Everything was very personal as it’s a small hotel. Loved the breakfast - fruit bowl with toast followed by a la carte breakfast. No buffet. Quality of all meals was excellent. Super rooms - great size & really clean. Fantastic viewing area to see hummingbirds .

It’s a shame it’s a little further out from the town so would have to taxi it there & also the fact that the road is not great going up to the hotel. This meant we didn’t venture out to Santa Elena shops & restaurants which looked nice but to be honest we loved the hotel so didn’t really mind. The staff were excellent & the only reason we would have liked to go to town is because it would have been cheaper to eat & drink there, & also usually we like to check out the town.

The bed was super comfy and the curtains managed to block out morning light. The turn-down service was much appreciated and the staff seemed genuinely friendly, especially the bellhop and reception staff. Lastly, the food at the restaurant was excellent and the vegetarian options were a happy surprise.

I only have two tiny complaints/suggestions: I would have preferred a shower with a shower wand and a French press (for coffee) without a PLASTIC lid. I also wish that I had known about the on-site zip lining canopy tour before going to Monteverde. That way I could have saved money and not booked Selvatura…

Well maintained. Easy to walk around. Lots of lovely foliage. Small area to cover. Rooms large and clean with great big bathroom. Great staff. Happy to show you around to see animals/birds. Has its own trails approx 4km in total. Great views from restaurants. Comfortable seating and lovely fire with seating (can get chilly in evenings). ALL the staff were wonderfully helpful and we felt very looked after. Would highly recommend. Only reason for some 9/10 scores is that there is always room for more but this is one of the best places we stayed in during our tour of Costa Rica

Nothing really. Don’t have any fans but reception happy to provide these and so not a problem at all.

A nice place to stay while visiting Monteverde. Great view from the restaurant (while our view from the room was a little lacking). The staff is overall friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean.

We tried to book a night tour but the hotel failed to confirm our booking. In the end, we went for another night tour (which was great!) but it is a little sad that requests are simply ignored. Also, some staff members in the restaurant do not appear to understand English and they kept me waiting for half an hour before I could order breakfast (which for some reason needs to be ordered a night before if you want an early start).

We had a wonderful stay here! Our room was perfectly clean & comfortable, the surrounding nature is extraordinary beautiful (you can see birds, monkeys, coutis, squirrels while you are having breakfast or just relaxing), breakfast was good, staff is really nice. There are nice program opportunities near. ¡Pura vida!

That’s not a negative thing, just to get prepared: it is not so easy to get to the property, 4x4 car is recommended. There is no door on the shower, so the bathroom gets easily wet while showering.

It wasn't fancy, but we were so cozy and comfortable!! Everyone was loving the soft and velvety smooth bedding! The included breakfasts were exceptional. The staff was very helpful and made sure we had everything we asked for... We could've easily stayed on site the entire visit, enjoying the walking trails, and watching the birds and animals. We loved the balconies in our rooms, the observation deck, and the restaurant. Natalia, and the rest of the concierge staff were very helpful and made sure we were well taken care of ... we enjoyed our cloud forest adventure!

Beautiful forrest surroundings. Secluded feel as not a big lodge. Rooms are spacious and have very nice linen. Food and beverages are of very high quality although prices are expensive. Breakfast is really delicious and is made to order, served with the most delicious fresh fruit. Meals are enjoyed with the beautiful forest view. Nice fire place in the evenings, creating a cozy atmosphere. Staff is absolutely exceptional and I cannot fault service of any area. Everyone from reception staff through to maintenance staff is super friendly. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Monteverde.

Cloud Forest Lodge was incredible from beginning to end. The communication was excellent, Whatsapp works very well. The employees are amazing! They make an effort to remember your name and your specific likes and dislikes and they are very helpful in determining what activities might be enjoyable. The grounds were immaculate and the hiking was so fun. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. I love the ecofriendly atmosphere and the food at the restaurant was amazing. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer!!

Nothing. The only thing we found a little strange (as Americans) was that we couldn't flush the toilet paper:). We learned why and understood the reasoning behind it (pun intended)! Other than that, we literally didn't dislike anything. Even in the rain it was amazing.

Trails, friendly staff, dining area and food, close to activities

Too much glass exposed for parrots/birds to crash into. Saw one parrot lying on ground obviously hit window. Should be easy to fix back side of top floor viewing platform without detracting much from experience which is what i expect this parrot hit based on his location .. slid off roof and landed on concrete platform to left of administration door. Bird stickers dont work. Please fix...sounded like it happened often. This is bad since you are trying to be environment friendly. Thanks.

Breakfast was included. Coffee, fresh juice and tea were free, any other drinks were extra. 1st course was toast or fruit bowl and then one could choose a main! Location was farther from town but among hiking trails and zipline tour. The view from the restaurant was amazing. The huge indoor fireplace was a boon to have during the rainy evenings.

Nothing it was a great experience. To go to town one needed to call a taxi which ranged from $7-$10 each way. Dinner was ok, maybe was expecting better given the great breakfast.
