensive to buy it at the restaurant. :/

This was a last minute booking and it worked out really well for me.I would call this hotel a little fringe because the location isn’t everyone’s cup of tea..for me it is perfect,minutes walking distance from Commercial Dr. a bus runs regularly past it to go downtown.You can walk but you do enter into sketchy territory just be aware is all.The hotel restaurant has a fabulous chef..and very good beer on tap!…lots of cool people working there.The hotel itself might seem a bit worn but we are talking vintage 1940’s here …very clean and safe and all adorned with a landmark vintage sign! And if you are lucky yiu will be there when the the fabulous Tiki Bar is open. Might be my new home away from home when I go to the big city!

For me it was a perfect stay…wish the Tiki bar had been open but that’s just timing.

Staff were very helpful, and let us leave our luggage at 9 in the morning, even though we could not check in until early afternoon. The hotel has several bad reviews due to the drug addicts in the street and also noise. We found the hotel quite quiet although we were on a Sunday night so maybe that is quieter. There are a few drug addicts in the nearby streets, but Vancouver has a bad drug problem and there are many many more drug addicts closer to the city centre. The few addicts near the hotel did not cause any problems although it would be better if they were not there. The hotel keeps its doors locked so I don't think it is a security issue. I would say don't let it put you off the hotel.

It is not a picturesque part of Vancouver, but it does have a very good bus service into the city centre.

The staff are all helpful and courteous, the room was inexpensive for Vancouver, perfectly clean and the location, although on E Hastings, felt safe and was a great point for Ubering to various Vancouver attractions. It was also quiet during the week as events only occur on weekends.

The bed is so light that it slides away from the wall and the 2 thin pillows provided made lounging difficult and not very comfortable for a couple. I wish the restaurants and bar had been open—that would have been super convenient as we were staying there before boarding our Alaskan cruise.

Can’t beat the location and charm of the space. Considering how many places are disappearing in Vancouver this is a godsend, best price you can get anywhere and the location is fantastic for if you have an event in the area. Even though the area may seem a bit questionable, I assure you it’s safe there at night if a bit noisy especially if you’re with a group. Awesome events and also liquor store in the building. Staff is always always amazing.

Just the noise, and even with the cooling device in smaller room it can get really hot. In some of the bigger rooms they have stronger AC which cools down the space super quickly, though.
