Easy to find & walking distance to downtown, which was nice. The breakfast was good - I enjoyed how the seating was laid out, classy - not cafeteria style. The staff were helpful with good recommendations for dinner. Comfy bed and great pillows!

It's an old, (refurbished) historic hotel, so its location has limited the parking available. They do compensate by providing a parking voucher for public parking up the street, but it's a walk. They advertise Fionn MacCool's restaurant, attached to the hotel, but it closes in the 'off-season' so had to eat elsewhere.

The room was very clean and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Centrally located. Very good option when visiting Orillia.

I didn't like that the parking lot is so small. I parked in a marked parking space but someone decided to park illegally and blocked me in. When I cam back to park a second time, the lot was completely full. We were offer an alternative but it is a couple of blocks away and it was very cold to walk on the night I stayed over so it was a bit of an inconvenience. Glad we were given the alternative though.

Super friendly welcome at reception. I received an upgrade when I mentioned I had come all the way from Belgium to visit Gordon Lightfoot's hometown. Perfect location to walk to the Lightfoot statue near Lake Couchiching and the town center. I even walked to the cemetery. The wonderful restaurant "The Common Stove" on Mississaga street is a few minutes' walk and not to be missed!! There is no cleaning service if you only stay for a few days but I found that quite nice because no one's bothering you. Good coffee machine in the room. I felt very comfortable and "free" since no one bothered me about anything :-).

Breakfast is not worth that name. I just had a glass of juice and a cookie in the morning. I guess some people might feel unsafe since you can just walk in and out of the hotel unnoticed (there was often no one at the reception desk) but it did not really bother me. The standard rooms (some?) are a bit worn but I was very happy with mine (upgraded, with view towards the center).

It was our first time staying at the Champlain and would highly recommend. The staff are great and very helpful. The beds and pillows are wonderfully comfortable. Great location near shops and restaurants.

No complaints at all, just a suggestion. Room 109 could do with a small wardrobe to hang clothes. There is some room beside the bed closest to the bathroom. Thank you

The room was quite adequate and the use of space very functional. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was well organized and a good selection and variety of various cereals, yogurt, bagels, pastries, etc. The front desk staff were excellent, professional and friendly. Would like to give a special shout out to Front Desk Agent, Darcelle! She arrange for an early check in for us as we were attending a wedding in the area.

Room was spacious and clean. Beds were comfy. Great location for access to beach, downtown restaurants and attractions

Parking and drop off. The property has very little parking on site and shares it with the restaurant. Alternate parking is a municipal lot about a block away. I would like to see cup dispensers rather than every cup wrapped plastic. Also there was no sorting for waste, recyclable, compost etc.

From the moment we walked into this hotel, we were impressed. Friendly welcome from the receptionist, and we found our room to be well-presented. Very comfortable beds, and the bathroom was spotless. Large TV straight opposite the main bed. We ate at the neighbouring pub, and would recommend this to anyone, because the food and drink there is excellent (huge portions) and a discount is offered to hotel guests. Breakfast is good -- but any place that has a make-your-own waffle-maker gets my vote! Great location for the waterfront area, too.

The car park is a little bit tight, but I think this will improve as the significant waterfront development in Orillia progresses. This is a very minor gripe, though.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely location and clean hotel/room. Appreciate the accommodation for their parking problem with the overflow lot close to the hotel. Very well done breakfast! Gym and modern room. Would stay again!

Our room felt small, but this could have been corrected with one bed, rather than two in the room. Lights needed to be brighter in the room (we were in a basement room).

The room size and layout was good.

The heating system is terrible, hard to get the right temperature, you set thermostat at 20 but temperature would go up to 24 or sometimes when it reaches temperature then it would blow cold air instead of system shutting off. The heating system is very noisy when trying to sleep. It took forever to get hot water..

Lovely modern bathroom with large shower. Comfy bed and pillows. Nice breakfast selection. Great location, 5 minutes walk to lovely waterfront walk , 10 minutes to a small sandy beach. 5 minutes from the main high street packed with a nice selection of quality shops and restaurants.

Don't book the basement room! I did accidentally, and luckily they moved us to another room on the second floor.
