1) The location. Right in the thick of a very cozy and vibrant neighbourhood with minimal cars and endless shops and trees. 2) Decent communal areas. 3) Cool cafes all around (Wiggly Jiggly is best - 2 lanes away). 4) Pillows are excellent.

1) The bathroom of the private room (206) really stinks of mould. 2) The lack of English in ALL staff is shocking for an official HI hostel (they fully depend on their phones for translation, can't answer anything before in writing or on the phone). 3) The old dude who cares for the place at late night is an outdated a*s hole, 4) The Americans who stay there are politically insensitive to the country, loud, ignorant yet think they're informed (worst type of ignorance) and worse than the miserable bitter old man as company. 5) The price of the private room is 100 USD - incomprehensible.

Nice location close to many touristic places (the street has many cafes, restsurants and souvenir shops) and metro station. The rooms were comfortable, enough space for everyone. Each person gets a locker (with key), curtain on bed and personal light. Even though the people at the reception don't speak English very well, they use translators to understand you and are always ready to help.

Looking back, I think that this hostel was a bit overpriced but the reason for this might really be the top location.

The hostel is located just off of one of the major tourist shopping lanes in a typical Beijing Hutong. The subway is just a short walk (~5 min) away and there are lots of options for food and drink around. Still, the hostel was quiet and cozy, with a very comfortable common area. The beds were super comfortable, had an international charging point and curtains. The staff were also very helpful and super friendly!

The window-less bathroom of our dorm had a slight mold problem. Considering that the building is a bit older, I think it is fine. The bathroom would benefit from a renovation in the near future but since everything was still pretty clean it wasn’t a big deal.

The location coulden't be better, it is in the center of the fashinating Hutong, it is in a small alley but steps from the main road with tons of shop and place to eat it is very close to subway n.6 and 8 so easy to reach any location very fast. Because it is an old Hutong house it is very fashinating even if the bathroom and the rooms are old fashion but it is totally fine anyway i absolutely will choose again this hostel next time and I suggest to traveler to chose this place. Nice area to relax too with lots of sofà.

Actually for people like me that waike up early i would apprieciate to have a coffe machine or nescafe complimentary because in the area the shop open very late. The comunicazione was kind of difficult no one was speaking not even few word and only by translator.So difficult to try to book tickets to museum or other attractions.

The hostel is super conveniently located close to metro, restaurant, cute vintage stores on Gulou Street, within walking distance from the Drum and Bell tower and the Lamma Temple. Great nightlife options! The hostel's interior is very cozy, it looks like a small cottage! Waking up in the morning in the hutong and seeing the old roofs stretching out in front of you gives you a real feel of authentic Beijing life. The restaurant serves tasty food in a comfortable setting, it's very easy to meet people (fellow travelers or just regular visitors). The hostel is across from the China Academy of Theater and there is a beautiful theater + cafe just down the alley. Staff is friendly and accomodating, use google translator if you run into communication problems. I highly recommend this hostel to solo travelers (I stayed in the 2 bed female dorm) and anyone looking for a calm, cozy place in the center of Beijing.

No complaints.

The location is very good, in the middle of a very lively hutong and less than 5 minutes walking to the metro. You can also easily meet other travelers in the common areas of the hostel.

I stayed in the 6-bed shared room, and the price was very high for the facilities (no curtains/separation between beds, so other guests may easily wake you up during the night). It was 4 times more expensive than the hostels I stayed in Xi'an and Hangzhou, where the facilities were undoubtedly better.

The hostel is in a very nice location. It is off to the side of one of the hu tongs in the city so you can step out and visit different shops and try different street foods. There was a nice area on the first floor to hang out if you wanted. I also thought I had booked a room with multiple other guests but when I arrived it was just a 2 person room which was a nice surprise! There was also always a staff member available if you needed something.

The bathroom was a bit small. If someone else was using it at the same time, the space was a little cramped. However, I mostly used the bathroom early in the morning or quite late at night and usually didn't run into someone else.

Reading the latest reviews of the place I was concerned. But my experience was great so far. Bed dorm was good, clean, single beds. Showers not the cleanest but ok. Staff were really polite and helpful when I needed and used translators for communication so I appreciate that. They let me leave my luggage at check out and come back later. I could even rest and have my dinner at the common area when I returned.

There is a cafe downstairs (not sure if they are the same business) I found it way overpriced for a soda and a panini costing more than 100 Yuan compared to other places in the area.

The best location for solo travelers! I'd definitely stay here again when I visit Beijing. Reception couldn't speak English, but they were very friendly. We were able to communicate through translating apps.
