We had a truly exceptional stay at this hotel - from the location (11/10 excellent: mall right across the street, Nanjing Street literally a 2 min walk away, metro stations, restaurants, convenience stores, etc), to the welcoming and very helpful staff that made our stay even more comfortable (special mention to Mr. Ray, Mr. Leo, and Ms. Violet for the excellent help) and to the hotel itself which is a historical beautiful building with very comfortable rooms (the bed and pillows were a dream) that had all the amenities you'd want - would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat!

The quality of the toiletries was a standout, especially the shampoo and conditioner, which left my hair feeling soft and bouncy. The body lotion was another favorite: it smelled lovely and kept my skin well moisturized. The room itself was spacious and thoughtfully designed. The bathroom was a highlight, featuring a deep soaking tub, a separate rain shower, and a toilet with bidet functions—truly luxurious. I also appreciated the evening turndown service, with the little box of candy being a charming touch. The service throughout the hotel was excellent. Every staff member, from the front desk to housekeeping, was friendly and professional. I was especially grateful that they allowed me to store my luggage after check-out for a couple of days, as I had a side trip planned to Huangshan. The location couldn't be more convenient—less than a block from the People’s Square train station, and within easy walking distance to Raffles City shopping center, Nanjing pedestrian streets, great restaurants, and even the Bund.

My room faced the inner court, so it was a bit dark with limited natural light. However, since I was out exploring most of the day, it didn’t bother me much. Also, the internet connection was spotty at times, but I experienced similar issues in other upscale hotels in Shanghai—likely due to VPN-related limitations.

1. Excellent desk, housekeeping and restauration staff. Everyone was perfect: efficient, helpful and very polite 2. Cleanliness: excellent. Very good housekeeping. 3. Comfort: very good. Very good bed, shower, room space, coffe machine, kettle, etc 4. Location for touristic purposes: very good. Really close to pedestrian Nanjing Road shopping street, nice 30 minutes stroll to the Bund, close to People's Square, metro exit n. 14 almost at the frontdoor. 5. Breakfast: excellent. Good choice and quality for european guests and remarkable Regina's skills, resulting in clockwise overall management.

The rooms are spacious. Staff were polite and respectful. Location was perfect for exploring Shanghai. The minibar provided was free of charge and replenished daily (beer, tea, lots of water). The beds were huge and super comfortable.

You can see it was a nice hotel, but is in need of some maintenance and a thorough clean. The dirty windows, mold in the bathroom and stained walls left something to be desired. A Nespresso coffee machine is provided in the room, but we got only 2 capsules per day, and even those did not come every day. AC did not really work; it functioned as a fan, but did not actually lower the temperature of the room, which was around a constant 26 degrees no matter what we did.

The location is very good. Opposite there is a 711 and Lawson. Many eateries nearby also. Near to Nanjing road pedestrian street. I like that their room windows can be open so that the cool air can enter.

There is no shelter at the entrance of the hotel. I know it’s not their fault but would like to highlight to those that travel with elderly folks or babies and if during the rainy season, it will be quite an inconvenience when their taxi stop in front of hotel when it’s raining. Another thing that irk me was their shower’s water pressure was very weak. It’s not my room only, but all rooms that my group stayed in.

We spent 6 nights at The Yangtze and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff were friendly and responsive to our needs. Hotel location was excellent, right next to Raffles City Mall and Metro Green Line 2 People’s Square Station. It was a short walk to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, many food options nearby. Housekeeping did an excellent job, it was well cleaned everyday. There is always a nice scent walking from our room level lobby to our room. We enjoyed the breakfast very much, a mix of chinese and western, delicious food. Always looking forward to our breakfast cause Regina and her team will provide us with their best service. Regina is such a helpful and friendly person, she will try her best to help us whenever we asked for recommendations or directions. We will chose to stay at The Yangtze next time we come Shanghai.

This is an excellent hotel which far exceeded our expectations. We arrived from our long flight and were able to get checked in straight away. The room was beautiful, a very large room with a huge bath tub which was such a luxury. It was quiet and comfortable. We felt very welcomed by the staff. The location is excellent. We got the metro from the airport and the exit is right on the road which the hotel is on so its a very short walk. We came back to Shanghai a week later and I wish we had booked this hotel - we booked somewhere which cost more but was not as nice. We would love to return and if we do we will book this hotel.

Yangtze Boutique Hotel was outstanding. Our room was very nice and quiet. It was well appointed and the bathroom was large with his & hers basins, bath, large walk in shower and a cool toilet with bidet. Hotel is on a relatively quiet side street, but close to People’s Square Metro, a short walk to Najing Rd pedestrian street and the Bund. There a decent mall directly across the road too. So heaps of dining options close by - the Japanese restaurant next door was great.

Magnificent, perfectly restored original 1930s hotel. The most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! Excellent location, a 20-minute walk from the Bund and just steps from the main shopping street. A special mention to Ray and all the concierge staff: professional, friendly, and always ready to help with any logistical issues.

You should keep the bar open after 9:00pm and promote the good restaurant on the second floor better.

Very nice historic building. Big and comfortable room. The interior and decoration are very charming and the building is certainly interesting and a lovely art deco architecture example . Central location of the hotel is also a strength.

You will not find the usual facility you expect in a 5 star hotel (gym, swimming pool, spa, etc are lacking). The whole hotel design is awkward. Small lobby hidden past reception desk, the restaurant/tea area in second floor is poorly designated. Small b seereakfast room at 9th floor (possibly due to ongoing renovation). My impression is that the hotel is an excellent choice for a one night visit, if you are interested in art deco architecture. For the same price, is it possible to get hotels with more convenient facilities. Also overall staff service is not at par with usual 5 star hotels sefvice
