Transportation was waiting for me when I got off the plane, quick trip to Hortensias. It was early morning, and after I arrived Isabel fixed breakfast for me. I was the only guest, so she accommodated for me. She is a lovely hostess and made my stay very comfortable. The rooms are in a large house that has two big living rooms, full kitchen, and bedrooms off that area. It would be a great place for a group or family reunion so everyone could be altogether, just like in a rented house. Hortensias was spotless and comfortable.

There aren’t many options for meals close by, but there is a little market and a couple taxis down the street that could take you. I had a big fried tilapia at a local restaurant right down the hill a block away. Menu is limited but everything cooked fresh over a big wooden fire.

Elizabeth and her son were good hosts. Breakfast was fine. The space is roomy and beds were comfortable.

It was a little difficult to find the Guest House in a taxi. None of the taxi drivers knew the location. Nor did Google Map locate it for me when I typed in the name, or the address. However, Elizabeth answered my email asking for the location the night we arrived and that enabled the taxi driver to find us.

The staffs were very friendly. When I arrived at the Casa, the owner's daughter ordered dinner for me. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs and fruit, simple but enough for a morning .They also arranged a taxi from and to the airport. The location is close to the airport and very safe. The bed and quilt were very comfortable , the hotel was basic, but it had everything I needed.

This was such an amazing place to stay! Hard to know where to start. Felt like home away from home. The room was spacious and clean, and had a beautiful view of the mountains. The surroundings are beautiful with flowers, trees and birds. There’s a lovely dog and cat, as well as cows on the neighbouring property. It’s very tranquil and idyllic. Elizabeth the owner is so sweet! She made me feel welcome and ensured I had everything I needed. If you want, lunch can be provided by her sister Jacqueline who is an amazing cook! The hotel is very close to the airport. Elizabeth and her family are wonderful. I couldn’t recommend las hortensia’s hopedaje enough.

We pre arranged airport transfer, but no one showed up. It would have been nice if they contacted me prior to let me know. I ended up arranging my own taxi to the hotel.

Everything was wonderful! Elizabeth helpfully arranged airport pickup and dropoff for us ($10 each way). The included breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh-squeezed orange juice, as was the extra, optional dinner ($8). The room and entire property is extremely clean, comfortable, and secure.

Our only minor complaint was that the traffic noise outside was sometimes a little loud, but that’s to be expected with lodging in a big city.

I needed a relaxing and low-key way to end my trip and Las Hortensia's delivered. Didn't hurt I had the whole place to myself and the views were awesome. Great hospitality at the start, including the pick-up at the airport ($10 each way). Staff were awesome: thanks to Nicole for checking me in, Elizabeth for home-made meals and showing me around, and of course Nachito, the unofficial mascot haha. The location is within 10 minutes from the airport which was what I needed to be after so much transiting the last week, but still find a slice of nature and peace. Las Hortensia's also takes cc for payment so I ended up buying more items from their mini-store in addition to stay. Really enjoyed listening to your stories and I'm sorry my Spanish was limitado. Gracias por todo!

Not sure if this is really an issue for me because I made it work (tho has been mentioned in other reviews): lower water pressure for flushing and shower. I'm being really picky here but not a deal breaker.

Nice breakfast: fruit, juice, bread, and hot eggs, drinks and Ecuadorian specialties. Comfy beds, quiet rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Shared sitting room and kitchenette for making and heating tea and coffee. Hosts went out of their way to be helpful.

The location would be pretty good for some guests (10 km from the airport), but for us (provided with the wrong rental car, moreover without GPS) it was hard to find and park the first time.

Elizabeth was very kind and organised a taxi pick up from the airport. I arrived at her hotel 6:45 pm & she very kindly organised a sandwich before I had an early night from travelling. An excellent host and very accommodating.

I found the pillows a bit too hard for my liking.

It was the perfect place to land after a long day of travel. Everyone was friendly, kind, and accommodating. The space was quiet and clean. They even help arrange pick ups from and to the airport. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
