Lapazul is an absolute gem—easily one of the most memorable places I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. The views are simply breathtaking, perched high in the jungle with the ocean in the distance, and the chance to spot local wildlife adds to the magic. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and have everything you need to truly relax. But what really sets Lapazul apart is the top-notch hospitality. The warmth and attention to detail from the staff is among the best I’ve ever experienced—genuine, personal, and truly caring. Special mention to Mr. Jorge, whose first-class service and warm presence made us feel incredibly welcome. He is, without a doubt, one of the best hosts I’ve ever encountered at any hotel in the world. And the food? Outstanding. Every dish is full of flavor and heart, far surpassing the local restaurants in town. The menu is focused and perfectly executed, with ingredients that shine. You can taste the passion in every bite. If you’re looking to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature and comfort, this is the place. Plus, it’s just a short drive down to the beach at Dominical. I can’t recommend it enough.

Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of incredible. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the wildlife was truly special — we even had a sloth named Lola living in the tree next to our balcony! Toucans and other birds dropped by throughout the day. The infinity pool is another highlight, offering a peaceful retreat where we could relax and watch the stunning sunsets each evening. What truly made our experience exceptional, however, was George. From the moment we arrived, he welcomed us with warmth and made us feel at home. Throughout our stay, he was always available to provide local insights, offer recommendations, and ensure we had everything we needed. George was a constant source of knowledge and assistance on just about anything we asked about. He is truly the heartbeat of this hotel, and his hospitality made all the difference. We can’t thank him enough for making our stay even more memorable. The road to the property has been mentioned by many others and this is very common in Costa Rica. I am not a fan of driving on such roads but thankfully my husband enjoys it.

What a fabulous experience, from the friendly professional staff, the tranquil nature mountain setting, the sunset view pool, the delicious meals, the yoga deck, to the comfortable rooms, everything was perfect. We definitely wanted to spend a lot of time at the resort/hotel to enjoy it all. We saw toucans, agouti, and a sloth. Tip: Drive up during daylight for your first time, and use manual 1 or 2 to get up the hills. It gets easier after that! Thanks for the beautiful welcome, we can't wait to come back again. 💕

The location was private and stunning.... wildlife all around the property and visible from our rooms! The staff was amazing- Monica, George, and Giovani are wonderful, caring people who work tirelessly to make guests' experiences simply amazing.

Wifi could be better but given the location and scenic beauty, it is a first world problem!

Fantastic view, beautiful rooms, great terrace and infinity pool, lovely amenities, super comfortable bed, and friendly staff (George gave us lots of info on places to go).

The shower is seriously under powered, just a trickle of water. At the prices charged, this was really unexpected. We also found the ceiling fan too noisy to sleep with so ended up having to switch the AC on.

beautiful grounds and hotel .. we we're the only group there for 2 days and they we're beyond attentive .. food was excellent .. drinks delish and all were reasonable .. george and monica and giovanni we're awesome .. beautiful scenery in the mountains

WOW WOW WOW what can i say, we could not believe our eyes when we arrived the view was out of this world unbelievable. The staff were very attentive and always asked if we needed anything. The infinity pool is amazing and the view while you are having a swim well i had to keep pinching myself. The food was superb myself being a vegetarian can be difficult going away but here they went above and beyond to satisfy my needs without any fuss. They had so many Toucans flying around you it was beautiful to see nature at its best, we stayed for 3 nights which i think was just enough as its high up and away from anything and yes you definitely need a 4 wheel drive to get to this amazing hotel. If you are travelling through Costa Rica you must stop here just to experience this fabulous place.

Nothing much really but they could have done with a small fork to go with the spoon as you will just keep chasing your desert around the plate all night. Also having the times that they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in the bedroom would be great. Trivial really!

Jorge is the heart of the place, who'll take care of you, pamper you, recommend things to do, tell you about the country, show you animals around the hotel and make you some great margaritas. The hotel is very modern with amazing views.

The road to the hotel is steep and not very good (as for many boutique hotels with views in the area). AWD strongly recommended. If you're a skilled driver it's no problem though.
