The J Hotel Shanghai Tower delivers a truly elevated experience, both literally and figuratively. My upgraded Stateroom was a showcase of refined modern luxury, with a glossy dark floor, cream and gold accents, a superbly comfortable bed, and an elegant bathroom featuring a marble-bench rain shower and sculptural bathtub. Every detail was thoughtfully considered – from the Nespresso machine and premium minibar to whisper-quiet climate control and fully electronic curtains and lighting. The views over the Huangpu River and Shanghai’s skyline, especially by day, were simply breathtaking. Breakfast was outstanding, combining a refined buffet with à la carte options, fresh berries, multiple nut varieties, unsweetened yoghurt, and exceptional service. Staff throughout the stay were attentive without intrusion, anticipating needs before they were voiced. The bar offered spectacular river views, superb cocktails, and a refined atmosphere once the live music began. A takeaway breakfast box prepared for my early departure was beautifully presented and freshly made – a wonderful gesture.

On the ground floor outside the building, there was no one present to welcome me or assist with luggage – an unexpected gap in service for a hotel of this level. In the rooms, the building’s double façade creates a gap between the windows and the outer glass wall, making the view slightly less immediate than marketing images suggest; at night, the tinted outer glass significantly darkens the outlook. At the bar, there were no vegetarian snacks available on the menu apart from the complimentary nuts and grissini, which felt like a serious oversight for a hotel of this standard. Background music before the live performance in the bar was oddly mismatched, creating a sleepy atmosphere. The spa was closed for maintenance during my stay.

I simply had an exceptional stay. This hotel deserves more than 5* rates. Attentive, extremely helpful staff, ready to go extra mile to help you. My Thanks also to my personal butler Alex , who always went an extra mile . The Building of J Hotel , The Shanghai Tower speaks for themselves. It’s a piece of art. The Hotel have absolutely everything. Comfort, Clean, Hospitality, Art, Location, Breakfast and Afternoon Tea. The room are so spacious and very modern. I especially want to thank you for the surprise that was waiting for me in my room. A cake with a dedication for my birthday. It made my day even more special.

I stayed in the J hotel for three nights. It was an amazing experience. It exceeds my expectations for a hotel in all aspects. I strongly believe that whoever travels to Shanghai, as long as financially capable, staying in this hotel is a must. Otherwise, the trip to Shanghai would not be considered complete, and you will regret it.

The breakfast was excellent. The variety and quality of the food were all exceptional. Only suggestion is I hope there will be oatmeal, although you can order on the spot.

Staying at this hotel was quite the experience and one someone will never forget. The views were astonishing and it is still very bizarre, thinking about it when waking up with nothing, but the skyline outside the huge windows or the tops of other skyscrapers below you! The attention to detail in The Hotel was great even down to the turndown Service at night. The staff were accommodating and friendly, with most speaking, some level of English.

The communication prior to my arrival was disconcerting and there were huge delays before I got any response from the Hotels team. I almost cancelled my reservation due to the lack of communication, but I am glad that I didn't.

J hotel has great location which can overlook whole Shanghai. The hotel offers free afternoon tea that has variety choices. Every room has picture windows from which can see the whole Shanghai. Bed and pillows are soft and comfortable. Breakfast is extraordinary, having both buffet and À la carte choices. The foods have Michelin 3 star quality, tasty and exquisite. I will choose J hotel whenever I go to Shanghai again.

All doors of bathroom are transparent, including toilet and shower room, lack of privacy. There is no difference between having a door and without a door.

They followed my request for a specific view - and even though this took some time (including a late check-in) they did well in a professional manner.

The entrance was confusing - no one came up to us to show us the direction of the lobby in spite of many staff waiting around. Normally you would be immediately supporter the moment you walked in. Small thing - but it was a first impression.

The hotel is very beautiful and modern design, It is highest building in China and 3d in the world. I stayed 95 floor, The view is wonderful. The service is perfect and receptionists are very friendly and helpful. The room is deluxe and big. The bed is so comfort. The restaurant of breakfast is there lots of choice and delicious. Under the hotel guide Mr Liu Tzo, I understand lots of story about the hotel details and he is nice person. The location is good and just near metro station, from there you can easy take metro line 2 to Shanghai 2 international airport.

Absolutely stunning Hotel. Extra friendly and helpful staff. Saw many 5 Stars Hotels like the four season, mbs Singapore or the Edition in Manhattan but nothing can reach this Hotel. Got many extra like a huge complementary mini bar, fresh fruits every day, a huge breakfast with an order option. Additionally some extra gifts which I never expected. I went also to two restaurants which had an incredible design.

Everything was perfect.

Comfort, Hospitality, Clean, Artistry, location,Breakfast and Afternoon Tea~~~almost everything. Please don't miss the Hotel tour, It's really worth to spend some time to explore. While our Senior Personal Butler Alex Liu did an awesome job. He helped us to arrange the special setting and celebration for my Daddy's 86th Birthday. Such a wonderful experience! We really appreciate the hospitality from J.

Attentive, extremely helpful staff. Yi lounge staff shout-out (thankyou Robbie!) are very friendly and full of great Shanghai recommendations. Pretentious to a fault, beautiful city views, pure luxury and soundproof rooms. Better sleep than your own home. Highly recommend. Do I have to checkout?
