The staff and hotel are wonderful however…. The walls are very thin. I could hear our neighbours entire conversations which was particularly unpleasant at 5am. I couldn’t even drown them out with the tv. Also if you so much as move the snacks or anything in the mini bar in any way they will charge you. We simply opened a drawer then shut it when we saw what was there and they tried to charge us. Luckily we caught it on check out. But seriously, that’s a bit much. If I eat it or drink it charge me. If it gets slightly moved a few millimetres because I opened a drawer and you want to charge me? that’s ridiculous! I enjoyed my experience but there are cheaper hotels in the area that are very nice, better sound proofing and who don’t pull shenanigans with the minibar. 😊

Location was great. Byward market is literally beside the hotel. Lots of food options and very nice to walk around. Nice view of the canal. Hotel was AMAZING. Huge hotel and very clean and grand. Really feel like its worth your money. We managed to get connecting rooms as per our request which was amazing. Service was very friendly and a great experience overall. Would 100% stay here again.

Only thing was Rideau Street tends to have a number of homeless/weird people especially at night, but guess this is very normal for Ottawa. Generally still safe.

We appreciated the central location. As tourists, we were able to walk easily to a lot of sites. We loved that we were upgraded so that we were able to take advantage of breakfast and snacks. With a busy schedule, we really appreciated this. And we would definitely return if we knew we would be upgraded again. And the food was descent.

Unfortunately it is an old hotel. As a result, we had a problem opening the door. We had maintenance look at the problem and they basically said it was an old hotel and there was nothing they could do. As a result, we either had to push the door with our shoulder or kick the door to get I. It was a little embarrassing since this happened every time.

We had a lovely family stay at the Fairmont Château Laurier. The location is absolutely perfect — right in the heart of Ottawa, close to everything. The hotel has a vintage charm but is very clean and well maintained. We especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet — delicious with lots of great options for everyone. A memorable experience overall!

I wasn’t impressed with how the valet service was managed, the wait times were too long and they didn’t seem to be serving clients efficiently. On top of that, the staff forgot to attach my key to the ticket number, which made it hard for them to find it. I ended up waiting over an hour and a half.

Unbeatable location. Unique experience exploring the building, seeing the period details and historic photos and memorabilia around the hotel. Spacious room with good view. High tea was a delight ($$$ as expected) even though Zoe's is under renovation.

Hallway (second floor) and lifts had a musty odour. Bathroom did not have a ventilation fan which is understandable for a historic building, but might be expected in a more luxuriously priced hotel. Curtains in the room had unsightly oily-looking stains. Bed sheet had a small rust-coloured stain. We didn't receive any acknowledgement of our special occasion even though we noted it on our reservation. Valet parking looked hectic with the driveway completely backed up at busy times. Since we didn't have much luggage, we're glad we opted for a nearby garage in ByWard Market for a fraction of the price.

Location excellent. I've been staying at chateau since 1970s. Love the ambiance

My room was really dusty. Not well cleaned. I was moved to new toom next day. Service manager was excellent in resolving problem. I had reservation at Zoes which is a beautiful location but was seated outside in dark reading room. Really disappointing for my guests. Restaurants should have gluten free and vegetarian choices. I remarked on this when I stayed there last year But menu was worse this time. One of my guests was limited to olives and nut for lunch.

The room with a view looked over the Parliament buildings and bridge to Quebec. Corner King Deluxe room very spacious with a great bed, living room area, large closet and lots of big windows. Staff was accommodating to extend the late checkout. Door Man was wonderful and so was the valet staff. The lobby bar staff were great too. The building itself is iconic and absolutely stunning. I wish we could see more, stay longer than one night, and explore the gorgeous Chateau Laurier Hotel.

The bathroom was outdated with a glass shelf that was sloped down towards the front - a fear and worry that things would slide off, or it may fall off. The bathroom definitely could use a refresh. The body soap dispenser in the shower was empty. I reported it to the front desk on check out and she was very apologetic and was gong to report to the manager. The rooms windows very very bright through the night so take care to draw the blackout blinds before bed...we did not realize until the next day that there were blinds behind the curtains. Parking is non existent so use valet parking but be prepared...$64!!!!!!!! but worth it.

Beautiful as any other Fairmont hotels we’ve been to. We love the old world glamour while being also modern and immaculate. Location was the best—very accessible to everything. Morning/afternoon front desk were so lovely and helpful. Special thanks to Alexander for being extremely accommodating any time we asked about anything—his demeanour and customer service was paramount. The kids really enjoyed the beautiful art deco pool! Will definitely stay here again next time we’re in Ottawa.

There were certain times that only one out of the five elevators were working so it took some time waiting for it (if it was too full of going the wrong direction). Also a stark contrast to our experience with the rest of the staff, the front desk lady in ponytail at 3am (Feb 1, Saturday) appeared and sounded very uninterested to help (maybe cos of the hour but she was bordering unpleasant) but when we asked for a cab requested to take us to the airport from the hotel, she told us she already booked it and 15 minutes after our requested time, no cab came at all so we just ordered Uber.

Beautiful historic property with tons of things to look at, right next to the parliament building

Parking was a mess, we were expecting to pay $60 a day for valet but when we arrived the line of cars was down the street and around the corner. By the time we made our way to the front (30 mins later) were told the parking was full and were told To go park at the mall. By the time we found mall parking and walked back to the hotel, it had been over an hour since we first arrived and we only had 30 minutes to get ready for our event. Mall parking was cheaper and on the future I wouldn’t mind parking there it was just stressful trying to figure out in the moment.

Room was excellent, everything worked well. Elegant and functional. Even windows opened a little for a few minutes of fresh air (expected sealed windows). Our room had an elegant turret area, set up with a desk and chair. Reading lamps over bed actually worked.

No night table on one side of the bed. PARKING! This was cited frequently as an issue, and I would agree. Line ups at valet loading / unloading area and wait times to receive vehicle are definitely an issue: We were there during a slower period (late February), I can imagine it's a real big issue during peak times.
