This was our second stay at a Martinhal property and it completely delivered! We traveled with our 2 year old son and from the start, the staff was welcoming and lovely with him. The property is huge and has so many great amenities for children and adults alike. Even though we visited in off-peak season and some of the restaurants/spaces were closed, we felt it met our needs. Our 2 bedroom villa gave us plenty of space and had everything we needed for our little one. Tub, high chair, crib, baby gates on the stairs, blackout curtains in the rooms, snacks and milk for our son (and a bottle of port for the adults), etc. Loved renting e-bikes and biking to the lighthouse as a short day excursion. Jerome at the bike station was amazing! 10/10 recommend this hotel.

Great location close to beautiful beach, great pools, great playgrounds, great food and great staff. We all loved it.

It’s not very bike friendly for smaller kids, due to hills and cobbled streets. The TV also doesn’t have Netflix etc so could do with upgrading (or bring firestick/ Apple TV with you). Some of the fitness classes were too expensive eg. €24 for a yoga class which should be €10.

Amazing facilities for kids- 5 pools, multiple play areas, and lots you could book for different ages- football, kids yoga, swimming lessons.. while plenty for the parents too, PT sessions, adult pool time etc! Accommodation was also great (we had a garden apartment). very big space, and super comfortable we all slept so well there. The whole resort is much bigger than you’d expect.. the garden apartments are 10/12 min walk to the beachfront pool shown in all pictures- but the layout is very clever so we had nearest pool 30 seconds from us , and another 5 min walk, and the adult pool 2 mins walk. so you always close by one of them.

As with many other reviews - the food standard I think just needs some work compared to the rest of the standard of facilities- so worth knowing before you go. I didn’t think it was too expensive (if it had been better standard!) but very basic /low quality pizza/ salads in the market square restaurant, and heard someone send back a steak on our first night. Beach club food for lunch was a little better- average poke bowls/ burgers. We went into Sagres for dinner after that, and some amazing restaurants there - Laundry Lounge and Three Little Birds are a must! (So just get a car and you’ll have a perfect trip).

Only issues were small issues with our apartment. In the kitchen there was just 1 socket for all the kitchen appliances and it was near the edge on a corner - we were with out toddler son so when we were boiling kettle it was in a precarious position, and we were plugging stuff in and out - another socket at the kitchen would be helpful. Also, food was fairly expensive in the restaurants, and was a bit hit and miss quality wise. We'd have eaten in the bar more regularly if there were more affordable options. Re: location, not much to be done about it! Beautiful beach etc.. but maybe easy options to get to the town or lagos would be great, bus or something

We stayed for a week with a 5mo baby and a 4 year old and the whole place was geared up for families so the stay was so much more relaxing than we expected! So much for the kids to do with loads of swimming pools, a kids club, play areas, and even a little activity corner in each restaurant for the kids to play at when they’d finished eating! The staff were all super friendly and wonderful with the little ones. We stayed in a bay view house and it was perfect with the kids as it had everything they needed including a nappy bin! We will definitely be going back!

Great location, nice view from the bay house that was nicely decorated. We stayed in February where it was less crowded and a good price. We stayed with 3 big teenagers, and as the facilities are designed for families with small children, it was ideal for us to stay in the quiet off season. We chose it for the location by the sea, the apartment and the heated pool area, which all was really nice! Also close to nice surfing beaches by car. Great staff that helped us as we had issues with a rental car. Also brought a birthday cake to the house on our son’s birthday- nice gesture😊

The second bedroom in the bay house a bit on the small side for 3 big teenagers, but not a big issue.

This is our second trip to this resort mainly for the children's entertainment and kids' facilities which were excellent. The staff were patient with the children and kept them entertained while adults enjoyed their meals. Breakfast was very good. Overall highly recommended for families, especially with kids under aged 10. Spa was good, quiet adult only areas, even managed wind surfing while kids were at kids club! Not recommended for just couples unless you can tolerate happy noisy children! WiFi was good and parking sufficient. Plenty of play areas, large bouncy castles, trampoline etc. Happy kids and tired parents!!

Aircon didn't work well and room was hot! Think thermostat was controlled by hotel. Some of the children's toy areas could be cleaner, if possible.

everything was well thought about! stuff very friendly and very nice facilities with many pools to choose from, and a football field, padel, tennis, we used it all.

Perhaps it could be more promoted as resort for smaller children, because the average age of children was around 4 I would say. There are excellent facilities for smaller kids and babies, but with children at the age 12 and upwards it is not so easy to find likewise kids. And one more thing is there is a great variety of classes and academies for young and old, plus a watersport point but you have to py for everything extra, whereby at least the classes are mainly free at other likewise resorts.

The staff cannot do enough for you they were great. What I thought was great was once you checked in(which is so easy) they knew your name, that attention to detail just shows they go that extra mile, it’s only a small thing but they make it a personal experience.

The price in restaurants / pool bar. I’m not a penny pincher but 7 euro’s 50 for a pint of Sagres, along with the cost of some of the food aswell is a bit steep. Listen, it’s a captive audience, you’re a good distance from Sagres itself, so unfortunately that’s the price you pay, it just sticks in the throat a little bit. I wouldn’t want this to put anyone off, it’s just my personal gripe that’s all, the overall experience was very nice.
