Everything was good including breakfast, stagg, location, rooms, etc.

Language was an issue as most staff don't speak English and other languages apart from Chinese. There were selected staff who could communicate in English. The weather in April was cool in Shanghai not cold but the Hotels set their Air Conditioning to 22 degrees. Some people like myself felt quite hot since the comforters are very warm too. There are air conditioner controls in every room so each guest can control the temperature to what they are comfortable. But the Hotel locks the limit to 22 even if you set the temperature to the lowest value. They did provide me a fan with water and it did cool a little more but it is not fair since it is inconvenient and not worth the price paid.

We stayed twice at this hotel during our trip to China. The concierge was kind enough to hold our luggage between stays to avoid having to carry everything. This is an excellent hotel, well-positioned, courteous staff, great gym facilities, clean and comfy room. Moreover, I accidentally left a personal item behind me after checking out. The staff immediately acted upon this by notifying me and offering a solution to return such item by courier to its owner. A special thanks to Ms. Judy Jia and her team for accommodating my request. I would definitely return to the Marriot Marquis City Centre and recommend anyone travelling to Shanghai to do the same.

The location was 10/10, which is the best thing about that hotel!! I cannot recommend this location enough, the famous Nanjing Street is next to the hotel with so many shopping malls and restaurants, and the subway is so good with the main line and easy to go everywhere. The hotel in itself is super comfortable, an enormous room with an amazing bathroom, and everything is super clean! the employee were so so so so nice!! I recommend you this hotel 10000%.

the pool was close which was a bit sad and we upgraded our room for a room with a view but we didn't get a view of the bund which was what we were expecting to have (it was the other side). Not that big of a deal but the price difference is a lot for the view so maybe be sure to be precise you want a view of the bund, if not I don't think the view is worth it on the other side for the price.

Beer prices at the Bar of 10-11 Euro even for small local produced chinese beers are simply too much

The room was good, and yes was also quiet, the location was epic, was able to access almost all the necessary places within minutes. It also helped that 7/11 was close by and the Nanjing Road and the eateries

I think the cleaning needs a little upgrade. I also did not like the fact that the receptionist was asking for a down payment of 15,000 yuan for the contents in the fridge that did not ammount to the same amount.

The hotel is very central and close to shopping areas and restaurants alike. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and they did their very best to accommodate every question we had with regards to communication issues and areas we should explore.

I would not be sincere if I had to say that there were things which I did not like...

Location. It was few minutes away from ninjang road. There are 3 malls right under this hotel.

They do the normal cleaning & changing towels without taking care of the small things such as dust, food leftovers next to the garbage cans…

Everthing was good, except it surprised me that at Shanghai Marriott that staffs did not speak English at the front desk. Luckily I do speak Chinese but my daughter and husband were having problem. Also, we were told that your swimming pool is close for maintainance every December. If that is the case, we will not be returning in the future. Because we do enjoy our morning swims. Otherwise, Thankyou!

Lack of English speaking even just very basic conversation used in hospitality. The house keeping lady we see in the morning was the only one who had a smile :)

Near shopping district but yet on the quieter side of the road ; good customer service

Excellent location and close to everything we need, shops, restaurants, parks, and major attractions. I love the facilities, gym was one of the best I've seen compared to many other hotels I stayed in. The room was very clean and comfortable, I love the bed. The room is a little tight for a family with a child but in general it was a great stay. I would 100% go back.

It's a busy hotel so some of the staff were very busy and the check in took a long time.
