This newly restored home was filled with small details and touches that made it feel magical. From repurposed sewing tables to shelves of tchotchkes, no effort was spared. We had a wonderful breakfast every morning on the rooftop. Again, more little details everywhere that made it seem special. The staff was extremely accommodating. We could reach them through this app or Whatsapp - and they always responded promptly. The location made everything in the historic district very walkable. It felt very safe. There is also a delightful pastry shop next to the entrance.

The area in general was quite noisy, but to be fair, I think any place you stay in the area would be the same.

This was an amazing hotel. The staff were so kind, the breakfast was incredible and we really enjoyed the roof top terrace. This was a great landing spot when we first arrived to Ecuador. They thought the little details, like a pitcher and cups in the room and clean drinking water available in many locations to refill. (It’s not recommended to drink tap water in Ecuador). The history of the location is also noteworthy. The building is very old and was an old house. They’ve done a great job decorating where it feels like a modern, comfortable hotel, while maintaining the feel of the original house. There are cool antiques on shelves throughout the property.

The location is great, right in the historic center with walking distance to everything. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and have all the necessary supplies. All the rooms are nicely decorated with a local theme. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic: omelettes, fruits, freshly baked bread, cheese, coffee, juices... all fresh and delicious and served on the terrace with a view of Virgin of El Panecillo! The hotel is located in a historic building and feels as a museum full of collectables and beautiful artifacts. The staff is super friendly and helpful! Thank you for welcoming us!

Nothing, all was great!!!

The location is great to explore the historic centre. The room was big and bed comfortable. Pillows were just ok. The street outside was noisy during the day but very quiet after 9pm. The windows have double panels that are working well to keep the noise level at very low. The breakfast was simple but nice. They serve fruit salad and eggs cooked on order.

The hotel has rather dated bathrooms that do not look clean anymore even thou they probably are…the shower curtains look as they have seen better times and could be replaced. But the shower had good pressure and water was hot

The location is great, right in the historic center, and everything is within walking distance. Good breakfast in the rooftop restaurant with a view of the Virgin of El Panecillo. The staff was very helpful and provided us with everything we needed. Our room was were very spacious but had only a window facing the courtyard. The filtered water available was a bonus.

An 8.5% surcharge applies when paying by credit card but this is mentioned at booking.com. Other hotel do charge less!

This hotel was amazing! They were so responsive prior to my trip, which helped me feel confident and calm before traveling to Quito. My flight got a little delayed, but the fact that I had set up a shuttle through the hotel was so reassuring- I didn't have to hope for a taxi at 10:00pm. I love that they offer that option! The hotel itself was warm and welcoming, everyone who worked there was super friendly, even with a small language barrier, and the room itself was beyond what I expected: very spacious, comfortable, and ample storage space. And the free breakfast with a beautiful roof view was a huge bonus!

The only thing I would note is that I wish I was told ahead of time that cash payment was preferred. This would have saved me a trip to find a safe ATM while in Quito, but that's really the only minor negative I have from my time there.

This was a terrific location. Easy to get to food and evening activies as well as to walk to sites of interest during the day. We had a guide meet us here and then we took off by foot to explore the city. The hotel is authentic to the area. I'm not a fan of exploring a country and then heading to a Holiday Inn. I want to experience life here and this hotel is perfect for that. quaint, wonderful homemade breakfast and represented their culture well.

When we arrived on a Friday night, it was dark. The street in front was dark and there was one unilluminated sign over the door. We thought we might be in the wrong place. Upon ringing the bell, the desk clerk came out and welcomed us in. On the other side of the hotel, the streets were busy and fun for a Friday night. Felt like the taxi dropped us off in an alley. Could use better signage.

Great small hotel with rooms facing a central courtyard. Our room was large and very clean. The staff was extremely helpful, providing information about things to see and do and how to get there. We celebrated our anniversary at a restaurant recommended by the hotel and had a wonderful dinner. The hotel was within walking distance from everything that we wanted to see and do. It was a great value for the cost. There are a number of restaurants within two blocks of the hotel.

Room was warm in the evening.

This is an interesting, quirky and altogether delightful hotel. The senora and her staff were friendly and helpful, the room was large, quiet and comfortable and they served a delicious breakfast. On our first afternoon we asked for some laundry to be done. It was returned 4 hours later and we were charged a fraction of what we had paid in other hotels. They also arranged for our taxi to the airport (paid). The hotel is just around the corner from Calle de Ronda, which has interesting shops and some great restaurants at very good prices. NB we visited in June 2024 and had no issues with safety in that area. You just need to take the same precautions as a tourist that you would anywhere, and there are plenty of police on patrol in Quito.

There was nothing that we didn't like about Casa del Alquemia. I'd go back there tomorrow.

It was a pleasure to stay at the beautiful Casa Alquimia, such a stunning building with so much history. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, shower was hot, breakfast was tasty and the staff were very helpful. The location was perfect and we felt comfortable walking out for dinner in the evening. Such a magical building, we spent time just enjoying the architecture and eclectic collections decorating the space.
