I had a very comfortable stay at the Hotel Balmoral, this was the best place I stayed during my trip. It is a nice 4-star hotel, the room was nice and clean, the bed was comfy. The location is excellent, in the middle of the shopping district. The restaurant is also good with a nice ambience. The hotel staff were very pleasant and arranged an airport shuttle for me.

The gym was quite minimal and the machines were very old (the gym is one of the reasons I chose this hotel), but I was able to have a good run on the treadmill and it’s open 24 hours.

The Property was nice right on a main shopping strip that continued both directions for quite a ways, The restaurant in the basement was nice and the items on the free breakfast were good. One of the waiters wasnt too pleasant seemed like he was forced to volunteer to be there but other than him the staff was great. We booked a day trip through the front desk and was great! Over all I really enjoyed my stay!

A decent old hotel that met our needs. Apparently there was a conflict in the room we arranged and what was available. They ended up giving us a much larger room, which was fine

The "breakfast bar" was not. The portions (muesli) were very small and when we asked for more we were advised we would be charged! Upon exiting we were presented with a bill, I left may wallet in the room and the guy says "I will wait." I think the hotel could do better.

The location of the hotel is excellent because it is located in the historic center of San José. The breakfast is very delicious and is included in your stay package. The room is very cozy and very clean. Recommended

I had some problems with the smart key because it was often deprogrammed but the staff was very efficient in helping me fix it. I didn't like that the hotel didn't have specific recommendations for tour companies.

The location was great. Central to everything. Free parking! The staff were great helped us with local places to eat etc.

Check in wasn’t easy. We were first given a standard room 1 bed. We realized it wasn’t what we had paid for on booking we paid for a superior room. I guess there was some confusion and they apologized and gave us our original room. Parking is great, but we were told at night if we leave it isn’t guaranteed we will get parking again as it fills up. The cold water pressure in the room was non existent at times and the water was scolding.

Fabulous location - we loved being i the heart of the old district with museums, restaurants, the park and the market all close at hand. The street was closed to vehicles and was a great walk. We really enjoyed the festive atmosphere on Saturday day and evening.

The room was a bit noisy during the day but quiet at night - so all good.

Wouldnt recoomend San Jose as a place to visit, but Hotel was good clean well located in downtown area with easy access to museums etc. Be aware of piclpockets!. Stafff were super helpful and friendly, room was large and clean. Breakfast was OK bit slow in servic.

The valet parking was great - it's easy to get to but lots of one way streets, I was glad to just leave the car there and not go searching for a lot. Staff were really nice, breakfast was delicious. Location ideal to explore the city. I'd stay here again.

The 'balcony' was really just an extra room space with large windows... it was fine but not an open space. There's a microwave and refrigerator in the room but but no utensils. Would be helpful to provide some basic cutlery :)

Location was fantastic and everything was in walking distance. Breakfast was included and loved the restaurant atmosphere. You could really feel the energy of the city being right downtown. We had the family suite and it was perfect for our family of five. The hotel was super clean and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.

It was a bit tricky to find the hotel and the entrance. Our taxi driver was having trouble locating the entrance in order to drop us off where we were not on a busy street. Rooms were spacious and very clean, only our blow dryer was broken and a/c was leaking a bit of water. I let staff know and they took care of it.

The hotel has a great location right on Avenida Central, where it's an easy walk to museums, restaurants and shopping. The room was comfortable with AC, hot water, large refrigerator/freezer, microwave and coffeemaker. We loved the little enclosed balcony with a table and chairs. The hotel has a decent gym for working out. There's an on-site restaurant where we had 4-5 choices for breakfast which was included. We also enjoyed a dinner there.

The beds were too hard, but okay for a night or two.
