I loved everything about this hotel. The location was great! We walked to the museum and the market from there. The decoration through the hotel was gorgeous! I sat at the lobby to work for a few hours and loved it. The restaurant was delicious, the servers were very attentive and the rooftop of the restaurant was so beautifully decorated. The whole staff from this hotel was amazing, courteous, helpful, and so welcoming - the valet parking, front desk, and cleaning staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The hotel was very clean, the beds were so comfortable.Mi experience with this hotel was the best, I highly recommend it!

We were really impressed during our stay. The hotel was in the ideal location just a few moments from the central strip of San Jose. All main attractions were within easy walking distance and the area felt safe. Staff were friendly and very helpful both at reception and at the restaurant. We appreciated the extra facilities including a tea and coffee bar downstairs including easy access to cold drinking water to fill up reusable bottles. We will definitely be recommending Hotel Presidente and would stay again.

We had one night in San Jose and wanted to be near the museums and center city. The hotel is in an excellent location and has very interesting art and carvings where they serve breakfast. There is a rooftop restaurant and bar that was good (but temperatures were cooler than where we were on the Pacific Coast so bring a sweater or fleece with you). The hotel gets its name from John Kennedy's visit in March 1963 and I was told it was a former textile factory. The food was good and the ambience was very nice. The staff were very helpful and willing to work with our imperfect Spanish.

Not the hotel's fault or responsibility but traffic from the airport to downtown San Jose is awful. Be prepared for gridlock. No grab bars in the shower for those of us with balance issues.

Beautiful hotel in the centre of San Jose. Upon arrival, the concierge parked our car in a secure car park opposite the hotel. We were given a free upgraded room without asking. The bed was the just amazing, huge and comfy. Decor throughout the hotel was amazing. The restaurant food was excellent and well priced.

Breakfast rush hour didn't have enough tables in the main bit, but they accommodated in the lounge outside, so that was fine. I can't say I liked San Jose having toured the country and stayed in amazing places, but for 1 night this was an excellent option.

We had an overnight stay at Hotel Presidente prior to our return flight back to the US. Daniel was working the front desk and was very helpful to give us advice on must see attractions in old San Jose. The facilities were great and a very comfortable roome. We had a fabulous dinner on the rooftop restaurant to top off our stay and the breakfast buffet was exceptional.

The rooms had an older thermostat that wasn't intuitive, for adjusting our a/c unit. It was on a timer and the unit shut off in the middle of the night as the default was set to running for two hours. Otherwise it was perfect!

Really comfortable large bed which was perfect after being awake for 24 hours from our flight. They arranged for a transfer which collected us directly at the airport. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. We ate dinner in their restaurant out of convenience and it was really good. Staff were all lovely. Would definitely recommend as it’s very central to markets, shops and restaurants (even though we didn’t really leave the hotel much!)

Nothing to complain about

The staff were friendly and very helpful. They recommended places to go, helped me call a taxi, and gave me tips on how to get around. As a solo female traveler, they never said my room number out loud and it made me feel safe. The rooms are clean and cute, I loved the shower! The ac kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The location is absolutely perfect! Steps from everything, including restaurants, shops, parks, museums and china town! The bed was a little hard for my personal liking but the pillows were great! Otherwise, the room was absolutely perfect for the time I spent there and I would return.

Liked it so much, i stayed at it at the beginning and end of trip to Costa Rica. Liked the mix of contempoary, tradtional and urban styles. Lots of ecletic furniture and decorative objects in the warehouse style reception area. Bedroom modern and simply sophisticated. Hotel situated in central area and good for visiting museums, theatre and churches. Lovely roof top terrace garden with bar and restaurant, had great meal and cocktail. Good breakfast buffet selection

Breakfast slightly pricey

The whole experience at Hotel Presidente was very positive from the moment we parked the car until we left. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the welcoming smiles and conversation. Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast had a nice assortment to choose from as well as an attentive staff. Dinner at the top of the roof restaurant was exceptional with great food and drink choices and amazingly attentive staff What impressed us the most was the excellent customer service it really made our experience in San Jose a very pleasant one so much we are looking forward to returning again soon.

We stayed at El Presidente for our last night in Costa Rica and were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the fun, industrial, quirky decor and very friendly welcome. The guys on reception very helpfully suggested some restaurants and souvenir shops to visit. The breakfast was outstanding, one of the best offered during our 3 week trip in Costa Rica. The rooms don't have the same quirky decor as the rest of the hotel however they were comfy and provided gorgeous lemongrass shampoo and conditioner which, after 2 nights roughing it in the jungle, felt like a real luxury! Be sure to enjoy the views from the roof terrace! We found a good shopping area nearby (and International bookstore with English language books) and with more time would have visited the National Museum which is walking distance.
