The location was great, we had a beautiful sunset over the bay of Playa Hermosa every night. The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful The resort has nice pools and they have activities during the day at the swim up bar pool The beach of Playa Hermosa is awesome

The villas are a little run down and it is showing its age. The safe in our room was broken and the light fitting in our room fell off. The shuttles were in short supply at times and the lines got so big that some people were left waiting for a second shuttle. There weren’t many loungers at the beach and the ones that were there were old.

The location was great, the staff was exceptional, the villa was very nice overall and very spacious, and there were a handful of shuttles around the property (necessary, the property is on a steep hill). The view of the ocean from our 2nd story porch was amazing (we had 2 porches overlooking the ocean), and you can always catch sunset over the ocean from just about anywhere on the property, including a viewpoint on top of their hill. Very nice kitchen w/full amenities, staff kept that room squeaky clean, fully stocked, and folded bedside clothes and organized our shoes. The service was personable, helpful and prompt. If you can't speak Spanish, most of the staff was fluent in English and a host of other languages. Playa Hermosa and Villas Sol is a nice quiet area that the local Costa Ricans go to, so not many touristy things, extremely safe (beach walks at night with zero hassles), no trash, really nice beachfront restaurants. One night there were bioluminescent microorganisms on Playa Hermosa, so when you walked it looked like stars under your footprints. Another day, a squad of howler monkeys were in the trees making noise all day. Some of the accompanying town beaches nearby were the nicest I've been to and it was reassuring to see it filled with Costa Rican families and not tourists/tourist traps. Basically, a nice place in a low-key, safe, beach town.

Everything was a bit dated and the furniture wasn't the most comfortable. The villa was a hotel rental, but privateers that own their villas have pools; a plunge pool, Jacuzzi, or something like that would really set the room apart. We had low water pressure in our villa for the sink and the hot water sapped a lot of pressure out of the shower. One room AC was on its last legs, however the other rooms' AC's worked perfect. Honestly, a little refresh/investment and it's a perfect spot.

I liked that everything was in one place. The breakfast was fantastic, my family looked forward to every morning to get to the restaurant. They made sure my room was cleaned every day. While there, I requested extra things, and the people at the reception met my needs fast and cordially.

We went to Villa Sol during Semana Santa, and the people who oversaw the tours didn't work those days. We would have liked to have had a heads-up on that to make arrangements somewhere else. It would have been good to have physical maps of points of interest in the area.

The location and views. The transport to the beach was fast.

It’s a bit old, far from the beach. There is only one restaurant and the food is a bit repetitive. The water in the main pool is not clear, needs better maintenance. The towels can be changed only until 17:00, otherwise you have to carry them to your room and exchange the next day. The cost for the room and food was extremely high for the quality offered.

The staffs are very friendly. The view from the restaurant is spectacular. The food is delicious .However, the front desk is too straight for check in time. We told her that we flew red eye, and we did not sleep much. If she can accommodate earlier check in. Even it was 2:30 pm, she said it is not 3:00 pm yet.

The reception area is too hot. It would be better that they have AC that make check in/ out more comfortable. The room could have a chair.

The shuttle to get around the property was an experience of its own. Never a long wait, never felt unsafe. The free paddle boarding offered by the resort was fun. We had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer!

The dining/restaurant room needs ceiling fans or something to stimulate air flow on nights without a breeze. Costa Rica can be so oppressively hot! I would suggest more lounge chairs on the beach and maybe cleaner looking.

Beautiful location, kind people, great food. For an easy couple of days arriving in Costa Rica, it is great. I also loved that there were lots of Costa Rican folks vacationing there too.

Plastic cups and straws. It would have been nice to have a talk to give you information about the history of Costa Rica and the surrounding areas I stead of movie night. It would have been nice to be able to rent boogie boards:+)

We chose to walk down the hill to the beach but there was a shuttle available which was great for going back up. The sailing/snorkeling tour on the Jessica Anne was a very good beginner tour. I was surrounded by fish and the guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Safety was a top priority. We rented a car and drove an hour away to hot springs and a national park. All included alcohol had generous pours. Food at the buffet was generally good. Usually a couple hot dishes available for vegetarians and lots of cold salads and bread. Ping pong

This was a good stay but quality seemed lacking for what I expected when I saw four star hotel. The Helencia Restaurant was closed which is where you sit down and order food vs the Bahia Restaurant which was buffet style. The mattresses was a bit old. Squeaky and could feel the springs a bit and had worn edges. Pillows also seemed a bit old and lumpy . The included soap was just one bottle of mystery soap, no conditioner. Meat dishes at buffet were often dry and chewy.

Very respectable all-inclusive food and drink (but not the floppy plastic cups that cocktails were made in - though barman did give us solid plastic cups on request). Lots of fresh fruit at breakfast. Good hot coffee. Good regular vehicle transport around the resort and to the beach.. Beach was long and peaceful - but had no facilities at all except for a few plastic hotel loungers. Comfortable pool loungers. Great sunset views!

Reception was rather casual; we had arrived from the airport a bit early and the hotel room wasn't ready, so we were told to go to the upper pool bar and kill an hour there. The vibe was more of a villa timeshare resort with a hotel attached. The hotel room walls were bare - not even a local photo or wallhanging. A/c was only moderate - but we got a floor-fan to use from the nice roomservice lady. No need for soft-rock versions of reggae songs at the hotel pool.

The view in most of the resort is breathtaking. The staff is very friendly. The shuttle between the various part of the resort is super convenient. Overall, the availability of amenities is top.

Air conditioning in the room was good but not excellent, and it was the only place where we could cool off. The choice at the buffet was not the best (nearly no fish) but the food was good.
