We really enjoyed the location of the property, set high up on a hill with views all the way out to the Nicoya Peninsula on a clear day and wildlife roaming on-site. A very sweet family-run place -- daughter at reception helpfully booked a Night Walk for us and patriarch served us a lovely breakfast each morning. The unit was spotless, though older decor as pictured, but well-equipped with a full self-catering kitchen. Enjoyed the vistas from the unit's deck, and the feeling of being "up" in the cloud forest.
The hot water was a bit tricky to figure out in the shower, but the proprietor did help us get it working. We were in a lower unit and one morning had VERY loud neighbors upstairs before dawn -- not well-insulated for noise. Also, must be on septic, as we had issues with toilet clogging when toilet paper was used -- staff promptly took care of this, however.

This hotel is truly a family-run business, managed by some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet! We had a wonderful time here. The hotel was clean and had decent facilities. You can easily spot more than five types of local animals right on the property. The amazing view and convenient location are definitely highlights. Breakfast wasn’t a buffet, but it was good and perfectly satisfying. The rooms could use a bit of renovation, but they are still very good and comfortable. However, if you’re sensitive to noise, it might be a bit of an issue — due to the wooden ceilings, you can clearly hear sounds from upstairs or even monkeys walking on the roof. Our stay at this hotel was truly unforgettable. Nestled in a lush forest surrounded by nature, towering trees, and a brilliant blue sky, it felt like a slice of paradise. Mornings were magical—we enjoyed breakfast while watching playful monkeys and vibrant birds at play. The hotel is lovingly run by a warm, welcoming family who booked tours for us (they didn’t plan them themselves) and assisted with every need. We left with fond memories and heartfelt connections with this amazing family. Inside our cozy room, every detail was taken care of—from the delightful, fresh towels and linens to the surprise gifts they presented us as souvenirs from Costa Rica, which have become cherished mementos of our adventure.

Spectacular view from room, overlooking the region and indeed all the way to the Gulf of Nicoya to the distant Pacific. Very obliging and happy staff and owner/managers were helpful with every request. They were even willing to indulge my caffeine addiction with an afternoon brew. Delightful coati and agouti performances were a regular part of the delicious daily breakfast, always excellent. Also, be aware that WhatsApp is the preferred messaging modality in Costa Rica (and indeed worldwide) and you should be familiar with it for ease of communication.
Bathroom facilities in our room were basic, but adequate for most needs: no hot water at the sink and no bathtub, but abundant hot water and spacious shower area were very comfortable. The hotel is near the highest point in the region, with a short but steep driveway to the front door. Our driver dropped us off at that door, but some of the shuttle buses and drivers want to meet you at the top of the drive, so just be aware.

This family-run hotel truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The warmth and hospitality of the hosts created such a welcoming atmosphere, making our stay even more special. The views from the hotel were absolutely breathtaking—waking up to the misty forest each morning was a dream. And speaking of mornings, breakfast was excellent! Fresh, delicious, and prepared with care, it was the perfect way to start our adventures in Monteverde. One of the highlights of our stay was meeting Charlie and Carmen, the family’s adorable coatis. They were the cutest little creatures and added so much charm to the experience! A special mention to David, who was always lovely, helpful, and full of great recommendations. His kindness and attentiveness made our stay even more enjoyable.

the hotel is located on top of a hill and the look out was amazing. you can see the whole town. the reception person was so helpful and friendly. spent so much time explaining about what to do and eat in the area. breakfast was good, excellent coffee. lots of animals running around this hotel
the room was very basic. lots of windows was good, but when its windy you can really hear the wind. we were attached to another room next door and we could hear everything. the walls are definitely not sound proof. if you stay here make sure you get familiar with the map they send. one way is very easy to arrive, but the other way is very difficult. unfortunately for us, i couldn't find the correct way and went up the difficult way. we made it okay, but i could imagine what it would be like if it was during rainy season.

This is a great place to stay, with glorious views and within walking distance of shops and restaurants, though it’s a very steep road to town, dropping a 100m into the supermarket area The well equipped comfortable duplex bungalows are in a large garden surrounded by a wild forest, with lots of wildlife around. We saw agouti, coati and capuchin monkeys just from the bungalow. There are superb views of the town and countryside. The room has large windows on 3 sides and ours had magnificent views. Excellent breakfast with helpful friendly staff.

This hotel is run by a very warm and friendly family. We stayed with them over Christmas and they provided a special (and delicious) Christmas breakfast as well as a gift! We were very touched that they made the day special for guests. They also provided info about local plants and animals and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. For example, my husband caught a cold and they sent a tray with breakfast to our room. Our room had gorgeous views, was very clean, had nice decorative touches, and had options for temperature control (blankets, a heater, and a fan). The windows did not have screens, but there weren't any issues with bugs after leaving them open periodically to cool the room. The mini fridge also had 2 bottles of water, which we appreciated. Lastly, we really enjoyed the sound of rain on the roof at night and being greeted by monkeys outside our windows in the morning. Hotel Flor de Bromelia exceeded our expectations and was delightful.

Beautiful location, amazing host, great breakfast! David made us feel like part of the family and Fabrizio was an amazing source of knowledge and helped us plan our time very well.
The only thing we’d say is to be cautious about sound travelling. I think there are separate cabins but ours was connected to another and sound did travel through the walls, so it wasn’t very private. If you need a quieter room, I’d mention it to the management first so they put you in one of them. Don’t let it put you off though, great hotel!

The property was very cosy and rural. It had kitchen facilities, fridge etc so one evening we ate in which was really pleasant. The balcony was lovely to sit in with sun in the evening and lovely birds flitting around. We also saw cute capuchin monkeys at the breakfast area which was delightful. The hosts were delightful people helping us order taxis etc. Really kind people.
Hill to the property is very steep so taxis or own transport is necessary for getting about. This wasn’t a big issue though.
