The hotel was very close to the airport and city, so it made getting there easy. Additionally, the grounds in general where very well kept. The rooms were huge, clean, and comfortable; they lit a fire every night to warm our room upon request. The bathrooms around the entire facility were some of the best I've ever seen. The staff was amazing and very attentive; we felt like we were the only guests there, despite seeing multiple other guests around. The cooking class and the rose farm tour were a blast and highly recommended (but come at an additional cost). The communication before arrival was frequent and helpful. There was an issue with the hot water in our first room and by 8am, the staff found us eating breakfast and had upgraded us to a nice suite that had hot water without us ever having to ask. There are many trails around the grounds with various-types of seating and bird watching locations - from multi-store buildings to simple benches along the trails. Despite being semi-isolated from other commercial areas and the onsite restaurant being the only real accessible choice for food, the food was delicious and not overpriced.

We were there out of pool season it appears, as the hot tubs were closed and the pool was not cleaned (full of leaves, dirt, etc). The location close to the airport means that there are frequent planes flying overhead; this was not an issue for us but can bother others. We did not hear the planes in our room at night and only when outside. Some of the trails were under repair, so some places were hard to reach.

Interesting place with a real sense of history, and space to explore. Staff were lovely. Our suite was large - each room a good size, two bathrooms, and a very generous sitting area and kitchen, ideal for a much longer stay. We only had one night there in between other travels and it was very close to the airport. They sent a driver for us who was lovely and got us there and back on time. Food very tasty. Hummingbirds visited feeders by the restaurant windows while we ate.

A bit pricey compared to the other 2 hotels we stayed in in Quito. Also there was a swimming pool but it wasn't prepared for guests, so no heating at all and the pool area a bit windswept and empty. This was a shame as it was in courtyard, so a small amount of heating (not to feel too icy in the water) and a nicely swept area with the tables set out for guests would have been so lovely. But that was a small thing - the rest was lovely and we enjoyed our stay.

Room is on an amazing property about 20mins from the airport. The property is large and filled with nook and crannies for quiet sitting, bird-watching, and just general relaxation. The entire property is beautifully planted, there's even a short hiking trail, and llamas! The room itself is nice and rustic, and facilities are good. The restaurant is good and service is always excellent. Great for a weekend relaxation, or just if you want to stay near the airport for an early flight.

We arrived at Quito Airport late in the afternoon. It is a short trip by taxi to the lodge. The colonial style main building an some of the guest houses resemble a museum. Our room was large and comfortable. The night was quiet as the main road ist in some distance and no planes fly during the night. And in the daytime its only about two planes an hour. The garden and the reserve are peaceful and great for seeing birds and offer some short but partly steep trails. The restaurant has indoor and garden seating. Very friendly staff. Perfect for a first or last stop in Ecuador.

The food - breakfast, lunch and dinner- were spectacular and the staff helpful, freindly and always eager to please. This is the most peaceful charming spots alongside recent and ancient history. We enjoyed being close to the airport, the many birds, being able to walk thru the nature reserve (without getting in a car) and the fascinating tunnel which is 5000 (!) years old. How special to stay in the former (and still used sometimes) home of an Ecuardoran family. I would definitely stay again!

The grounds, staff and owner are exceptional, and staying here local to Quito is a must for bird watchers. Property is traditional and you will feel safe here.

Just be aware with traditional comes less internal insulation so you may hear people in the next room. Be ready for the intermittent WiFi and hot water, but do not let this put you off your stay, we were really pleased we booked here.

This is a peaceful and beautiful gem just 20 minutes from the airport. We had a last-minute change in travel plans and booked a night here rather than one of the airport hotels. We'd had a super stressful day traveling to Quito but the stress dissipated the minute we arrived here. The short time we had, we really enjoyed the beautiful grounds, bird and flower filled trails and our quick, tasty breakfast. If I'm ever in Quito again, I'll stay longer! The staff was very helpful and friendly as well.

Breakfast, (eg, yogurt, fruit, eggs, bread) was fresh and nicely prepared. The staff were all very nice, friendly, and helpful. The location is about 20 minutes from the international airport and a good option to staying in Quito. The grounds are expansive and lovely with trails to walk and places to relax outside.

Be aware that planes will occasionally fly overhead. We didn't find this bothersome.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff really nice. The best thing is the location. It is on a stunning wildlife reserve with walking trails. Hides to do birdwatching. Lots of amazing birds there. Also the 2 resident Llamas which we fed carrots. Also only 15 mins to the airport. The breakfast was good too.

A lovely small hotel outside of Quito with wonderful staff, especially Karina. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her and how helpful she was planning our stay and her flexibility with our last minute changes. The rooms are charming and comfortable. The owners of the hotel have spent years improving their land and making it a home not only for humans but for dozens of bird species.
